The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sebastian assured Lee that it was fine, that he would be able to find something there to eat. That was good, she hadn't wanted to end up with Sebastian not being able to eat anything after she had invited him to join them for dinner just because Tarin liked steak.
But still, Shin was offering to babysit, and Maya was offering to help out when the time came that they did have a kid. Lee couldn't help but smile at that; she hadn't been expecting that kind of offer, not at all, and she hadn't been looking for one when she had mentioned to Shin that she and Tarin were thinking of having kids.
And then Sebastian clarified who this Jude was, and Lee blinked. She had been surprised by Shin's mention about her and Tarin's thought of having kids, but Maya and Sebastian, Maya had to be younger than her, by at least a few years, had just adopted a boy who was old enough to go to the mansion for school? That was...
Well, Lee wasn't sure she could even wrap her head around that. But then again, she'd been terrified of the thought of having kids herself for over ten years, so she was still trying to come to grips with that thought.
"That," Lee paused, searching for exactly the right word that she wanted. But what word, exactly, did she want? "Is rather quick," she settled on. "Why did you decide to adopt so quickly, if you don't mind me asking? And how old is he?"
Maya declined the beer mug that the waitress offered her after she set a pitcher on the table. She didn't want it because it was carbonated, but more than that... she was a few days shy of actually, legally being able to drink. And drinking wasn't exactly her forte anyway.
And then of course Lee had to show apprehension about their decision to adopt. Maya wanted to do thing right, but... that just wasn't how it had been happening with her life so far. Pink crept up into her cheeks no matter how hard she tried not to be embarrassed.
"Jude will be eleven in... uh... July? Is that right?" There were things to learn and re-learn. She should have known after filling it out so many times.
She wanted to be proud of her choice. Not ashamed. She couldn't help being who she was. So she sat a little straighter in her chair and pointed out her order when the time came. Baked potato and spinach salad.
Was it better or worse to tell them that when she had last known him, he was twenty?
"Jude and I have future history. I... Sebastian was gracious enough to help me help him." She took her time folding her menu and handing it in, but now that was over with there was no excuse not to meet Lee's eyes. Maya's hand met Sebastian's underneath the table. "That is why." And why she was so young. And why they were still doing this even though it was probably a bad idea.
She hadn't meant to change the focus on the conversation. Maya had actually forgotten that not everyone knew. It was just such a large part of her life now it seemed that it should touch every part of her life as thoroughly. Everyone should know. "Pluto is babysitting at the clinic." Though in all honesty, Jude was probably taking care of Pluto.

Jules
Tarin grinned at the trianglemancer as he confirmed that he was an excellent babysitter, Shin seemed to think that he'd misunderstood, though. One look at Lee told Tarin why and he shook his head, taking the situation firmly in hand before Lee could choke on something or pass out at the table. "Well, we'll definitely keep that in mind when the time comes, it's probably not going to be in the immediate future, though."
Things were progressing nicely, now and the waitress appeared with drinks and started taking orders. The vegetarians had managed to find plenty on the menu to satiate them and Tarin no longer felt guilty ordering a 12 oz prime rib. (Medium) and a baked potato. New York steaks weren't like anything in the Midwest, but they were passable. Especially in a place like this, there was a reason Tarin liked to come here after all. The woman finished taking orders and moved on and Tarin waited eagerly with Shin to the response about the mysterious Jude. The answer was a surprise, and Tarin chuckled. Apparently he and Lee weren't the only happily married couple.
The only thing was...Jude was like elevin. Apparently they'd adopted an eleven year old, that story had to be good. Lee's shock was evident, and she voiced it more bluntly than Tarin thought his wife might usually speak. Ghost handled it well, though, and Tarin reached out under the table to grab Lee's hand and squeeze as the other woman started to explain. Tarin had expected a good story, what he got was a great one. Was that dream every going to go away?
"That's fantastic..." he said, still a little shocked at the revelation, "You're lucky he exists." he added, then shook his head. This was starting to get into heavy territory for a birthday dinner. Tarin took a drink of his beer and grinned, "It looks like congratulations are in more immediate order for you though."
