The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>“How big is this place? Really I mean, I know the grounds are massive, it took me ages to walk from the edge to the gate and that was just one side, do you know how big the whole place is?”
Shrugging, Andrea took her eyes off of the path she was walking to peek over her shoulder at Verdi. "I can't say for sure how big this place is, but on my second night here I spent the better part of an hour trying to find my way from the front door back to my room. It's what I imagine a mall to be like, accept its not quite as open, and they halls aren't full of many people in a hurry." She scrunched her nose up in though, turning back to watch were she was going, and promptly ran her hip into the side of a long thin table that was lining the wall. With a soft hiss, she managed not to tumble over herself and managed to catch the vase full of silk flowers that toppled from the center of the table. "Ack! I think I shall keep my eyes on where i am walking from now on." Clearing her throat, she started onwards, turning down a hallway that she was pretty sure led to the library.
"When we get there, make sure you have a good grasp on your jaw. The first time i saw it I'm pretty sure Shin had a clear view of my tonsils." With a snort, Andrea came to a stop in front of the supposed Library door. With a cautious peek inside, she found that it was indeed the Library and opened the door fully for herself and Verdi to enter. She felt a giddy, bubbling excitement swell up within her chest again and resisted the urge to run into the room and dance around like a child in a candy store.
"Voici!" Andrea stepped inside the room, letting her hands sink into her pockets once more as she moseyed on over to a shelf to browsed. "I've been looking for a book Called Metropolis, but the sheer size of this place limits how far I can look in one day." She grinned over her shoulder at her friend.

~"When we get there, make sure you have a good grasp on your jaw. The first time I saw it I'm pretty sure Shin had a clear view of my tonsils."
The warning rang true and as they approached the door Verdy clenched her teeth together. Who knew, in a mansion full of mutants, maybe someone lurked in the library something akin to a dentist, who took pride in making people open their mouths really wide. That, or it was hugely impressive. Either way it was best to be prepared, and as Andrea opened the door she diguised the frantic pressing of her hand against her bottom of her chin as an itch.
She followed her friend into the huge area and felt her eyes widen. With another casual scratch she let her hand drop and stared around the huge area. It was truely impressive, suited indeed to a mansion.
~"I've been looking for a book Called Metropolis, but the sheer size of this place limits how far I can look in one day."
She glanced at the green-skinned girl and quirked an eyebrow.
"Don't they have some kind of database that you can search? I mean, a list of all the books they have and where they're kept?"
That was what she dimly remembered from her school library, although if it was kind of like a giant house, maybe it wasn't deemed necissary.
>>"Don't they have some kind of database that you can search? I mean, a list of all the books they have and where they're kept?"
Pausing from her meager search, she turned and glanced at her roommate with her dark eyebrows raised in thought. "You know, I didn't even think of that! I've barely gotten past the first few shelves let alone the next two stories." Her eyes caught sight of something that looked suspiciously like a computer, and after setting the book down she had been reading, she moved over to it. "I think, my friend, that you hit the nail on the head..." Wriggling the mouse around proved the statement right. Before her eyes unfolded a web page with a search bar and titles of books, as well as where they would be cataloged among the various shelves. A soft grin curled her lips as she tapped in the name of her book. "Maybe the will have it after all, and i won't have to spend a month scouring shelves for it!" The screen paused for a moment, thinking, before bringing up the results. Metropolis, by Elizabeth Gaffney... She tilted her head up and glanced to where the book was supposed to be located. Third floor, section G-k, Fiction. With and inward groan, Andrea turned and pointed sheepishly up towards the stairs.
"Looks like we are going up, Friend." As she moved forward to start the semi workout the many steps presented, she found herslef glad to have another along with her. Her library back home, while full of knowledge and interesting books, had been so very cold at times. Without her mother and father home, it had been as if she were the only person who existed within the spotless, confined walls of her house. Verdi was a welcome and needed change, something she would be thankful for, for many years to come. With that in mind, she found herself already half way up, just stepping onto the second flight of stairs as her thoughts turned back to the task at hand. "Don't let me hog all of the time here, if there is a book you would like to find, might as well get it now, no?" She turned her hidden gaze back towards her friend and she rounded the top of the stairs. Then her eyes moved away again, to scan the shelves as she walked by. She shifted past a short section of Science fiction, moved towards the middle of just plain fiction, and let her eyebrows raise when she noticed just exactly how tall the shelves were.
