The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I told you that my job appreciated my skill set." She shrugged and watched how Susan's olives jumped. It took a moment, bus Noel eventually realized she had been selfish in letting the conversation revolve around herself.
"What about you? No job, kids, or picket fence?" It just didn't seem the fate of New Yorkers. Or mutants. Especially not Mutant New Yorkers.

An olive shot out of the plate and bounced off a nearby chair. Susan's gaze didn't follow it. She glared at Noel. "Do I look like I have kids?" she asked with sincere curiosity. She left a moment or two for her to contemplate before she shook her head "I'm a high school senior. Or, used to be, before I developed a mutation and refused to be exorcised. Since then... um. I am trying to learn about how mutants live..." She turned back to her plate, and roled the olived to the side, giving up on them completely and turning her attention to easier-to-catch pieces of food. "So, you make people forget stuff for the government?"
Usually a retort like that would have carried quite a bit of sass. Instead, Susan only sounded and looked curious. She also said that she was a high school senior. Blink. High school? Noel counted on her fingers. Yeah... she was the right age for that. Well shucks. So much for a friend her own age.
"There are schools that won't try to peel your skin from your body, if you care to finish your education." Though it was often a runaways excuse to quit when they had the excuse of potential lynching.
"So, you make people forget stuff for the government?"
"Sometimes for money."
This girl didn't seem to require that she display any remorse so Noel didn't bother faking any. "You have a place to live?"
Noel leaned back in her chair. There wasn't a whole lot left on her plate. Greek food was pretty good. She made a note of that.

"There are schools that won't try to peel your skin from your body, if you care to finish your education." "So I hear." Susan nodded, thinking about the few pices of information she'd gathered about the so-called Mansion "I only have one semester left, and I intend to finish it... I just need some time to get the mutation thing straight first." That, and find another school. She highly doubted the old one would accept back someone who ran away from her foster family and was seen conversing with demons in a friendly way. "Sometimes for money." That made the young witch smirk. Noel didn't seem to be ashamed of that part of her occupation. It only made sense. Susan liked it. "You have a place to live?" She nodded. "Yes. I am staying with a... um, friend." It was weird, saying it like that, Susan never had friends "It's only temporary, till I figure out where to go next, and turn 18 so I won't get dragged back to my foster family." Only a few more days... Susan blinked and looked down at her plate. When has she ever shared this much with a stranger? Weird.
"I only have one semester left, and I intend to finish it... I just need some time to get the mutation thing straight first."
"You will always have your mutation. You may not always have the time or opportunity for education." Noel gave her best imitation of her mother's stare. Though Noel wore contacts and not reading glasses, she hoped the effect was direct enough to get the message across. "Don't put it off too long." It would, of course, have to be the girl's own choice. If the choice were forced upon her, she would not take it to heart.
Susan was staying with a friend. She seemed to be taken care of.
"Well if you're set and need nothing more of me, I have things to re-learn." She shuffled around in her pockets. Which one had the cash? Oh. That one. Noel counted out enough to cover tip.

"You will always have your mutation. You may not always have the time or opportunity for education. Don't put it off too long." "Trust me, I won't." the witch smirked. Education was something she alway enjoyed. Whenever it proved to be a challenge. Unfortunately high school had ceased to be a challenge for her a while ago. Now it was only a matter of finishing it and getting some papers, and hopefully she was free to go on to real education. "Well if you're set and need nothing more of me, I have things to re-learn." "Yes. Thank you for the talk." Susan nodded as they stood and gathered their belongings. She looked at Noel for a while before she asked "Are you going to remember me, or an exchange of phone numbers would be pointless?" Because Noel was such an interesting person to converse with.
"It wouldn't be pointless if I do this." Noel held up her phone and snapped a photo. Candids were always the best. Get them in that natural state. Their natural reaction to the world. She handed her phone to Susan after attaching the photo to a name. Susan could edit it to add her number. Noel opened her book to take a few more notes.
"I may not remember you directly, but I will know enough to have a pleasant conversation, I hope."
She made sure to note that the girl could taste the mutant gene. She would make a good sniffer for them if they had the need. Though of course the mutants they chased down were trouble makers that usually didn't bother to blend in with society. Because Susan's mutation was so... harmless, Noel didn't see a need to get her a tag. Besides. It was Noel's day off. And she would have her phone number after this.
"Call me if you're ever in trouble." She repacked her things. "and have a good rest of the day. It was... nice... actually. To talk with you."

"I may not remember you directly, but I will know enough to have a pleasant conversation, I hope." Susan was not happy about the picture, but she wasn't someone who cared enough about appearance enough to ask for another one. She added the phone number and handed the phone back. It was weirnd, knowing next time she met Noel she would probably only remember her from the notes. She'd better be good at taking notes about a person. Well, at least she thought Susan was worth the effort. She appreciated that. There were so many people in her life she would have liked to forget about... "Call me if you're ever in trouble. And have a good rest of the day. It was... nice... actually. To talk with you." Trouble? Susan was not the kind who would get into trouble. At all. "Same here" she nodded "It was nice. Thank you." Another day, another meeting, another mutant. Another experience. And it was going really well so far.
