The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jaxon pushed past a few more people, her beast following her with its spikes in the air, waiting for it's chance to attack. There were no guards here. Not anymore, at least. There used to be judging by the blood. But there were tracks through it leading in all directions. Big feet, small feet, shoed feet, bare feet… Some going deeper into the tunnels, some leading out. She followed the ones leading out.
She lost the bloody prints, but found a steadily increasing trail of melting snow and began following that. More captives rushed around, some gleefully looking for more guards, others only looking for a way out or a friend. Once they laid eyes on her demon, they got out of her way. Pushing open a gated door that was now just hanging on its hinges, it banged hard against the wall, she made it to a significantly colder area where snow had piled in the corners and the entryway of the large metal door.
It had been cold below, Jax had been cold almost constantly since she got to the camps, but the earth that kept them prisoner also kept them warmer than on the surface. Her boots were wet and her feet were numb, the skin all over her body prickled at the cold and she nearly shuddered at the idea of having to go out in what must be freezing temperatures in a sweater and pants not designed for such things and long past their best days. She barely hesitated before fumbling with the cold handle and pushing out.
Greeted with blindingly bright sunlight, something she hadn't seen anything like in days, Jaxon was blinded. She quickly pulled one arm up, shielding her eyes at the other blindly reached back and she stumbled until her hand then her shoulders hit the frosty building. Leaning against it in support, blind for the moment, her fear hiked higher and her demon responded by leaping defensively in front of her and looking for something to attack. The sounds around her made her flinch, each noise seeming like the one that was coming toward her. All she could feel was the bitingly cold breeze that cut through her clothes to almost instantly numb her skin. The only plus was that she couldn't feel her leg anymore.
After a moment, her eyes began to slowly adjust. At first all she could see was the outline of her arm and part of her sweater. Then her vision began expanding. Panic made things go faster but feel slower. It should have taken longer but it didn't. Within minutes she could see her feet, and a few minutes after that she could look at the white and black and slush in the snow. She took her arm down before she was ready and forced her eyes open despite the pain and water that leaked from her eyes. But she could see.
Looking across the ground, it appeared to be a courtyard of some kind. She could see people but her vision was still so messed up they were unclear.
Jupiter set there on his knees his head bent as if his neck was broken and refuse to support the weight, He was covered in gaping circular wounds. his chest would heave a tired breath every so often moving the muscle surrounding it was all he could manage, dirt was caked on red skin, It was truly a sight that seemed to speak volumes of what went on at the camp sight.
Saturn growled in out rage and attacked the first of the few guards in immediate sight with a savage ferocity, tearing the man literally limb from limb. the next one was beaten to death in short order with whatever appendages were in hand the third was stabbed several times with a knife found on his second victim, he was a rolling wave of terror, drowning every guard he came across. If the woman that just recently stumbled into the court yard was having trouble seeing she certainly wouldn't have trouble hearing the cries of agony produced by the foes before him. He knocked a cage out of his way, it looked suited to keep a large dog, but had held children. two scared guards fled from Saturn knowing their lives depended on how fast they ran, but the fools ran strait for the beauty and her beast.
((OOC: Violence and Gore guys, look out and take a pass if you don't want to read.))
The sound of fighting got louder. Pained screaming, sounds of people being hurt. Familiar sounds in the place she had just left. These were more intense, more like death than torture. And some how less cruel; less painful sounding while at the same time much more final. Thuds, ripping sounds, pops and cracks that were like knuckles only horrifyingly loud and wet. The sound of heavy metal being banged around then coming to rest.
Blinking into the light, straining painfully to see, what she saw were at first only moving shapes. People? Two of them. Are they running towards her? With a quick suck of breath, the cold making a cough bark out of her, she recognized the uniforms and for a moment her first instincts made her try to shrink back into the wall, the beast responding with a slurping sound as its spiked tentacles waved in agitation. There was another shape; red, large. It wouldn't be Pluto, he wouldn't like it here… Venus then? "V?" Softly at first, but then she repeated it louder and with more confidence. "V…" She didn't even think of the other brothers, and pushed off the wall, her leg wavering for a moment before the other muscles compensated.
