Twyla shrugged when he said that the first person he'd met in a dream in the U.S. was a mutant. "There's a rhyme and a reason to everything, right?" She smiled, kicking up more straw dust as she spun in a circle. "I can camouflage myself." Twyla replied to his question matter-of-factly. Her mind flooded with images of herself covered in the colors of her surroundings--she figured it would be easier for Brian to understand if she simply showed him her power rather than trying too hard to catch words that explained her abilities. "I can keep it up for a while too...but it's not very useful most of the time." Images of herself losing the color in her legs at inappropriate moments crowded out the earlier, happier ones.
"It's a very great place." She agreed as another door appeared. The girl bit her lip, wondering if she was allowed to show other people the school but then she reminded herself that the Mansion was a safe house and a school--besides he wasn't just any person, he was a mutant. The girl concentrated once again and decided to show Brain the place she'd first seen when she'd been shown inside all those months ago. Walking over to the door, the girl smiled at the smiling man and said "Welcome to the Mansion."
On the other side of the door was foyer with a red carpet running down the middle. There was a giant chandelier hanging from the ceiling and off in the corners there were two staircases that led up to the bedrooms. The walls had old paintings on them and one in particular caught her eye every time she entered the door--it was of an old, smiling man. Something about the picture always gave Twyla a sense of home and peace.
The Mansion was a great place, a great place indeed.
He couldn't help but to chuckle a bit as he saw how her ability acted up on some inappropriate moments. "Heh I’m sorry, I’m not laughing it’s just mildly amusing." Chuckling he stood up as he stretched himself out looking at the new door he created. "I guess ever power has his own downside. Take me for example, it can be fun to put people to sleep and mess a bit around whit their dreams but even my power has a downside. You see, the more I use my powers the sleepier I am when I wake up and then I have the tendency to fall asleep on rather inappropriate moments." Grinning he chuckles. "My dream walking isn't so tiring but forcing people to sleep is much more exhausting it seems and when I do fall asleep then it’s a dreamless sleep so I can't use my powers when I do so. You can see it as a recharge period I need if I use my power too much."
Once he stepped through the door he was a little caught off guard himself as he looked around. Obviously he hadn't expected such a nice place and the look of surprise was clearly seen on his face as the girl welcomed him in the mansion. "Wow ... Quite impressive. I expected a nice place but this." He looked around and laid his eyes on the paintings at the same time as the girl did. He didn't get it but somehow this place just made you feel at home. Maybe it where the girls emotions that reached him trough her dream but he himself found it great. "So mutants can come over here to stay if they want?" He was wondering how it would be to live here himself while looking around.

Falling asleep at strange moments definitely topped losing the color in your legs. Hands down.
Twyla smirked at his reaction to the dream version of the Mansion. "Swank, right?" Still the perfect word for the Mansion. "The school is nice like this all over." Her hands swept the room as if to emphasize her point.
"Yeah. A lot of runaways stay at the school--kids like me that need to get back in the habit of school work and all that." Her face didn't flush at this comment and her voice didn't catch, it seemed as if Twyla was finally getting used the the fact that she'd ran away all those months ago.
"There are some older mutants too that stay if they need it. It's free..." The girl paced around the foyer as she searched for any other interesting tidbits to add. "I think they get a lot of private donations." She speculated out loud.
I love this place... The girl thought as she walked around the dream carpet, totally forgetting that her thoughts weren't shielded from the dreamwalker standing a few feet away from her. "So do you want to see anymore? Or do you have anymore questions or anything?" Twyla's pool of knowledge wasn't exactly perfect but she'd do her best to answer the man's questions--he had after all dealt with Cthulhu.
Forcing a giant clay monster to wither and sprout branches gave you mega brownie points.
Brian smiled while he listened to her conversations and her thoughts as well. Being in a place whit more mutants seemed appealing and especial since it was free. He hadn't much capital at the moment so being at a place free of charge was definitely something that caught his attention. "Yes this place is indeed pretty awesome."
Walking over at her he smiled. "Well i would love to see whatever you want me to show me of this place. It is quite fascinating and so I'm more then happy to find out more about it." Smiling he waited wondering what she would show next while the it became more and more obvious whit every second that the girl found this more of a home then anywhere else before.

