The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gawain arched an eyebrow. "Attacks on the Mansion? What did I miss?..."
The fox seemed rather enthusiastic about her combat training. Gawain could imagine Emerald would be a good teacher. That girl was a survivor. She needed to be too, considering all the trouble she got into all by herself.
"Speed's good" he agreed "I prefer speed to strength too. An' if ya're acrobatic enough, ya can do a whole series of things to suprise your opponent. But I'm guessin' Ems' already told ya that much." he chuckled "Electricity, huh? Nice. I'll make sure not to piss ya off."
Because a fox that is faster, smaller and more agile than you, and has the power to electrocute your *ss... well. Is almost as frightening a thought as a pissed off hydrokinetic werewolf on a motorcycle.
"Well, attacks by the order and humans that try to force us to register. Lots of people don't like us to much." Ruby explained, shrugging her shoulders a bit.
Ruby noticed the boy didn’t seem to know about the attacks on the mansion that happened far too often in the fox girl’s opinion. Between the Order attacking and the registration camps, Ruby was surprised none of the teleporting mutants didn’t decide to just teleport the mansion away from its current location. It would certainly save on Repair bills if they did.
"Emmy's told me lots of stuff about my style of fighting and how easily it can catch people off guard if they don’t know what they are doing. She’s a really good teacher and I'm glad I can learn from her." Ruby told Gawain, an eager grin on her face. "You don’t have to worry though, it takes a lot to get me angry, and I’m not a hot head like my big sister."
Ruby giggled a little, knowing Emerald probably wouldn’t be too happy with her calling her a hothead, but the little fox girl couldn’t lie and say her sister wasn’t one. Though, Emerald did tell the young fox that her own temper was pretty bad too but Ruby didn’t think so. The only reason Ruby was being taught fighting was in order for her to learn how to protect others, something that she admired Emerald for greatly.
Ruby let out a content sigh, a small grin on the fox girls face as she looked at Gawain. A devious little idea formed in the fox girls head. She strode up to Gawain tail swishing back and forth in an oddly cool and calculated way. The grin on her face was a small one, with her lips curving upwards as if she had something on her mind. She got rather close to Gawain, her stride similar to that of a woman that knew what she wanted, instead of her typical care free one. Ruby got a few inches away from the Young Knight, that same grin on her face.
"I heard," Ruby paused for a moment, "That you were a good Kisser, Mr. Gawain." And before Gawain could React Ruby Did the unthinkable....
She poked him in the nose and began giggling furiously.
Ruby smiled at the boy for a moment, a tricksters grin clear to see on her face, just before she quickly darted up a nearby tree, skillfully and quickly climbing the branches until she reached one that was about 8 feet off the ground. Once she was in her safe place, Ruby started giggling again.
"I am the most cunning of all the foxes in the forest! Do you think you can reach me Sir Gawain?" Ruby asked, sticking her tongue out at the boy.
>>"I heard, that you were a good Kisser, Mr. Gawain."
Gawain's eyes widened to a size that bordered on real-life anime, as he looked at the young fox. Holy sh***, Ems' gonna kill me. Unless Twyla kills me first. Darn, they're gonna kill me together.
How can fourteen-year-old brats be so feminine all of a sudden? Even Maya couldn't do that. It was a trick she'd have to learn. Or, at least, learn to counter somehow... Gawain shut his eyes. I'm dead...
Poke on the nose.
>>"I am the most cunning of all the foxes in the forest! Do you think you can reach me Sir Gawain?"
By the time he opened his eyes, Ruby was up in a nearby tree. Crisis averted. The grin returned to the knight's face as he dropped his quiver and bow to the ground.
"Ya bet I can." he answered, reaching for the lowest branch and swinging himself up to the tree "But where do you run from there?"
If she wasnt all the way up in a higher part of the tree Ruby would have been laughing hysterically at Gawains reaction to her near kiss. Problem was that if she laughd from that high up it was most likely she would fall terribly and be unable to right herself back up again. This wouldnt end well because she would be hurt, Emmy would be both sad and mad and likely kill Gawain. Why would she kill Gawain? Because Gawain let her climb up that high and wasnt watching her. As silly as it was, that was how her big sister thought when it came to the little fox girl.
With a small grin, little Ruby Peered down At Gawain, her tail curling around her body, she left him room to climb on the branch next to her. "I could just jump down, but then something would happen and Emerald or Sapphire would kill you for not watching me better." Ruby replied thoughtfully, talking as if it were nothing. Really and truely she didnt mean to make too much trouble, Ruby always knew when it was a good idea to start joking and when it was good idea to stop. "So, you and Emmy get along really well? Maybe you should be the one that helps look for her during odd monthed full moons, that would really help, at least that takes some of the pressure off of me. " Ruby explained, her eyes gazing out at the forest thoughtfully. "Well, Emmy tries to make it seem like theres no pressure but she gets scared when she goes into third form because the beast cant control itself and so far I'm the only one thats been able to snap her out of it."
