The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A smile touched his lips as she seemed to be interested replying with a smile of her own. His attention on the book momentarily he placed a finger on the image of the Gryphon that was from the book that said he could and would mate only once. Turning it towards her and placing it closer on the table Carrick tapped his finger on the poorly constructed Gryphon, ”A shame you have to go to class, and can’t skip with me… I wanted someone to give me a second opinion on how different I look from this guy here,” his finger tapped the image again and he shrugged.
”Guess you could always come find me after class, if you’re interested.” closing the other books and stacking them accordingly he pushed them to the edge of the table having no intention of putting them back himself, it wasn’t his job to clean up after himself they had mansion staff for that, and if he cleaned up his own mess then they would have no work to do.
Walking over to the window Carrick smirked and opened it letting the somewhat cool breeze enter, it was the beginning of spring but luckily it was so sunny the air seemed warmer than it actually was. After the window was fully opened and the screen removed Carrick looked back to the blonde and smiled, ”I’ll be outside when you’re ready! Just don’t make me wait for you!” leaning forward and jumping from the window and feeling his stomach lurch with the feeling of weightlessness for a second before gravity swept over his brown angelic wings shot open.
The wings now catching the air a feather that was due to come off fell behind him and into the library. He shrugged and started controlling his wings as his lion’s tail flowed behind him maneuvering with every slight wing alignment. It has been far to long since they had weather this good. Warm sun, clearest skies with clouds off in the distance. It was a beautiful day to go flying and skip!
Leaning forward Carrick pulled into a dive and tucked his wings slightly as he swooped down, and right before he was about kiss the grass they opened and he went right back up in the air. From their he circled over some trees wondering if Twyla was going to take him up on his unofficial offer to go flying.

It was kind of a shame, wasn't it? History class would always be there--it was history after all and how many times did one get to see a fellow student transform into a mythical beast? It's not like her grades were like to suffer too much if she missed one class and one quiz...Dangerous trains of thoughts departed and stationed inside of Twyla's young mind. A quieter part of her tried to silence the mutinous thoughts--but to no avail, they were in full swing. She had been trying really hard lately, maybe that entitled her to a bit of a break--after all, she was spending most of her extra time on class, why not take away some of that class time and make things a bit more even?
Before the blond had decided whether she was going to skip class or not the winged boy had opened one of the windows and removed the screen. "Uh..." And then he was gone, out into the air. "Sure..." Twyla walked over to window and peered out, just in time to see Carrick swoop around the grounds. Something brown floated into the window and at first the girl thought it was a leaf but then she picked it up. It was a feather, and it had obviously come from the boy's wing. "Huh." The girl turned from the window as the bell for class rang. Great... She almost began hurrying over to her table and her things there and then she took another look at the golden brown feather. "Screw it." She mumbled, hurrying over to her things and hastily shoving them into her bag.
Less than five minutes later Twyla Ashby was half running down the stairs that led to the front door from the girls rooms, hastily shoving her arms through an over-sized green sweatshirt. She'd deposited her things in her room and managed not to get caught heading outside instead of to class. A minute after she hit the foyer she was on the Mansion grounds, standing near one of the windows of the first floor of the library.
It was vaguely exhilarating, skipping class, not that the girl planned on making a habit of it. Twyla's breath was coming in excited bursts from all of her hurrying as she pressed her back against the wall of her school. She wondered to herself if most kids that skipped at other schools stayed on school grounds when doing stuff--she highly doubted this for some reason. Brown eyes scanned the skies and Twyla weighed the merits of attempting to flag down the gryphon boy. She had no idea how to do such.
Eyes closed Carrick circled the mansion grounds not really expecting Twyla to skip class to go flying, it didn’t really bother him much though, some people liked school for some reason; Koga, Ruby and Kat were good example of people odd enough to enjoy the learning structure that was called school. The winds changed abruptly and Carrick was forced to compensate his wings so he could remain level however when he tilted his wings his eyes instinctually opened to see if anything in particular changed the winds.
There was nothing a mutant flying at him no airplane, no pigeons. Before he closed his eyes again to get a feel of his domain spotted someone waving to him far below. He blinked once and then realized it was Twyla! Excited she had decided to join him Carrick dove quickly to the ground closing the distance between them. As he reached a good bottoming out altitude he opened his wings and felt the air push it up forcing a strain on each wing. One flap then two and he was on the ground a few feet from Twyla.