'Pretty awesome' didn't really cover it, but Twyla let it slide--Brian didn't live at the Mansion so he didn't have her insight and biases towards the place. It was a good place for her at the moment so her adjectives would have been more colorful and thought provoking, but she was going to let it slide. Twyla blamed it on the books. Reading too much must give her a strange dream vocabulary or something.
She ran her hands along the wall before turning back and smiling at the man. "Well, upstairs are the bedrooms." The girl motined at the twin stairwells as she walked towards the hallway that the red carpet led down. She tried to picture the rooms as best she could as she talked about them. "The classrooms are down there and so is the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Outside they have a pool and a basketball court."
"If you wanted the real tour you could come back during the day, there's always someone here to greet people and sign new students up." Speaking of students, she had class in the morning--what time was it? Instinctively Twyla looked at the clock in the hall and then remembered that she was still dreaming and that hall clocks probably didn't tell good time after you fell asleep.
"I guess I don't really know how old you are or if you need a place to stay--I'm just saying the option is there." The girl's shoulders lifted and fell as she shrugged. "There's always the Sanctuary too--I stayed there once before. There's a lot of adults there if you'd rather get away from school children." The blond was babbling now, expelling random information like a running blender without a cover but he was trying to be as helpful as possible.
He smiles as he quietly listens to her while she gives him a small explanation about everything in this place. "Well I'm still doubting what to do now i got here actually but its nice to know that there are options and places to go too. For now i got a temporary apartment until i can settle in somewhere definitely."
He looks around for a bit before turning to her. "Well maybe ill come back during the day once to check this things out but thanks already for the small tour and the information. At Least now i have something to look forward too."
Grinning he saw her watching the clock. "Oh don't worry, this dream won't keep you asleep. You will wake up at the same time as you always wake up ... when you don't have a nightmare that is and unless something or someone wakes you up. And a friendly advice... You better don't relay on clocks too much in dreams, here perception of time can easily be altered ... Well actually everything can be altered but that's probably just for me."
He chuckles before walking over to her. "Anyways i think it is almost time for us both to move on but i think its maybe best i don't leave you behind in this empty mansion so is there any place you like to spend the rest of your dream in hmm ?" He looks at her curious deciding to put her in a happy dream of her choosing for her helpful information.

The Mansion could definitely be something to look forward to. "Well, I'm glad I could have been of some help." Twyla smiled at the man with her politest and nicest smile.
"That's good to know, I'd hate to miss class." That was actually the truth--the girl was cramming in as much learning as possible with the hope that she'd get caught up and then some so that she could start college in a year or so. "You know, I realized that it probably didn't make any sense to look at a clock in a dream--especially not when I'm standing next to a mutant with the ability to manipulate anything here." A small giggle escaped her lips there. "I'm gonna say it's just you that really gets to do whatever you want in dreams."
Brian walked the distance between them and told the girl that in essence 'it was about that time'. Twyla agreed, she was curious as to what a dream without Cthulhu would feel like--she could barely remember. Thinking for a moment, the blond made her decision. "How about that loft we were in earlier? I'd like to go back there if that's cool with you." She smiled again at him. It was a simple place and simple was what the girl needed at the moment. Simple and calm.
He smiles "Sure ill let you go back there" He placed his hand on the wall that rippled outwards from where he had placed his hand on it. The walls started to change and split open as another of his doors appeared that he used to move trough sections of dreams he made. "I adjusted it so you can go where you please in that place until you wake up. The memory's you have from that place will always bring you where you want to go."
He stepped aside and looked at her "But before i go i have some advice still for you... Do you remember our little friend still" He put his hand in one of his pockets of his jeans and suddenly pulled a snow globe out. Inside of the sphere was a miniature version of the clay monster angrily trying to get out. "He will not bother you anymore tonight but i can't promise he will never come back... But if i get it right from what thoughts i got trough from you, it was defeated by you and some friends of you right?" He smiles shaking the globe to anger it even more.