The guards were headed for the door next to her, probably looking for backup that they wouldn't find, but Jaxon's instincts cried out that they were coming for her. Not today. Focusing on the one running fastest, approaching her most quickly, the closest one, she envisioned her beast attacking him. Her thoughts were so scattered and quick that the image changed many times. Biting, stabbing, thrashing, crushing, trampling… The one that came true was the most bloody. Once in range, the beast lashed out, Jaxon's anger was its own, her fear driving it, her focus on that man alone directing it.
A spiked tentacle embedded in the mans chest and there was a moment, as the energy and momentum transferred, a pause before the creature pulled the tentacle back. One more moment as the creature readied for another swing, then the spikes swung forward meeting thin skin and skull. The skull's resistance wasn't enough to save the man's brain, it crumpled under the multiple points of pressure and caved in, killing him instantly.
The second Guard had the sense to try a different direction, yeah the red guy was killing everything he saw , but the freak in front of him didn't even resemble humanity. it turned it to something that looked like it came from a sci fi flick. his hesitation left him with knife blade slicing threw his back and spine four inches deep, the line was a red water fall even as the man fell, he was dead before he got to the ground.
Saturn was brought back to the edge of sanity, for how long he didn't know but the small voice that called him had a bit of recognition. Saturn shook his head, poor thing, Didn't even get Venus's full name before she was playing his games. a crooked smile reached his lips. "S." He looked to his left and threw the dagger hard into a guards chest across the court yard the blade sliced clear threw his chest and into a far wall.
'You don't have to worry anymore girly, your freedom has arrived."

Jaxon stared at the red man not far from her. No, definitely not Venus. This one seemed to have more anger and madness in his eyes than she had ever thought V capable of. So who then? Jaxon quickly raced through what she knew of the brothers, her mind whirling just as he turned to dispatch another guard. She was pretty sure they were all named after planets except the first one, so the S could only stand for… "Saturn, right?" She decided not to mention the fact that she had gotten this far without his help, and only nodded.
Her eyes still hurt but at least she could see clearly now. Despite the fact that he was bloodied and had a barely concealed aura of violence, Jax moved closer to him. Right now standing with him was better than standing alone, and he was Venus and Pluto's brother which meant he couldn't be all bad. She hadn't been introduced to the other brothers or even told much about them, but she knew of them, and the only one she had been warned away from was Mercury…
It was only when she got closer and took a moment to look around that she saw another red body. This one was mangled so badly Jax gagged, horror in her eyes as her hand covered her mouth in shock, muffling the sound of her gasps. If she had had anything in her stomach it would have been emptied in the snow nearby. "Oh god…" Her first instinct was to run closer, to help somehow, but it was stifled before she even took a step. Her mind immediately raced to who it could be, but no matter who it was, he couldn't be helped by her. She didn't want to ask who it was, didn't want to know. If it was one that she knew, Jax didn't know what she would do, if it was one of the other brothers, she was sure her heart would break for them. From what she knew, they were close to each other.
Her demon had loped along behind her, following and in a way watching her back. It didn't know what to do with the emotions Jax was leaking so it stood behind her taking out anything that moved nearby and a few things that didn't. It even chewed on one of the guards for a moment, snacking perhaps. After a moment, Jaxon shooed it away from the body so she could take the guards gun. Holding it carefully if a bit awkwardly, it was large and heavy in her hands, she tucked the small knife she had been given into her pocket and stood near Saturn, stubborn determination in the set of her jaw. Jaxon might not know these brothers, but she was not going to leave them.
((OOC: Hope you are okay with Jax knowing more about the brothers than she learned in previous RP, I know we talked about her knowing Pluto and obviously Venus in this time, I assumed they would have told her a bit about the other brothers. And since she has been gone, I have her not knowing that Pluto has black-sheeped himself from the others. Let me know if something needs to be changed, okay?))
