The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“I agree with that, but I have a tendency to hate humans more than mutants. I don’t mind human children and the people who accept what we are, but the others, I hate the others. Mutants took me in after my human parents called the cops on me when my ability surfaced. There were some more unfortunate events after that, but complaining won’t change anything. If someone is to make this world better, they should act on it and not just sit there whining. You know?”
It was a sentament that Meld understood very well. In all of her crusading against humans, she had never killed a child. Would she if the situation demanded it? Maybe, but it would be a difficult decision and one she couldn't be certain she would be able to make unless placed in that circumstance. Even when she had massacred the cult she had still taken pains to make sure that the children got out alive and with a caretaker to ensure that they remained alive. Aura might have said that it was a weakness, but then even Aura didn't like to kill children.
"You have the right mindset," Meld stated, taking another drink. "I have dedicated my life to the mutant cause and the cause can use people like you, people who know that there is a cause worth fighting for and who are willing to do whatever's necessary to further that cause. Sometimes I despair that there are so few of us." Most of those who dwelled at the Mansion might have had the right motivation but so very few of them were actually willing to make the tough decisions that ensured the furtherance of the mutant cause. So few of them were willing to kill when it was needed or even to steal for that matter. Idealists, almost to a one, idealists to a fault and idealism didn't work.
“I’d like to find some others with the same kind of ideals as us three and maybe start something that could actually make difference. I have no idea where I’d find these people though. They don’t usually just crawl out of the woodwork.”
Of course Meld knew about the Order, just such an organization, since she had previously worked for them. In truth she still thought that the Order did good work, even if she had decided it was best for her to leave them and even if they had their faults. "The Order is always looking for good mutants to help the mutant cause out," she finally stated, though with some apprehension. For one, they didn't exactly advertise themselves. "They have their faults but they are working towards the same ends as I am and as I believe you are as well. Of course, some of us choose to work independently, its all a matter of preference." She shrugged as if it didn't matter and, perhaps, it didn't.
"I am perhaps biased on the matter, My father is a human and he married my mother who is quite blatently a mutant. He believes that it's a gift and treats her as well as the rest of my family extremly well. I am lucky in that sense, my father and my Grandmother Pearl love mutants. Though Grandmother Pearl shoots turnips at mutants who arent proud of themselves so she could perhaps be crazy, who knows."
"You're lucky," Meld said with a grimace and another drink out of a bottle that was quickly emptying. "My parents disowned me when they discovered what I was. Maybe they're the reason I'm so screwed up, eh?" She laughed but the laugh was bitter.
"I would enjoy working with you ladies on some sort of job. You seem like quite the party animals."
"So long as they pay is right and even better if it helps mutants out in the process I'm you're woman!" It had actually been a while since she had done anything outside of her cause, a mission just for the fun and the money might be a welcome change.

Sapphire spoke about her family. Her mom had been a mutant and her father had not, though they had been happy that way. Deirdra looked away and down. Thinking of her own family made the blond feel a tad bit like she may be sick all over the bar's countertop. She then looked back up at the other at her. "You're very lucky then. Meld sounds like she's in the same boat as myself, to an extent. It wasn't so much disowning as it was, oh I don't know, trying to get me shot or something. My dumb b*tch of a stepmother had hated me from day one. When I turned into a giant half-scorpion, it just made a great excuse to get rid of me. She called the police and I took off." The woman shrugged.
Both Meld and Sapphire seemed similar to Deirdra. It was odd to meet two other people who's opinions were so much like her own. She was used to being on the outside of things and feeling as though she was the only one who ever thought in such horrible ways about humans. Of course, deep down she knew that there were others, but she had never seen then or talked to them. Under the blond's tough exterior, she was just wounded and angry. Most of her rage came from the way she was treated as a child. It hadn't been good even when she had been human, so having the cops called on her shouldn't have really been such a big surprise to the woman.
Meld mentioned a group called 'The Order'. Deirdra's brow raised in curiosity. "Really? That's quite interesting." She took a small sip of tequila and had decided it would be a good idea to slow down the intake. The woman glanced down at her glass and made the choice to stop after her current beverage. She could only take in so much and still remain lucid. When she got too drunk, Deirdra had a tendency to flirt with anything with legs. It didn't matter if they were men or women. The attention would become the only that mattered and hitting on these two women didn't seem like a great idea.

Listening to the other twos tales of woe on how their parents ether kicked them out or called the police on them didn't surprise the artist in the slightest. That tended to be a response for most people when they dealt with mutants with dangerous abilities. It was somewhat irritating for Sapphire when she attempted to use her abilities in a non threatening way, such as grabbing something off of a tall shelf in a wal mart. Some people just reacted too harshly to simple things like that and when that as well as the accusing and threatening happened, Sapphire had no choice but to reprimand the person on their foolishness. Locking someone in a a large chest was a good way for them to learn not to be rude to someone who is obviously dangerous.
"The Order? Interesting, I worked for an organization before that I was not happy with and by the way you are describing it, it seems like great organization to join. Though I must say I typically work alone, perhaps there will be some sort of gain from joining an organization such as that." Sapphire pondered aloud, placing her rum down, she was finally starting to feel the effects of it, though it took quite some time. She didn't wish to drink anymore at risk of getting up and singing karaoke or talking to the kangaroo on top of a kangaroo mart again. The young woman had always hated kangaroos, they always told her to buy now and it was one of the very few things that was able to trigger her primal instincts to hunt and kill.

