The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mettaliar's head continued to throb as he began to regain sense of surrounding. He realized the man who had bowled him over had recovered much more nicely than Mettaliar; nice enough to give him the impression that he had barely been hurt by the experience. The thought gave Mettaliar a little encouragement to lift up from his position and look at just who caused such a ruckus. His head still reeled from the blow and when he opened his eyes he wasn't quite greeted with clear vision, instead slight fuzzyness surrounding two figures. One was the average looking man that had appeared to be the person who bowled him over. He had extended his hand in sign of sympathy and Mettaliar accepted the help up. He was greeted with a particularly stronger British accent from him, yet he didn't have any trouble picking out words.
The other figure was what concerned Mettaliar at first glance. A green figure, yes green, with long hair and at first glance no eyes, had been dancing around the two in a state of panic and had been apologizing to them. The figure perplexed Mettaliar's not too normal mind, yet when the British-accented cannon ball spoke to her and apologized for apparent carelessness, he realized that it wasn't his mind playing tricks as the females voice replied back to them.
Finally he stood straight up and rubbed the ever-growing bump and bruise on his head. Hearing again the man address him, he looked to him while trying not to let his face grimace with pain too much. Feeling that the man seemed quite sorry for what had just happened, Mettaliar shook his head at his suggestion of going to the nurse and gave a welcoming smile. As best he could at least.
"No no, it's fine. Just a bruise. I've taken worse." And have the scar to prove it. "Sorry for not getting out of the way in time, quite a shock to see a man barreling toward you; probably should work on reaction timing." Great, more excuses to head to the danger room.
Mettaliar then took notice of the girl; he noticed her continuing to dance in a state of panic and nervousness. Being the shy guy around, and a complete sucker for, frightened women, he chuckled to himself and tried his best to calm her. "Calm down, will ya? I'll be ok; just be more careful, both of you. There are younger kids here, after all." Mettaliar smirked at his sudden use of the "older person" voice. This only became more entertaining as he looked at the girl again, noticing that she may have possibly been older than him. Ah well, hopefully she won't take it too seriously.
Out of instinct, Mettaliar turned to the man. "How about you? Seemed like a nasty fall." His concern seemed to be of no need, as the kid seemed unscathed by the happenings. Well... let's hope he just isn't faking anything serious.
>>"It's alrigh' I wasn' looking and I bumped into ya."
An excuse... and not a very good one. In the end it was still she who had came to an abrupt stop at the top of the stairs, not a very smart move now that she put some thought into it... Tom looked unscathed, and she thought back to his description of his mutation. Perhaps the fall had simply been like another jump off of a building? A much bumpier slide down a statue?
The ideas didn't calm her any... but then, was one supposed to be calm after knocking a person...er... two people down a flight of stairs? She briefly recalled when her mother had fractured her elbow after such a tumble... Mind you, it was a smaller staircase in her home as well.
She waited as they disentangked themselves from each other- no longer bouncing on her feet or 'helicoptering' her arms about. Her eyes followed them worriedly, before landing on something. Was that blood?! Oh dear! One of them (or possibly both) was surely bleeding to dea- oh no wait... there was a meatball in it. She sighed, relaxing a little. It was just food. Both males were standing now, she turned her attention to the Newest one as he spoke...
>>"Calm down, will ya? I'll be ok; just be more careful, both of you. There are younger kids here, after all."
Sighing quietly, Andrea calmed down a bit... er, she forced her self to calm down a bit...which just meant she was less shaky on the outside, and more panicky on the inside. A fair trade, if she said so herself. Chewing on the inside of her lip, Andrea tucked her hands in her pockets and peeked meekly out at the two from behind her glasses. And the day had started out so well... too... The man seemed to be okay... no visible bruises or bleeding wounds that she could spot. Wait, younger? Why did everyone think she was- Sigh... let it go, Andrea. Let it go. She opened her mouth, starting to apologize again, then clamped it shut tightly until the urge passed.
"I'm glad your both alright... Sorry about the food casualty though..." A hand emerged from her pocket to point absently at the Meatball smear Tom now wore...
Once the guy was back on his feet Tom felt a bit better. He looked like he would be ok with an icepack and a few minutes rest. No permanent paralysis, yay! He still looked a bit sore though, and Tom could see the bump on his dome, nothing an icepack wouldn't fix though. Tom remembered having bumps like that back in the day, back in his hooligan days. No fun, but completely bearable. Never the less, this guy may not have had the experiences that Tank had, everyone's upbringing was different, and you had to cater for that.
Andrea seemed to accept that he was taking part of the blame for it and hopefully it helped. She was quite rapidly calming down anyway so the English boy wasn't too worried about her. Presumably she had been around accidents like this before, presumably she had seen people get hurt. it was an initial shock, but once you calmed down situations like this were particularly easy to manage. Now back to the task at hand, making sure this guy was ok, and then introducing himself. If he wasn't careful he was going to get a reputation, first person he met here, tried to steal from, threw water at her face. Now the second person, fell down stairs and smashed him into a wall. Great way to meet people huh?
The other teen said he was fine and didn't need the nurse. He said he had taken worse and apologized for not getting out of the way in time. Tom chuckled softly at that. If anybody was at fault, it wasn't this guy. Well now that they had all finished being all nicey nicey to each other the guy got serious. He put on the big boy shoes and told Tom and Andrea to be more careful, there were young kids around the mansion who could get hurt. Tom nodded, that was fair enough. Not everyone had the gift of invulnerability. In fact, many mutants didn't have a gift at all, Tom considered himself very lucky with his powers, after all, many people ended up with something that they not only couldn't enjoy, but something that made their lives worse in fact.
Then it was the other guy's turn to be sympathetic. He checked that Tom was ok and the Englishman smiled. "Yeah mate, I'm righ' as rain. Thanks to my mutant perks." He gave a cheeky smile before continuing, "See, my power's invincibili'y. I can' get 'urt, so falling down some stairs ain' a worry in the sigh'est." He extended a hand to shake and introduced himself. "Tom Barker. You?" He finished.
After all of that was over Andrea noticed the big old food stain on Tank's jacket. He sighed and poked at it with one finger. "Yeah, bi' of a pain in the bum in'it. Well I guess we're gonna 'ave to divert our trip then aye? Looks like we'll be going to the laundry after this." He laughed, "I'm new and she's takin' me on a tour of the place." He added to the other boy just in case he hadn't already picked up on it.