”Didn’t think you were gonna make it, didn’t you have class?” he wasn’t complaining far from it the grin on his face showed her he was glad to have the company. ”Good thing I opened my eyes wouldn’t have seen you.” he said as he removed his flannel jacket and put a rock over it on the ground so it would fly away. If he was going to shift he wanted to make sure he had some warm clothes waiting for him seeing as his shifted form wouldn’t allow him to keep the clothes.
Removing his shirt next and awkwardly slipping his wings through the holes he started going over the ground rules, ”If you really want to go flying, the most important rules is not to let go, my hand coordination is off when someone is falling, really hard to grab on to someone, I actually scratched up Kat’s arm when she fell…” he placed his shirt under the rock and then rummaged through his jacket to remove his flying goggles. ”Not that anyone falls!” he added quickly, ”She just let go when I was climbing…”
”Also don’t pull put any of my feathers, it’s like me pulling out your hair…” Carrick said as he looked up to the sky and smiled, ”Beautiful day for flying…” his attention dropped, ”Any questions before we go?” Carrick asked curiously.

Twyla was almost ready to start waving her arms and running around yelling when she saw that Carrick had seen her and was preparing to either land or dive bomb her. His wing beats caused her loose hair to fly in front of her face, messing up her bangs. The blond was glad that she always had a hair tie around her wrist and she pulled it off after the boy landed, combing her fingers through the gold and pink locks in order to pull them into a messy bun at the top of her head. The girl attempted a nonchalant smirk when he said he thought she had class. It was kinda ruined by the excited and nervous glints in her eyes. Nonchalance was also attempted in her tone when she spoke. "It was a really short class." The smirk transformed itself into an honest grin that matched the boy's. "I wasn't sure how to get your attention so that's definitely a good thing."
And then the boy's jacket was on the ground, held in its place by a rock. For a second Twyla was confused--wasn't it colder the higher you went up? And then it occurred to her that it was stupid to leave your clothes on if you were going to bust out in fur and feathers and ruin them. She almost blushed at her own stupidity but became distracted by the explanation and rules that she seemed to be getting. She wasn't really reassure when Carrick said that Kat fell but people usually didn't fall. All it took was to be the exception and then you were--Twyla pushed the images of herself as pancakes on the lawn. out of her mind He wouldn't have offered if he didn't think it was at least somewhat safe. Besides, she was already cutting class--why not be daring for the rest of the day? "Don't let go, got it." This statement was more for Twyla's own benefit and it was accompanied by a nod.
"And no pulling out your feathers, understood." Another nod, just because it made her feel a little silly. Questions? Twyla wracked her brain for any questions that could help keep her...flight with Carrick more on the enjoyable and less on the pancake side. two came to mind after a moment. "Alright, um, can you talk while you're...a gryphon? And, where exactly am I supposed to hold on? Is there anywhere that won't hurt too much or get in your way, I mean." Despite fears of not being three dimensional anymore Twyla was really getting excited about the prospect. This had the ability to be an afternoon spent doing things much more stimulating and memory worthy than class--and to think, she'd wanted to nap her way through it!
Carrick laughed at the fact that he had managed to get her to skip class, if she continued to do this, he might have found a stable friend in the mansion one he could have fun with during school hours instead of after. The idea excited him and made much more excited about impressing her with the flying. ”Still trying to work on that actually, all I can do is make bird noises…” he shrugged slightly and took a few feet back and then placed his hands on his head before he pointed to his neck, ”Anywhere around the neck, I’ll toss you about till you find the right spot just make sure you don’t lean to much against me when we are in the air…”
With that being said he opened his wings and flexed them flapping them once and then turning in the air flying up and away from Twyla, ”Wait here for a minute or two!” Carrick said before he dove off into the woods to transform. He wasn’t far from where he was seconds before but he still wasn’t comfortable with anyone see him transform. It was a painful process and he didn’t like it when people saw him in pain it gave them the impression that he was weak.
After his pants were removed Carrick’s tail flailed behind him as he was reading for the transformation. His skin started to bubble giving off large amounts of pain within every fiber of his being. It was a pain he grew to love because of what it meant he would become something else, something with power and freedom.
Crouching down on all fours Carrick’s bare feet dug into the dirt as he let out a scream of pain that echoed through the trees. His tail shot back fully extended then started to grow longer as his wings now fully extended stretched and extended in every direction. His nose stretched and started to curve as it started to glaze over in a bronze color. Another scream sounded this time a little more high pitched. His fingers started to hook and dig into the soil underneath him tearing up the freshly grown green grass.