" Who ever built these must have been a giant...."

~"You know, I didn't even think of that! I've barely gotten past the first few shelves let alone the next two stories."
Stories, books, Verdigris was confused. Somehow searching for the book you wanted, storyline by storyline didn’t make any sense, especially when you knew what it was called- oh. Her eyes lifted and the sheer size of the place again astounded her. Three floors devoted entirely to books. She was sorry she didn’t have her glasses with her, but at the same time glad that she had a friend to hunt with. Up indeed. She trotted happily beside her green friend, eyes darting everywhere, trying to absorb the sheer size of the place.
~"Don't let me hog all of the time here, if there is a book you would like to find, might as well get it now, no?"
She grinned, it could take months to go through all the books just in the science fiction or fantasy sections. Especially if she stopped to read every blurb, the way she usually chose a book. That and the cover, if the picture was no good, well then, wasn’t that a statement on the work inside.
“I’ll have to come back sometime with my glasses so I can fully appreciate it. I can read all the spines and everything I mean, I’m not blind or anything without them, small print just gives me a headache.”
The section they were wandering through looked to be science fiction, from the spines covered in syringes or green goo or a spine that cried boldly ‘Don’t Panic.’ She let her eyes linger across the spines as she followed her friend silently. When the body in front of her stopped she halted and followed the shaded eyes of her roommate. Up and up and up and up.
~" Who ever built these must have been a giant...."
She glanced down and had a moment of giddiness, passing in less than a second. She grinned widely at the girl.
“That, or maybe they had a mutation solely to do with carpentry.”
Hey, it was possible. Verdigris had come to believe, over her time living in NYC and especially since she had been meeting new mutants, that nothing was impossible. She had seen things she had never even heard of when she lived in Hawaii. Unfortunately not all good.
Casting her eyes around she found a ladder, propped against the shelves for easy browsing of the higher tomes. She glanced back at her friend.
>>“That, or maybe they had a mutation solely to do with carpentry.”
She snorted. What an amusing thought that was! Maybe a lot of good carpenters were really just mutation afflicted humans... Maybe that was what Noah had been, and how he had build an arc big enough to hold two of every animal?
She snorted again. Oh, if mother could hear her now. She was nearly sure she would get an earful about talking that way, possibly even thinking such.
>>“Hey, that might work.”
Further thoughts on her religious upbringing, were dismissed as soon as the girl spoke. Andrea's eyes followed, landing on the ladder, and her eyes brows rose. How on earth was she missing all of these things? She scratched at her cheek meekly, perhaps she was more tired than she had originally believed. "You say you need glasses, yet you have a sharper eye than I do." The green skinned one clicked her tongue, a habit her mother had rubbed off on her and moved towards the ladder. "I think I would truly be lost if not for your presence here." With a lopsided grin, tusks and all, she tugged the ladder over carefully, edging it in to place, then stood and started climbing. About Halfway up, she stopped and scanned, her eyes not finding the title she sought after. A few more cautious steps brought her to within an arms length from the top, and after a little bit of searching, she spotted the book she wanted. "Ah Ha! Got you, you little devil!" With a chuckle, Andrea climbed the last few steps on the ladder and reached for her book, only to find that she lacked the proper arm length to grab it. A frown settled on her lips. A glance down the length of the ladder showed her that this particular model had no wheels, so pushing it to the side was out of the question.... and she surely felt that climbing all of the way down only re adjust it a wee little bit was completely ridiculous. Her mind settled on an option, she would go for it. Of course, she had never been known for making the best decisions... and this was certainly not one of them. She leaned out and stretched, angling one leg out onto the bookshelf itself to give her more reach, as one hand and one foot hung on desperately to the ladder. Her gloved fingers found the book quickly, and in a rush of excitement, she felt her foot on the book case slip. The book went flying, while Andrea screeched and latched onto the shelves as best she could, which, really wasn't all that well at all. With her feet slipping more yet, she used her meager amount of strength and her grip still on the ladder to hoist herself up onto the top of the bookshelf. Her rump settled and after bringing her hands to her face, she grimaced at the ungodly amount of dust that had collected on the top shelf... as well as some other items.
