A Sermon to All Who Should Hear ((Open))

The more Aras spoke the more sorry for him that Juka began to feel. What kind of life must it be to have no one for support, no friends or anything. His dedication to what he believed was, in its own way, admirable but how could one sacrifise so much for such a thing? Juka wasn't even sure that the preacher man had any idea what it was that he was truly missing out on. Would he have made the same decision had he had the opportunity to have the kind of social network that Juka had himself always enjoyed? It was profoundly sad when thought about in such a way and no wonder he was the type of person that he presently was. Really, what choice did he have?

"First, Aras, we simply must open your eyes to the wider view of the world. So you had a bad experience, that certainly doesn't mean all experiences will be bad. I will take it upon myself to show you what the world has to offer, beyond your religion and your god. I'll show you what its like to have friends and support and, I do so hope that the lovely Susan here will agree to help me." It seemed the right thing to do. Aras had clearly had a bad experience but one experience didn't mean that all experiences with other people would be bad and even as judgemental and self righteaous as the preacher was, Juka understood. He felt it necessary to try and take the boy under his wing and show him what it was like to have a real friend. Besides, it wasn't as if Juka hadn't been accused of being high maintenance and difficult to deal with at times.

"And as for money, I don't want either of you to worry another moment about it. I have plenty of money for all three of us and consider the icecream to come to be my treat to you both." Juka smiled and began walking out of the alley, pointedly going in the opposite direction of where the angry mob still was. No, offer of friendship or not, he most certainly did not want to deal with angry mobs. Even if he could just float away from them where would that leave his two newest friends?
