Things were just--they were just--too much. Everything in the last few months had been too much. From giant clay monsters to kissing to scary houses to everything else. It was all just too freaking much. So what was a frayed Twyla Ashby to do?
Train in the Danger Room, of course.
When breathing exercises and meditation had only made the girl focus on all the things that had been frying her nerves--apparently she could not quiet her mind--she'd tried to think of other things that made her calm. And then it came to her that her calmest moments were when she was using her powers (on purpose, of course). Matching her surroundings was like a release, why not put that release to good use on practice on her control so that the only moments that she used her powers were calm ones. That was a good plan in theory, it would be interesting to see what Twyla could pull off after a few spare moments a week were spent running simulations. And those moments were as spare as they would come with her schedule.
This was Twyla's first time alone in the Danger Room, but she'd checked to make sure she was allowed--she was eighteen and no one else was making use of the interesting room at that awkward time of night where many students were getting ready for bed (the blond preferred to crash as late as possible as it helped her avoid unwanted dreaming). Worse case scenario she'd get caught and kicked out--it would be worth it if she could give herself some peace of mind. The all clear given by her own logic, she'd shifted through some programs until she found one that seemed like it could be useful for her purposes. It was probably more for reacting to different situations quickly, but the scenario involved rapidly changing scenery and lighting conditions on a sporadic timer--it wasn't perfect but Twyla figured it would do pretty well until she could figure out or get someone else to make something more tailored to her powers. Just for fun the girl set the colors on high before pressing 'start'.
The first area she got was obviously supposed to be a city setting but since the girl had turned the colors up so bright it looked more like something out of a cartoon gone jazz painting. The girl had just enough time to slow her breathing before it switched to a beach backdrop with a crazy neon sunset, complete with breeze and bumble-bee yellow sands. Apparently she'd have to react a lot quicker if she wanted to--Scene change, this one inside a bright pink club full of flashing lights and computer generated people.
Nothing like challenging yourself to put your mind at eas