Feathers and fur sprouted where skin once covered his body. His limbs were longer and his torso was wider and longer and more circular like a lions. Another scream echoed and escaped the forest; this time instead of a human scream a loud screech escaped his throat. The transformation was complete and he was once again whole.
Blinking at his surroundings Carrick chirped and took to the air forcing the bushes around him to shake about releasing leaves in every direction. The sky called him as he quickly ascended from the forest. He answered it’s call with one of his own, a fearsome screech echoed once again as a few birds in surrounding trees too flight and fled in opposite directions, he was the master of the avian race no bird compared to him. Turning his head he directed his body to follow as he made his way to Twyla at a break neck speed.
Instead slowing his pace to next to nothing he only slowed and then braced for impact as his claws and paws thudded onto the ground forcing the ground under him to cave slightly creating large imprints in the dirt. He turned his head and folded his wings to face Twyla and with a chirp Carrick blinked.

Twyla smiled when the boy laughed, sensing he wasn't laughing at her really. (She couldn't find any reason for him to besides.) He then told her there was a 'no' in the talking like a human department. That could be an issue, but probably not--could she even hear him talk if they were flying? The girl didn't really know how high you had to go before things got loud or something...she'd never been up high, unless you counted being in random tall buildings. The two scenarios were probably unrelated.
Another nod. Although being tossed around didn't sound like all that much fun. She'd just have to try really hard to find a good spot right away. It suddenly occurred to Twyla that she might have gotten herself in an awkward situation with an almost-stranger. She'd never met with any shifters besides Emerald and her sister, and neither of them had offered her a ride. Carrick told her to wait for a little bit, probably to give him time to finish his transformation in private. Twyla just nodded, worrying her lip when he walked away. All she could do was hope that it would be awesome as she imagined it and that nothing would make things uncomfortable between them or whatever.
The lip chewing stopped when Twyla heard a scream through the trees near where she saw Carrick walk. Was that part of the shift or was he really hurt? She took a few steps forward and then she heard another noise, this one less human sounding. "Carrick?" She called, but her voice was carried away by the wind. The girl kicked at the earth for a few moments, indecision making her unable to move. There was a screech a few moments later and Twyla decided that whatever noises she'd heard must have been part of the transformation process. Using her powers never hurt, so it always surprised her when they did for other people. This idea was backed up when she saw him rise from the forest in his gryphon form. Something in the back of her throat caught, that was a pretty effing sweet power. He looked like something from some of the fantasy books that she'd read and the parts of the girl that weren't in total awe were a little jealous.
Suddenly, he was flying straight towards her. There was a split second of fear and then he landed near enough to the girl that she could feel the wind his landing created on her face, it moved her hair back. He chirped at her, he was being honest when he said he couldn't talk, and then he blinked. "That is so awesome." There were cooler phrases in her head, but Twyla couldn't find a way to say them without making herself sound epically lame or creepy. She just stood there, taking in the feathers and larger wings and everything before she realized she was staring. Her cheeks reddened with a blush and Twyla felt a little embarrassed and nervous. "Um, so..." Her foot scraped the ground again, but this was a different kind of hesitation.
His ears lifted and his tail cut through the air as he lowered himself and craned his head. It was his way of saying that he liked her reaction. His wing closest to Twyla opened so she could get a better look at how massive they were. He loved it when people were amazed with his mutation it boosted his already inflated ego. He nodded his head to her comment and chirped again, it was so awesome.
If he could laugh he would have done so but he was still learning how to communicate emotions so all he could do was lower him self and flick his tail about the way a dog did. He chirped again this time he crouched down pressing his stomach on the floor so Twyla could hop on his back. His head tilted back and he looked at her and gave a quick squawk before tilting it back further to signal her to get on.
He couldn’t really pick up on the hesitation to well mainly because he didn’t understand why she would be so hesitant about flying. The thought of being scared about it didn’t process so he didn’t really understand what the problem was. Another chirp.
Like most things in life his transformation had a time limit one he should have mentioned before and he didn’t want to be stuck in mid air during a transformation. He never did that before and was way to afraid to try it any time soon.

Carrick's new body language was quite a bit different when he was in this other form. It was a bit harder to guess what he meant but Twyla did her best. When a wing was extended in her direction the girl took that as an opportunity to admire it. It was pretty large in this new state, but that stood to reason as it had to be in proportion to everything else. One of her hand delicately traced a feather. "That really is cool, Carrick." Her tone was honest and there was still an air of awe that clung to her words.