Saturn nodded to the statement, he was Saturn...but perhaps he would become Jupiter, a killing machine full of rage and unhesitating hatred for those that crossed him...perhaps he would stay in Romania and kill every last human in this good forsaken country....would that teach the world to stop treating us as a plague. would that teach them the fear they so desperately need to learn. he doubted it.
"Oh god…"
"Jupiter is gone now." Saturn's bottom lip trembled moments before falling to his knees and looking to the sky Shouting an unrecognizable below. the words might not be clear but the emotion was clear. Sorrow and regret. moments before he mimicked the one he would miss so dearly but the guards were running out. and the empty spot in his chest was feeling with darkness, never again to be filled.

He was silent. Jaxon wasn't sure what to do; if she should comfort him or not, and if so how… Saying sorry didn't really seem helpful or comforting, and it couldn't possibly cover what was going on. Hey, sorry about your brother being tortured to death… and stuff… Yeah, definitely not what she should say. Words probably could never be enough, not for something like this. She probably shouldn't mention how odd it was that the brother had died in an upright position either, and shouldn't check to make sure he really was dead.
She had never been in a situation like this, had no siblings of her own, and couldn't relate. Jax hadn't been this close to death before either, let alone death for such awful reasons. There was a feeling of loss but it was adrift in confusion. His guttural sound of rage and mourning tugged at her, pulling on feelings in her gut and bringing tears to her eyes. Unfortunately it brought more guards running too. Jax could hardly believe there were any left with the way the facility had been over run by angry mutants. But none-the-less, there they were. "Where are they coming from…?!" Jaxon's voice was low and sarcastic, not really expecting an answer, and she raised the stolen handgun, flinching as she tried to aim shots at the guards.
Of the several shots she fired, she only saw one hit its target. The guard wasn't fatally hit but he moved off to the side, ducking for cover while the others continued their progression towards Saturn and Jaxon. She had no idea what kind of gun it was or how many shots she would have, but based on the movies she would be running out pretty quickly at this rate. Her beast had run to the end of its 'teather' so to speak, and was eagerly waiting for a guard to be in range of it's teeth and spikes. And the guards had their own guns out and had started firing and shouting. Ignoring what they said, she took a few steps back and glanced at Saturn before firing a few more times.
"Not to be insensitive, but if you don't get your ass up and help me out here, he won't be the only one…"
The guards were having much better luck with their aim, despite being moving and Jax heard the whistle off a bullet as it sped past her shoulder. With a growl of effort, she loosed some more power and began forming another creature. All that was in her mind was something hard to hide behind, like a wall, so it wasn't surprising that a creature that looked like it had stone skin and a frill, kind of like a triceratops, was floating into existence. It was taking too long though. Her first creature was hit and it cried out, its blood a goopy grey slime, and a graze burned along her hip.
Sucking in her breath she growled under her breath, more to herself than to Saturn. "I am not going to die here." For the first time in a long time Jaxon had a drive to do something. Living was something, and Jax was not going to give it up without a fight.
Saturn stared as the determined words of the woman echoed through his mind He had told her she was safe and she had to hide behind some summoned beasts. These were the kind responsible for Jupiter, the pathetic excuses for life, for sentience. The best rose from the ground and turned, Charging head long into the hail of bullet fire, blue mist shot up from his flesh, revealing that the odd color scheme went to their core. But he was on them in moments; the relatively low caliber of the hand guns weren’t enough to down Saturn immediately, but perhaps fatally like his brother on the ground nearby. At least one wouldn’t see the out come how ever. Saturn seized on the man with bullets left in his gun. Holding the man’s hand to his shoulder, the small human squeezed the last two lead projectiles off into the monster that would be his end. Saturn focused on the fool in his grasp and simply squeezed the life out of him. it didn’t take a large amount of pressure to perform the act of crushing a man.