>>"So, you and Emmy get along really well? Maybe you should be the one that helps look for her during odd monthed full moons, that would really help, at least that takes some of the pressure off of me."
"Yeah." Gawain smirked "Em's all right."
Ruby looking after Em? Well, with the big sister they had, no wonder. Gawain had been around the Lupins for a while, and he still couldn't wrap his head around the whole relationship.
"So far I've only met her after she raided the fridge in the mansion ktichen" he grinned "An' she's done some pretty neat stuff whenever we were in trouble too. So. Yeah. Lookin' out for each other? Can do."
Gawain sat on a branch, swinging his feet.
"I'm an only child anyway. That is, if ya don' count Maya." he grinned "Always wanted to have siblings."
Gawain seemed to be on board with helping to look after Emerald on the Odd full moon months. Deep down, Ruby knew Emerald had the ability to not go third form on that day, but it just made things harder for her if she didn't. Never liking to see her sister suffer, the little fox girl was determined to protect her just like Emerald had protected her all those years.
"Thank you Mr. Gawain, I know Emmy would really appreciate it," Ruby paused for a second before grinning widely. It was a grin that mirrored her older sisters, only replacing the wolven confidence in Emeralds case, or the slight unsetllingness in Sapphire's, with certain brand of innocence mixed in a little with childlike mischief. "So She ate the entire fridge? Have you ever tried getting her to eat peanut butter? Even when its a wolf moon she still licks the roof of her mouth for hours."
Ruby giggled a little in thought of the joke that she had played on her sister ever since they were little girls. Both knew it was all in good fun so neither took offense to the others jokes so neither got offended. Thinking about life without her older sisters was hard for Ruby, because she was so used to them being around. Even in the labs she would frequently see Sapphire roaming about the hallways or see Emerald being dragged to punishment. Even then both girls took care of their younger sister, no matter what the cost to them might have been.
Ruby's oversized fox ears perked up a little when Gawain mentioned always wanting siblings. "Thats good, that means that you can be another member of the Lupin Family!" Ruby exclaimed, looking as happy as a clam. Her little legs swung back and forth as she sat on the branch grinning that happy grin.
>>"So She ate the entire fridge? Have you ever tried getting her to eat peanut butter? Even when its a wolf moon she still licks the roof of her mouth for hours."
Gawain grinned. It was an amusing picture, him feeding peanut butter to Ems. Or feeding anything to Ems, really. Especially in her wolf form. 'Weird' gets a whole new world of meaning once you move into a mutant scool. One of them is 'fun'. "I'll have to try that once."
>>"Thats good, that means that you can be another member of the Lupin Family!"
"Yeah, two out of three likes me, ain't too bad." the young knight chuckled "What makes ya think I want a little sis who chews on my arrows, huh?"
Ruby smiled at her new friend, her ears were happily perked up more with joy. Though he hadn’t openly said it she had a feeling he still wanted to become a member of the Lupin family. Briefly, a flittering thought of her oldest sister crossed her mind, making the youngest Lupin frown a tiny bit. She really did have to teach her oldest sister how not to scare Emerald and her’s friends, besides they could be be Sapphire’s friends too if she just tried to be nice.
A tiny coy grin then took the place of the frown as she looked at the young Knight. “Because your little sis can show you how to not hit innocent little foxes while you are firing off your bow.” Ruby told him with a mock cross look on her little face before bursting into a fit of giggles. She could never hold that face for long. "That and you could be a great big brother! Or sister depending on the day."
>>“Because your little sis can show you how to not hit innocent little foxes while you are firing off your bow. That and you could be a great big brother! Or sister depending on the day."
Gawain mirrored the look, and stuck his tongue out at the fox girl.
"I don' hit innocent li'l foxes unless they stick their noses where it don' belong." he answered "It was not like I was huntin' for anythin' that lives. I have friends in the Mansion who shapeshift, you know." he grinned. Quite a few of them, actually. Including Calley, who apparently shifted into all kinds of critters, just to annoy people. Phew.
"An' you would be a cute little sister." he agreed. After some thought, he looked back at her "Can I ask you somethin'? You don' have to tell me if you don't want to." he added. One doesn't usually ask stuff like this in a mutant school "Where are your parents?"
Ruby enjoyed the humor in the boys voice he seemed really fun to be around, which made Ruby happy he was Emeralds friend too. It was easy for Ruby to make friends, Emerald it was another story, her big sister had a habit of scaring people of, especially if they met her during a wolf moon. But it seemed to Ruby that Gawain was completely fine with the whole werewolf thing. Which was good, because it happened to her big sister alot when she couldn't control herself. Silently, Ruby hope he would be fine with a little electrocution as well, for her own lack of control of her abilities nearly mirrored that of her older sisters lack of control of the beast form. Only diffrence was, Ruby ended up blacking out the mansion if she built up too much electricity in her system. She was like a little battery, if she was charged to much she would eventually have to discharge, which could lead to rather catostrophic results.