There was some chirping, but the girl had no idea what it meant. It sounded like happy noises, so she decided not to worry. It reminded Twyla a but of a puppy when the boy-who-was-now-a-gryphon bent down and wagged(?) his tail. This made the girl laugh as he made another chirping sound and bent down low. He leaned his head back pointedly. "Oh, right, sorry." She remembered their mission in going outside.
"Um, let's see here." Twyla took a few hesitant steps closer so that she was past Carrick's wings but still near his side. After a few second of observation Twyla decided to just try and get on his back and see where things went from there. He'd said he'd toss her around a bit till she found a spot, might as well test that theory. With a half hop from one leg and a wild swing with another the girl managed to slide herself on to the gryphon's back. Not so bad. This'll be fun.Just chill out.
Leaning forward and gently weaving her fingers through some feathers near the creature's neck the girl spoke. "Alright. let me know if this is okay." Twyla's tone sounded nervous but there was still excitement plain to hear coloring her voice.
After a few moments and her deciding where she should go she finally mounted his back and rested a little higher than usual. Before he opened his wings Carrick rotated his massive shoulder blades to lower Twyla an inch or so before he was ready to take off.
Adjusting himself and standing up on all fours Carrick let out a quick round of chirps notifying her that he was about to take off. ‘Hold on’ he thought as his tail slashed through the air behind him. With two strides with his front and back legs Carrick started into a run, he didn’t usually do a running takeoff but it was easier to get an idea of how much weight he was now carrying and for her how tight she should hold on.
A few more strides and his wings opened and with a quick but powerful flap he was in the air ascending to the heavens where he would take Twyla. The familiar lurching in his stomach was a familiar feeling he welcomed as the trees and the mansion got small under them.
His speed started to pick up more and more until they reached a few hundred feet off the ground. It was more difficult to breath here if you weren’t used to it but if you didn’t panic your breathing would adjust to the wind blowing fresh and clean air into your face. Hoping he remembered to give her his flying goggles Carrick turned his head slightly as he leveled out into the air no longer climbing till she was comfortable.
Carrick’s blue and grey eye scanned over the skies to check and see if there was any army of angry pigeons that were still at a loss for their fallen comrade. Finding none Carrick let out a loud screech as he lowered his head and opened his beak fully. The sound he hoped would travel the skies to let all know their king has returned. Straining his neck around to see Twyla’s reaction he let out a loud chirp to make sure she was looking.

It felt weird to be sitting on the back of a gryphon. That's all there was to it. Twyla had ridden a horse a few times, once she even rode bareback on the way back to the barn on her uncle's property, but that wasn't the same kind of feeling at all. Not at all. The girl tensed up but let herself inch back when Carrick rotated his shoulders and wings. For a second Twyla wondered how weird it would be to have someone on your back and then all thoughts stopped.
They were moving.
They were running. Well, Carrick was running, Twyla was just along for the ride. Technically Twyla was sitting on something that was running which gave her the feel of running without much physical exertion. It didn't take much of the quick movement for the girl to realize that she needed to hold on just a bit tighter if she was going to remain in an upright position (she'd started to slip backwards and had quickly attempted to pull her legs tighter and scoot herself farther up on the haunch of the mutant boy beneath her).
Twyla squeaked and closed her eyes when everything adjusted beneath her and Carrick flapped his wings once and they launched into the air. That squeak turned into a delighted giggle when the blond realized that they were rising off the ground. It was a totally new feeling, flying. It was totally exhilarating and terrifying and exciting at the same time. The giggling died in her throat when it became harder to breath. She almost panicked but then she thought for a second. It took a moment of calm processing but then Twyla attributed it to being higher in the air and the way that it got thinner. That's how it worked, right? The girl seriously hoped so, or something was actually wrong.
A few moments later Twyla heard a rapidly becoming familiar chirp. One brown eyes squinted open to look at a pair of blue and gray ones. It then proceeded to take in the intense blue of the sky. Hesitantly, the other eye opened a crack so that the girl could take in the view.
"This..." She gasped as her body still attempted to adjust to the thinner air. "is...amazing." The blonde's head slowly turned, eyes squinting against the wind as she looked down at her school.
The delighted squeaks and giggles behind him echoed in his ears. It meant she was having a good time, which also meant she might want to do this again some time, an idea Carrick was beginning to like. Sure it was awesome getting out and on your own but sometimes the skies get a tad lonely. Even if she couldn’t understand what he was saying just knowing that there was someone else up there enjoying the same thing he was made him a tad less homesick, for taking to the sky was not only his but one of his father’s favorite past times.