Perhaps it was a surprising fact that Meld hadn't met many other mutants with similar pasts to her own. It didn't sound as if Deirdre had gotten herself involved in organized crime, of course, but her family's reaction was so very similar to Meld's own "loving" family. "I never game my family the chance to call the cops on me. They were anti-mutant long before I knew what I was so the moment I found out I fled. Then returned years later to tell them exactly what I thought of them, which wasn't pretty I assure you." The first was a bitter memory, mainly due to the events surrounding her sister and at one point in the distant past a bitter memory for the more conventional reasons as well, but that was a long time ago. The second part provided her a dark sense of satisfaction; they may have hated her for what she was and their hatred may have caused her to fleel but in the end the departure was on her own terms. Through her actions she had gained control of the situation.
"The Order? Interesting, I worked for an organization before that I was not happy with and by the way you are describing it, it seems like great organization to join. Though I must say I typically work alone, perhaps there will be some sort of gain from joining an organization such as that."
"They do good work," Meld agreed. Both ladies seemed interested in the Order and although her departure had been abrupt, she had recently come to realize that she was still welcome within the walls of Sanctuary and most likely still within the Order itself. "I also prefer working alone but sometimes you need a little organization behind you." She pondered her next words for a few moments, consider just how deeply her invitation extended as pertained to The Order. But she had always been one to take chances when taking a chance made sense and in this instance she believed that it made perfect sense.
"I can introduce you to The Order either of you desire it. They do good work and could help you do good work and they can always use more members." Hopefully they wouldn't mind recruiting from a former member.

Meld said she ‘never gave her family a chance to call the cops’. Deirdra wasn’t quite sure what she meant by that, especially when she added that her family’s last encounter hadn’t been pretty. The blond had a few ideas of what she was talking about, but figured that she probably didn’t need the details. The alcohol had already made her a bit nauseous and gory images wouldn’t help with that, it may literally make her be sick. The woman guessed that the bartender wouldn’t appreciate the disgusting mess that could be made by her upset stomach.
The cyborg-woman said she could introduce both Deirdra and Sapphire to the Order. The blond situated herself on the stool and glanced at Meld. “You could really do that? Hmm,” she paused. “I think I would like to meet them. They sound like they’re my kind of mutants. If you ever have the time, please introduce me. I can give you my number so you can reach me.” She glanced at Sapphire. “What about you? Maybe we could go at the same time. It’s nice to know someone ahead of time, in my opinion.”
When Meld mentioned she never gave her family a chance to call the cops she frowned a little bit. It wasn't right in her opinion to kill your family, unless they attempted to kill you, which made things a little bit different. Even then it was hard for Sapphire to kill Emerald even when the wolf girl let loose and became the labyrinthine that was her third form, even if she felt the darkness controlling her actions more than she did, Sapphire truly doubted she could kill any of her family under any circumstances.
Turning to Deirdra and Meld after finishing her rum and not feeling tipsy in the slightest, while she politely declined a refill she smiled a little. "Yes I think it would be good if we went together Deirdra, just in case if things did not go well or something of that nature. Besides, it would be a rather big change for me considering I have been working alone for quite some time, maybe some other mutant interaction is in order." Sapphire replied in that same polite tone she had taken with them the entire time.

Meld noticed the reaction that she got from both ladies at the mention of her family and realized that they had probably gotten the completely wrong idea. Perhaps that was understandable, really; given Meld's history it wasn't exactly much of a leap. "I didn't actually do anything to them," Meld assured them. "I wanted to and maybe I should have, but I didn't aside from maybe causing a few emotional scars. I just ran away from home so they didn't have a chance to evict me themselves." She shrugged and ordered a glass of water. No more alcohol for her.
"You two let me know when you want to meet them and I'll make it happen. If you prefer we could even go now. Its not like we're currently doing anything other than sitting here drinking." She smirked, realizing that some people actually considered drinking to be a worth while activity all on its own and she supposed it had a certain twisted appeal to it but, in her case at least, only in moderation. Bad things could happen when large amounts of alcohol were involved.

((Roland is taking Deirdra to the Order in one of my threads, so I hope this is okay. ))
Meld offered to take both women to the Order then and there. Deirdra thought it over for a moment before replying with, “Tonight may not be a good night for me. You see, I should be getting home soon.” The woman glanced at a clock that hung on the bar wall. It was getting a tad late and she would have to work in the morning, not to mention sleep off whatever hangover she may have. Hangover plus office job usually equaled a big headache and a grumpy secretary. She gave the woman a small smile. “Maybe you and Sapphire can go, but I have work in the morning and I can’t afford to lose that job for anything. It’s all I got to put me through school and buy me food.”
Deirdra sighed and plopped a handful of change on the bar. It consisted of many pennies and some other assorted coins. She turned and winked at the other two women. “My version of a tip when I’m on this kind of budget.” She smirked and hopped off of the stool . The blond pulled out a pen and piece of paper and scribbled her name and number on it twice before ripping it in half and sliding one piece to each lady. “In case you ever need to get ahold of me and so we can talk sometime, if you two are interested.” She picked her purse up and sauntered out of the bar after a quick, short wave.