With a tilt of her head, she picked up an old, worn looking comic book that looked as if it had been flung up on top of the self, and motioned for Verdi to join her. "You woulden't believe some of the things up here- Oh, this book is kind of funny!" Andrea giggled and glanced back to the shelf, was that a pair of socks?...

~"You say you need glasses, yet you have a sharper eye than I do."
She grinned at her green friend, she had been awake all day and intending to stay awake, Andrea was already in her PJs and brushing her teeth when Verdigris arrived, prepared for sleeping, in the mind frame for it. Sleepy people were always less observant than the same people awake.
She watched as her friend dragged the ladder over to the shelf and scurried up to almost the top. It would appear the ladder was in the wrong place. Her mouth opened in disbelief as the green skin of her friend moved from the safe aluminium of the ladder to the wood of the bookshelves with frantic wobbling.
She picked up the book gently and tucked it in the space in the front of her pants. A flitter of awkwardness tinged her thoughts, but she dismissed it. In the three years she had been living on the streets she had lost that hint of pudge left over from childhood and there was ample room for the book.
With a wave of her hand Verdy was beckoned to the top of the shelf. Giggles and the streaks of dirt on her friend’s face prompted her to hurry up the ladder. She would not be left out of adventuring, especially if it was funny. Her feet wobbled the ladder something terrible and as she made the final step onto the top rung the ladder wibbled, wobbled, rocked and finally began to fall, taking her feet out from under her. With a yell of terror she leapt onto the top of the shelf and made friends with the dust.
Cough, hack, splutter cough.
She looked at the ladder, watched its graceful fall. She hadn’t realised they were so close to the rail but the ladder hit it a little past it’s centre of gravity, tipped, hung suspended for a moment and flipped over the railing to the second floor. She winced as it crashed to the floor below with the clangs only given off by angry metal.
“Oops.”
There seemed no better words to describe what she had done or the remorse she was feeling. A pause, fumble, slight triumph.
The Awkward flop of her friend sent dust spiraling into the air, and her own coughs were soon to join the dark haired girls. She waggled a hand in front of her face, inching closer to make sure Verdi stayed on the bookshelf, and turned shielded eyes and raised brows at the wobbling ladder. It shifted this way and that, as if deciding which way to fall before it finally tipped a little too much and went clattering over the edge of the third floor to its doom. Andrea Winced, visibly cringing at the clanging below, before she glanced curiously at her roommate.
>>"Opps... Here's your book."
The short silence between them was shattered when a grin cracked Andrea's lips and she snorted in laughter, rolling back onto the dusty shelf. If it were not so vastly funny to her, she might have been upset, purely because of the fact that they were both now stranded.
Her laughs quieted and the green woman righted herself, wiping away a tear from behind her glasses as she reached out and took the offered book. "At least I will have something to read as we slowly starve to death, No?" She fought back another round of giggles and scooted forward on her knees to peer over the edge of the bookshelf. It was a good distance to the floor below, she couldn't estimate how far exactly... And she preferred not to break her legs in an attempt to find out. Shifting, she set her book at her side and let her gaze roam about, trying to find any feasible- and safe- way down. Her eyes landed on the shelves opposite.
"Do you think we could find a way over there?" She pointed across the room, her eyes fixated on the deep drop off the three stories created. Then, she noticed the suspended lights hanging from the ceiling and an idea hatched in her mind. Sure, it was a complete rip off of a trick many action movies used... but if it worked in the movies, who was to say it woulden't work for them? ....... She came to the realization quickly that she had most likely completely lost her mind.
"Maybe we could swing across on the lights?"
((-Is running on empty- Let me know if you get any better ideas. @_@ I need to sleep before my cerebral cortex explodes...))

~"Do you think we could find a way over there?"
Verdigris glanced quickly around their little shelf, little being a relative term due to the size of the library. Paper planes and dust lingered on top of the shelves, but between each row of shelves there was a gap. The gaps weren't nice and neatly arranged, the tops of shelves looked something like a maze, except instead of a clear path it was made up of areas small enough to clear in a jump.