The mansion under them was small, but still to large, he wanted to go higher but resisted the temptation he decided to first see how much actual flying she could handle. Turning his head forward Carrick let out a loud screech, and sailed through the air away from the mansion and towards the city. Passing over the winding road under them Carrick looked down and spotted a Taxi heading towards the mansion. It was not only heading to the mansion but running over the area where his shadow should be. If he were a few dozen feet lower he would have been able to make out the darkened figure of a beast with wings.
Instead of going higher for now Carrick flew faster his wings flapping faster and faster as his front legs dug through the air. That was until he decided make a sharp turn that would cause Twyla to be jerked to the left and then to the right. During this sharp turn however he slowed his pace till he was sure she could handle the speed increase. Even if she did fall he would manage to catch her, it wasn’t that hard to remain on his back anyways. It wasn’t like he was doing a barrel roll with her on his back.
Letting out a screech of laughter he flew up higher and higher under the brilliant sun. The mansion now smaller Carrick leveled out and coasted looking in every direction. It wasn’t like there was anything of danger up where they were other than a low flying jet or a helicopter… or a stray baseball one of the heavy hitters batted up into the lower atmosphere.
Eyeing something swooping from the heavens Carrick chirped and lowered his head an inch then let out a fierce screech a warning as it were to the large golden eagle that was getting a tad to curious for his liking. Once the screech echoed the skies the bird lifted its wings and turned and dove towards another prey of sorts. Nodding his head Carrick chirped a few times before turning it forward to focus on the skies.

The Mansion was so small from where they were--maybe it just struck the girl as being so small because the image she had of the school in her mind was huge (something blown out of proportion by the significance it held for her)--but still...they were a lot higher than Twyla had imagined they'd be in such a short amout of time. Brown eyes were pulled from the scene below to admire the wings of the flying mutant. He must have been a lot stronger than he seemed (not that he hadn't looked strong in the first place, the girl just had no idea how to judge a gryphon on appearance) because he made flying the two of them look easy.
She was pulled from her thoughts about his wing abilities when Carrick screeched. She still hadn't even come close to mastering understanding him in this form and the noise slightly startled her. When the girl realized what direction they were headed in she had the sudden thought that flight would be very freeing. Another small pang of jealousy wormed its way into her chest--it would be amazing to be able to go anywhere the way that they were traveling. There were so many things you could do with a mutation like his.
Suddenly the speed at which they were moving changed and Twyla squeaked again as her head and shoulders flew back a bit. Her hands instinctively tightened their hold and then she loosened them a second later as her body adjusted to the increased momentum. She'd just relaxed into the pace when Carrick went into a turn, there was a bit more slipping but Twyla managed to remain upright. The movement reminded the blond a bit of riding four-wheeler with her brother steering--sometimes you just had to lean and hope for the best. "Thanks for the warning." The girl was slightly out of breath from her elevated heart rate but she spoke with a laugh in her voice--as long as she didn't go flying off and fall to hear death everything was hunky-dory.
They slowed once again during and right after the turn and then they were climbing again like they had when Carrick had first launched them off of the ground. He let out a sound that for a second the girl classified as laughter, but then she was unsure. The boy seemed to be enjoying himself so it could have been a laugh. Twyla decided she was getting used to the holding on and keeping her balance on his back so when they leveled out again she allowed herself to look around as much as he did (although she had to squint against the wind). It was kind of cold the higher they went but this thought was pushed from her mind with another screech--Twyla whipped her head around to see an eagle(?) fly downward. This made her giggle again. "Too crowded up here for you?" her tone was breathy but she didn't have to pause this time as her lungs adjusted to the amount of air they were taking in.
Carrick nodded his head, it wasn’t that it was too crowded in the sly it’s just that the eagle was to close for his liking especially seeing as had someone riding bareback on him. For all he knew the eagle would spot her hair and think it was a free meal. Mentally promising himself that Twyla wouldn’t come to harm on his watch he lowered himself quickly and turned this way and that till they were at a steady level he approved of. Trees still looking like one large mass of green Carrick continued to soar.
For the remainder of the half hour Carrick trailed from a few miles away from the mansion all the way back. If it wasn’t for his time limit he was sure he would have spent the day in the sky with no problems. However seeing as he had Twyla on his back and his inability to shift in midair he would have to return to the ground.
