The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He knew he only had a little bit of time before Neko hit him again with the Fly attack. Curses! That made our Bind miss! It made the most sense to go on the defensive again, but unfortunately Liana didn’t know the move “recover”. She could only raise her defense and hope that this next attack missed. She curled into a tight ball and awaited the next impact.
Kai wished he could help her. He knew that he could repair those damaged vines and leaves. Thank goodness the roots aren’t damaged. But in the context of the pokemon battle, that would be cheating, something he was loath to do.
He daydreamed of all the attacks he could teach her if they only won this battle. A Razor Leaf could be deadly. And at the next level she would learn Leech Seed and tiny plants would sprout on her opponent, only to give her more power and strength. If only she could last through this battle! And the drifblim wasn’t necessarily doing too hot, either. Was that a rip in one of the seams?
It was hard to see that far away. Or was it far away? Kai blinked his eyes, trying to clear his vision. Never had he used his powers to this extent before. Even practicing with the Tangela, he hadn’t animated her for this long or under such stress.
His shoulder ached. There was definitely a bruise forming there. -How? From other experiences he knew that pruning was uncomfortable, but usually he felt the plant’s discomfort, he didn’t feel it himself! He blinked again and prepared. The drifblim was on the move again.
From his position high above the field of battle, Juka saw the tangela attempt his vine whip attack and miss. Score one more point for the amazing future pokemon champion of the world, Juka Miami! At this late point in the battle not getting hit was almost as important as actualling hitting his opponent.
Juka waited another few seconds, trying to hold out for just the right moment, before finally sending Neko plummetting to the earth far below. Or at least, plummetting to the tangela standing on the earth far below. Speed gathered amazingly quickly and his opponent was clearly in his sights. Neko flew down like a rocket, attempting to fly right into the tangela and end the battle once and for all, advancing into the next round.
Juka crossed his fingers in these final moments of tension and excitement. This would the the defining attack of the battle, one way or another, and a successful hit here would mean his victory and being one step closer to taking the title.
The projectile hurtled towards him again, nearly breaking the sound barrier (or so it seemed). S/He dodged left, then right trying to escape impending doom, but her resistance was futile.
CRACK!
The two collided once again, but this time there was no satisfying thud of sending the pokemon flying away again. Liana was hit hard, and the impact sent Kai to his knees as well. He had used too much to keep her moving and moving quickly. It was no wonder that he couldn’t evade the last devastating attack.
As his vision got blurrier and blurrier he saw her- her vines sprawled unnaturally away from her body. Any leaves left on her vines were fluttering to the ground more slowly. They floated softly to cover the dirt of the field. Several vines were broken in places and two were completely severed. She was a beautiful, proud creature, even then. The flashlight was several feet away, the glass covering the bulb was broken. A lone boot, tipped over on its side, stood out starkly against the ground, a sign of the tragedy and violence that had occurred on that scene.
Blackness crept in around the corners of his eyes, but out of love and respect for her spirit, he let no tears fall as he crumpled to the ground beside her.
Down went Neko until suddenly *thud* he hit his enemy solidly and...victory! Juka's first impulse was to let out a loud whoop (which he did exuberantly) in celebration of a hard fought battle that ended as all hard fought battles should: with him on top and with gloating rights. But a moment later he realized just how in poor taste his celebrations really were as he noticed that not only was Liana out cold (how could he have done such a callous thing to such a cute planty anyway?) but so was Kai.
Juka sobered almost instantly when he realized that Kai had been hurt. He hadn't even touched the boy, honestly. Anyone who happened to have been watching the fight surely would have seen that, right? He hadn't meant for anyone to get hurt, this was just supposed to be a fun little game of pokemon battles.
The least he could do, Juka decided, was to make sure that Kai and Liana got the medical attention they needed. With that in mind, he unbubbled and wrapped his arms around Kai, bubbling once more with Kai safely inside. He then sent out a tendril to bubble Liana in a mini bubble and proceeded to float to the infirmary with his unfortunate victims in hand. The good Doc Prof would surely take care of them from here and as soon as the boy was conscious again he would beg forgiveness and do everything he could to make up for his horrible evil act. Unbearable guilt ate at him. Oh, what a monster he was.
