The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daria shook her head and teleported next to him curling up in his arms. It was almost instinctive now, it seemed as if being anywhere else was wrong.
"My grandparents are from the south and the neighborhood I lived in is very very racially divided. I'd be dead now if I had gotten caught by the police, especially since I didn't know how to use my powers. When my grandparents see me they are going to freak. Point blank. they don't like the whole mutant thing, they are very very conservative. I'm only the second mutant in my family. the first died a long long time ago."

"Yeah I never mentioned him because no one ever does. Its been a thing in my family to not talk about the outcasts, like my uncle who sleeps around and has children all over D.C? We never mention him.
"I had a distant cousin who lived in Georgia during the 20's. the story is really fuzzy but apparently his mutation involved turning his body to wood." she said. "He was a carpenter, ironically, and his boss used to make him perform in a very demeaning show every friday night. I heard the story as a ghost story about his spirit haunting anyone in our family who became a mutant afterwards. I realize that story's bull but still we never speak about him and the adults pop you one in the mouth and send you to your room if you mention him. I found out by looking through some old photo albums when I was 14, a year before my mutation. I found the guy who fit the description, we only have one picture of him. I have it in that box I told you to hide for me.
"Basically, you're some kind of abomination if you havea mutation. And the neighborhood hasn't changed so I can't say I'm thrilled about returning as a black mutant." she concluded.
"Well, like I said... they're your family. They love you. It's easier to change your stereotypes than it is to stop loving somebody. I'm not saying it won't freak them out a little, but I am saying that I think they'll get over it."

Daria lowered her eyes.
"Maybe. I mean I can't help but feeling liek they shouldn't have to get over it. Then I get into that whole "why me" situation again." She sighed. "they want me to move back home."
Mike winced at that. Part of him worried that it would turn out that she COULD move back... he couldn't leave the mansion now, not with Sarah there, but at the same time, he wouldn't want to lose Daria...
"Well, at least if they love you, they WOULD get over it. I'd rather have that than find out that they never loved you to begin with. Want to trade?" he teased slightly.
"As for why... if you weren't a mutant, who would all of the little ones go to for a big sister or surrogate mommy?"

Daria smiled.
"I'm not going anywhere, Mike. I don't want to move back home. I was telling my Grandmother that there is nothing for me up there. I like it here, Mike. I already have plans to stay here for as long as possible."
"Once again, I'm not dimenishing your problems, I realize this isn't the worse case scenario but when you come with me you'll see." Daria winced at the word "when". "I realize I do have to go. I need to get it over with."
"Oh, I know you're not diminishing my problems, and I'm not trying to diminish yours. Just trying to give some perspective is all."
"It'll turn out all right. I'm not going to say it'll be easy, but you'll get through it. And I'll be right behind you if you need me," he said, pushing her chin up gently and kissing her.
Daria smiled after he kissed her and she looked him in the eyes. "I'm so lucky to have you."
After a moment's thought she looked away, a slightly shameful look spreading on her face. "I want you to come with me, but I really don't think my family is going to be nice to you." she admitted.
"You came with me to see mine, and I don't think your family can be worse to you than mine was to us," Mike pointed out. "You'll be there, that's enough for me."

Daria knew from experience that there was no poin in arguing. Even if her family turned out to be worse Mike would still come along. The fact was that neither one of them wanted to be at the mansion for very long without the other.
"Alright. What was I thinking?" she laughed shifting so that she wasn't laying on her tail. "I mean telling you to stay behind because my grandparents might be mean to you? I must be stupid." She reached for a blanket.
Mike grinned, kissing her and spreading the blanket over them. "No kidding, I thought you'd know better than that by now," he teased. Kissing her eyes, he snuggled closer to her. "Tired?"

"Understatement." She said. "I'm exhausted." she said and in the back her mind she mentioned cold. It was the type of mention that one usually makes when not intending to say something out loud but decides not to. Of course the average woman doesn't havea psychic boyfriend. Daria dismiss her thought anyways.
"You should take a cat nap with me." she smiled her fangs hanging slightly over her bottom lip. She moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around his waist.