Dream-walking was indeed a kicka$$ power, no doubt about it. The possibilities of things that could be done in someone's dreams were endless. It seemed like it would be fun to be able to do whatever you wanted without any real world repercussions--falling asleep at random moments aside. She watched with interest as yet another door appeared to, she assumed, transport her back to the dream loft and whatever waited for her there. "Thanks." The girl replied with a smile after the door finished appearing.
"Of course I'd remember Cthulhu..." The blond muttered under her breath to the question that was probably rhetorical anyway. It was a knee-jerk response and she hoped Brain wouldn't take it personal. It was fascinating, if a little creepy how the man simply created a snow globe and included a tiny version of the clay monster--it all came back to how cool his power was. Elation filled the girl when she realized that the rest of this night, at least, was going to be scary clay-thing free. A blush tinged her cheeks when he said that she and some of her friends defeated Cthulhu.
"It wasn't me, I didn't do anything but make things worse for everyone--the other kids and a few adults were the real reason Central park is now Cthulhu free." She smiled, but a pit was forming in her stomach. Twyla didn't want to talk about it--it made her feel all sad and pathetic on the inside--so she jumped ahead. "So I guess I'll see you, maybe, if you ever decide to check 'this' place out, okay? Um, thank you for...helping me in my nightmare, this was a nice change of pace." The girl avoided thinking about the bile in her stomach or anything but holding her hand out for a good-bye shake.
He suddenly got it and walked over to the girl now knowing why she had that nightmare. instead of shaking her hand he placed the snow globe in it. "Now i see why you get haunted in your dreams by it ... You keep beating yourself up that you think you are useless and that's why he comes after you during your dreams." He smiles looking up at her knowing that he was absolutely correct.
"As long as you keep doing that I'm afraid that he will keep haunting your nightmares ... It may not be easy but look at it this way : You might haven't been able to help a lot but there are people that care about you and they looked out for you and I'm sure that one time you will be able to repay them back properly." Guided by her thoughts and memory's that she recalled from seeing that thing he could get a rather detailed idea of what happened that night while he placed his hand on the snow globe.
A warm light filled the orb and when he took his hand of the clay monster was gone. Instead there was now a miniature version of the mansion inside and before it stood small replica's of all the people she knew inside of the mansion. They stood all behind her own replica inside the globe. "Well now that i have said my thing its time to go for me." The mansion slowly seems to disappear leaving only the room they are standing in still there. The door too the new dream opens for her while he smiles. His own body becoming see trough now too as he slowly fades away. "It was a pleasure meeting you Twyla and don't worry... i have the feeling we will meet up eventually again... but until we meet again ... Sweet dreams" He shakes her hand but leaves the new snow globe whit her before completely disappearing out of her dream.

Instead of a shake, Twyla got a snow globe filled with mini monster. As the man spoke she examined the tiny, angry creature with morbid fascination. It really was amazing--that he could go into her head and get something to look so perfect. Twyla had never met someone with a similar power before so she was still very impressed by it. Brian hit the nail on the head with his summation of the situation. It made sense that she'd be haunted by the monster if she allowed herself to stay down over that night in the park.
But still...
She really hadn't done anything of value, just fallen on Gawain and almost gotten Henrietta seriously hurt. That night she'd made dumb decisions--maybe nightmares were her penance for those stupid mistakes?
She nodded her head slowly when he tried to get her to look at the situation from another angle. He had a point and she saw that point but still...
It was hard to think about.Twyla shoved the thoughts from her head and let herself enjoy the moment when the dream-walker manipulated the contents of the snow globe with some more of his light. "That is so cool..." The girl murmured, taking in the tiny versions of herself and her friends. When she looked up again the man was fading. "Nice meeting you too, Brian. See you then." She smiled. "Thanks." A handshake and then he was gone. Twyla looked down at the tiny globe in her hands before turning to the door and steeping back into the tranquil loft.