The second man when faced with the option of fighting one of the two he ran across the yard toward Jaxon.
Saturn crawled to the dying frame of Jupiter, and settle their. Romania was claiming more of them than the world had attempted to previously. Abyss and Mercury arrived to the scene to find one brother dead and another dying. Their shock and concern painted in the creases of their faces. Inwardly Abyss decided that this would be the end of Romania, he would purge this country from the world. It hadn’t taken too much from him.
((OOC: um.. this one got kinda long. *sheepish grin* I don't know how that happened....))
Startled by Saturn's sudden return to movement she took her eyes off the approaching guards, but they darted back as a spiked tentacle took down but didn't kill one of the guards. It was probably the last thing her animal was capable of, and Jax drew back the power that had been keeping it in this world. It was vanishing slowly until she started funneling the power into the second thing she was trying to create and it began to dissapear at a more rapid rate while the other formed faster. But not fast enough.
Jaxon fired the rest of what was in the gun, but none of it hit. She would chastise her poor aim later, right now she had a situation to deal with. With few options she took aim and threw the heavy gun at the man, she was better at throwing things, and turned to run before she saw if it hit. Judging by the foot falls behind her, it didn't matter if it hit, he was still closing fast.
Heavy nausea settled in her belly, burning like acid in her side in what she could only assume was a cramp or something. She only got a few meters, her hand in her pocket reaching for her shiv, when she was tackled. Crying out at the various pains that brought; her leg, her hip, her stomach… and now her hand where the fall had caused the blade to slice her palm. Not to mention the feel of being slammed to the ground.
She could hear things, a door slamming open and others, but none of it seemed to matter as she wrestled and scrambled with the man currently intent on beating her into submission. Jaxon finally got her hand out of her pocket, blade clutched tightly, and she used her fist to push off the ground. Adrenaline was the only explanation for Jax being able to lift herself enough to turn over while a man sat on top of her. With one arm thrown up to protect her face she started jabbing at the man, but the blade was small and not the most effective weapon.
Suddenly there was a grunt above her and she opened her eyes to see… Her second creature had finally formed and come to her defense. A horn protruded from the guard's gut, a second through his shoulder. He had a moment of expression, surprise and pain before the beast lifted him off Jaxon in an attempt to shake him off its horns.
Finally able to breathe again, with a sickening rasp but still breathing for now, she was able to see that the creature actually looked nothing like a triceratops. What she had thought was a frill was actually a set of horns. It was more like a rhino actually. But it had armored skin and stood at the ready so she didn't really care.
In a grunt of pain, she lurched up and crawled a few feet to the beast and used it to help her stand. Looking around she saw that two more red brothers had joined the fray and she somehow was not surprised. Maybe she was too tired for surprise. Jaxon was very sleepy and it felt like the longer she stood the sleepier she became. Her eyes followed their gazes and found Saturn crawling weakly to Jupiter.
Apparently she wasn't too tired to feel a yawning hole in her heart, one that was steadily widening. With her monster as a cane Jaxon hobbled over, her hand clutching a bloody hole in her own gut- a bullet hole she hadn't even noticed for what it was, falling short of her goal by several feet.
So she sat in the snow, her beast at her back and the brothers nearby, her legs no longer able to hold her. There was no adrenaline left, but she was alive, barely and not for much longer. Wide eyed and sluggish, Jaxon succumbed to shock, shivering violently and her body shutting down in a slow progression. She had a silly thought that she should introduce herself to these brothers, and managed to whisper a greeting. "Hey there… red guys… Say hi from Jaxon when…" …you see Venus and Pluto. The rest of the thought went unspoken and unfinished, more to the thought but she couldn't keep a hold of it at the moment.
She didn't know if they heard her, she really couldn't tell where they were, but she mostly didn't care anymore. Jaxon couldn't tell if there were anymore guards either. Another thing to not care about. She flopped back in the wet cold snow as her beast went incorporeal, her power ebbing and fading as she did.