Of course, the older boy brought up parents, something that Ruby had a feeling he would. Ruby of course had no problems talking of it, now that she and her siblings had found their parents. If Gawain had been around when she first came to mansion, it was likely Ruby would have teared up a little bit and drew into herself. "My Parents? Oh, they are on an Island off of the coast of Florida." Ruby paused for a brief moment looking down a bit, ears drooping. "Emmy and I found them right before the Mutant Registration Camps. We were both really happy but...we were kinda sad because we were taken away by the labs when we were really little, I was only 5 and Emmy was 8 and by the time we got there, Emmy was sixteen and I was thirteen. We sorta realized how much of our lives we missed." Ruby had known that Emerald had Told Gawain about the labs due to the haunted house incident revealing that to him and Twyla. If Em hadn't told them, Ruby wouldn't be revealing this much, especially not to someone she just met. However, If Emerald trusted Gawain, she could too.
>>"My Parents? Oh, they are on an Island off of the coast of Florida."
Well, at least it was not as bad as he'd expected. Ruby didn't freak, and didn't mind answering his question. And from what she said Gawain could guess Mommy and Daddy Lupin were still alive, if nothing else. So far, so good.
"I don't know who my father is" he explained, mostly in exchange for her openness about the family issue "Mom never told me, but he was gone before I was born. And she went missin' when I was about the same age you are now. I'm still looking for her."
He didn't look sad about all this - he was years past the sadness. It was just how things were. Plus three brand new adopted sisters. Life could have been worse.
Ruby's fox ears drooped even more when Gawain mentioned the fact he didnt know who his father was. That was no good, everyone should know who there parents were, or at least that was what Ruby thought. She hated it when parents werent there for their kids, a trait that she and her elder siblings shared, family was a big deal for them. This was when Ruby got an idea, her little ears perked up and she looked at Gawain with an Adamant look in her eyes.
"What if Emmy and I helped you look for your mom? Emmy can track things with her nose really well and Im sure I can hack into the mansions files again to see if they have any files on her," Ruby felt small sparks leave her tail from excitement. "Mom and Dad Could help too, Im sure of it!"
>>"What if Emmy and I helped you look for your mom? Emmy can track things with her nose really well and Im sure I can hack into the mansions files again to see if they have any files on her, Mom and Dad Could help too, Im sure of it!"
Gawain smiled a genuine smile at the kit, and fought the urge to scratch her ears. She was really cute. And full of energy. Up to... Were those sparks that he saw?...
"Thank you, Ruby, that would be great" he nodded "'tis not easy lookin' for her, ya know. She's a shifter. She can turn into pretty much anyone you can imagine. An' she went missin' before the camps. But... yeah, I'm not gonna say no to your help..."
Of course Gawain Accepted her help, no one would say no to a friend helping them find their mother. So Ruby went off into her head about how she was going to get some information from the mansion files. It wasnt that hard for the fox girl, after all the only thing she had done for the seven years she was in the labs was work with machines and computers. If she didn't do it right, she would have gotten punished and no one wanted to be punished by master Fusionest, it was an old habit that she could ever really seem to shake.
An innocent blink and an over all innocent look made its way on the fox girls sweet little face. Sometimes, she forgot that hacking was in fact illegal, which was sometimes a problem when dealing people who liked authority. Such as, the new leader of the X men would never find out about this, or she was sooo toast. "Yes hack, I sorta hacked into the mansion files to see information about people because I'm sort of curious, It's also what I was supposed to do while I was in the labs. Master Fusionest trained me into building machines and computers since I was to scared to do the other stuff," Ruby replied innocently, looking sheepishly to the young knight. "When the first headmistress left, I sorta wiped the files mentioning Emmy and I's pasts from the labs out of the main files, so the only way anyone can find out about it is if we told them. I also can create my own danger room simulations and run it fairly well. Emerald's been using it to help me train better because she doesn't trust the new leader very much."
Ruby was by far the most open of the Lupins and wasn't afraid to admit what she had done wrong. She was no were near as stubborn as her elder siblings, but this didn't mean she would ever betray them. If she had to she could lie with the best of them, but she really didn't want to lie to Gawain, he seemed to nice.
Gawain was more and more impressed by his new li'l sis every minute. Hacking into the Mansion files? Really? Wasn't this supposed to be a safe place for mutants, the heanquarters of the legendary X-men, and so on and so forth? Did a 14-year-old kit really hack into the files just like that?
Wide grin.
"Doesn't trust whom? Sam?... I mean, Captain Cold Steel?" he chuckled "He's all right. I think he's really doin' everythin' he can. 'tis not easy, bein' the captain in a school full of brats with superhuman powers..." he grinned "... I mean, brats who hack into the files whenever they want to." he shook his head "Life's fun around here, isn't it."