The mansion became larger and larger as they lowered to their landing Carrick’s wings outstretched and his paws and talons reading for the landing all four powerful legs reached out and braced for impact. Instead of a crushing landing Carrick flapped his wings a few times till his legs touched the ground. A soft-landing for his company something he was sure she would appreciate.
Turning his head around Carrick debated about letting his rider dismount but decided he didn’t have time for the act, either he got to his clothes and shifted with her a little to close to comfort or she got a full few of the Irish’s boys backside. He chose the lesser of two evils and decided to trust her with more than most.
Folding his wings Carrick made a beeline for the forest running in a sprint readying himself for the impact of a few branches and bushes so he could get to the clearing as quickly as possible where he left his pants.
Once he reached the clearing Carrick let out a string of urgent chirps and lowered himself to the ground so Twyla could quickly dismount. Carrick would apologize later to her he didn’t have time now and more than likely she wouldn’t understand him. Once she was off Carrick could feel the fur on his skin bubbling. He wasn’t going to make it to his pants, that was out of the question now but he still had a second to move into hiding so he wouldn’t be completely exposed to his new friend.
Turning his head and jumping over a thick prickly bush Carrick landed and started to screech as the familiar pain covered his body. Each cell in his body screamed out in pain as they rippled and made way for his human flesh.

Twyla didn't wear a watch, so she lost track of time while they were flying. It was freaking amazing and more than once the blond had to remind herself that she wasn't dreaming--she really was skipping class in order to go flying. Freaking. Amazing. Hands. Down. I can't believe this is actually happening. The girl found herself thinking as the Mansion got farther and farther away.
Her hands were freezing when their school started to get bigger and Twyla was glad that she'd at least thought to bring a sweatshirt with her--Spring temperatures on the ground she could usually tolerate sans jacket, but everything was a lot colder the higher you went. All too soon (not for her Popsicle hands, which rejoiced) Carrick got lower and lower to ground level and the flapped his wings a bit in a landing that the rider only felt a small jolt of. For a moment her turned back to look at her and before Twyla could get out so much as a 'Um, yes?' the gryphon-boy was running towards the patch of forest she'd seen him walk to earlier. Getting his clothes? Twyla wondered.
As soon as they hit a clearing Carrick let out some more of his chirps and lowered himself down--he sounded freaked out...or as close to freaked out as a gryphon can sound, so the girl quickly untangled her hands from the feathers of his neck and half slid half tripped off his back. A second later the mutant was running again, this time behind a bush. Twyla didn't have time for words before she heard screeches like the ones she'd heard earlier. She stood up from her awkward kinda-but-not-a-crouch position and brushed off the bottom of her jeans. Oh, it must be from the shifting... The girl bit her lip and looked around the clearing, her eyes avoiding the area near the escape bush. A few feet away from her she spotted a familiar sight--Carrick's pants from earlier.
And then everything clicked. Twyla totally would have been having a moment of panic if she was about to be very naked in front of someone she barely knew (or most people really, being naked alone in one's room is way different than with a crowd). Walking over to them, the blond picked up the pants and hesitantly neared the bush that Carrick was...changing behind. She waited for the noises of pain subsided before she murmured: "Um, do you want your pants?" while holding them out behind her (she was facing the opposite direction, she'd seen enough male nakedness in recent weeks to last her a while...and she really didn't want to faint again, that was soooo embarrassing).
He was cold and shivering which meant the shift was completed, it was always weird shifting back and forth between Gryphon and human. It was like having several out of body experiences at once, though even though he had just went from all fours to two legs it was relatively easy to move about. His hands and wings shot to his front just in case Twyla got a little too curious to see if he was all right. He was but wouldn’t be if she saw him naked, Jewel already say him naked once and so did Kat, that was enough Carrick on mansion girl flashing for a while.
”Ughhh… can you hand me my pants…” Carrick said poking his head from around the bush, it was a prickly bush so there was no way in hell he would walk inside it and look out from it. He spotted her hand already on his pants and her back turned towards him, ”Ah! Step ahead of me!” Carrick said as he darted around the bush grabbed the pants then continued to run around the bush till it was separating him from Twyla.
Sticking his leg through his pant leg he questioned, ”So I take it you enjoyed yourself?” his voice pausing for an occasional grunt that meant he got his tail trough the hole on the back of his pants. Once he was at least somewhat decent Carrick walked out in front of the bush to where Twyla was. His hand scratched over his heart where his tattoo resided, ”I don’t know why I always take my shirt off somewhere else…” Carrick said as he looked to the location where his shirt and jacket were located, which was outside of the woods and in the open.