~"Maybe we could swing across on the lights?"
Verdy felt a wave of nausea just thinking about it and she gripped the edges of the shelf. This was a library after all, and libraries pour their funds into books, not super-strong light cables. Mutant mansion library or not. Something she knew was nagging her, she just couldn't think what it was. A surge of electricity made the light above them flicker brighter for a moment, someone had probably switched something off in another part of the mansion.
She felt like a cartoon, where the lightbulb just flicks on over someone's head. Electricity, streaming through the cables was electricity. She was no electrician, but she knew electricity was bad to touch. True, it wasn't like they were poking forks into powerpoints, but it gave her the same kind of chills.
"If we were Tarzan, perhaps."
She personally had not been training at gripping things with her toes, no matter how 'immature' she sometimes behaved. She stood carefully and surveyed the situation. From where they were she couldn't see any ladders nearby, but the leap to the next set of bookshelves was an easy one. The cases were so heavy, and opened on both sides, so they were wide enough that they didn't wobble as she moved. That was good.
There was no clear path across the tops of the shelves, but if they zigged, and zagged, they could make their way across the tops of the shelves around the circular kind of area to the other side. Like rats in a maze. That better be some damn good ladder shaped cheese.
"I think, I hope, that we can run across the top of the shelves, they go the whole way round, and they won't pull out of the ceiling. We'll have to jump some of it, but it seems a little safer."
It would be a shame to have a friend, and a room, and a job-in-the-works, only to plummet to her death. She also liked Andrea far too much to watch her slip and die.
>>"I think, I hope, that we can run across the top of the shelves, they go the whole way round, and they won't pull out of the ceiling. We'll have to jump some of it, but it seems a little safer."
She had a point, Andrea wasn't about to argue. After a quick lance around, she felt she was ready. Maybe. "Okay, so... we run and jump.... like jumping rope, yes?" Though she was no handy with most things, Andrea had been pretty good at jump rope. Monkey bars and swings were out of her league, but she'd be damned if a short gap between book shelves was going to keep her and Verdi stranded. Sidling over to glance at the distance between the two shelves caused her to pause. Leaping was much different than jumping. All of her mustered confidence flooded away.
"I.... I have never done anything like this before. I'm not entirely sure i can jump that far." Her eyes rose from the gap, having already judged its length. What if she slipped? What if Verdi slipped? Would they simply break both legs, or would a cracked skull and brain matter on the floor be the unfortunate result? Either way, Andrea shifted back from the edge slightly, sending a now worried glance at the other girl. If only one of them was like Tarzan, then they could swing to safety with help from a secure vine and a deep elongated wail.
Of course, a monkey man physique probably came with toe hair and rank under arm order... traits she would rather not have accompanying her own unique features.

~"Okay, so... we run and jump.... like jumping rope, yes?"
Verdigris blinked and bit her lip a little, jump-rope, hmmm.
“Um, a little less up-and-down, a lot more, long jumpy…”
The green girl was doubtful, Verdigris could see the fear on her friend’s features. It would be a bit tricky, the hardest bit would be landing it on the other side properly, with enough balance not to wobble off the edge.
“Pity neither of us have flight as a mutation. Damned useless portal hands. Here, I’ll go first, at least that way you’ll have something soft on the other side.”
With a grin- Scared? Her? No! … ok, maybe a little. But they couldn’t stay up there forever.- she stood and walked to the edge, past her green skinned friend, and inspected the jump. There was no long drop in her mind, just a gap between two sticks on soft green grass.
Yeah, right.
She took a few steps back and three long deep breaths. Moving forward at a run she yelled as her feet left the edge of the bookshelf in a leap.
“Whaaaaaaa-hooooo.”
Talk about an adrenaline rush. Her feet hit the top of the shelf, followed swiftly by her knees and palms. There would be no point making it only to skid right to the other end and off. Scuttling around in a crouched position, she inspected the footprints in the dust. She had made it with plenty of room to spare. The green girl, even though a bit shorter, would be make it easy. The shelf really must have been bolted into the floor well because even with her leaping action neither wobbled. She grinned across at her friend and held out her arms.
A little less up and down... She could do that. A little more long jumpy? She glanced down at her squat legs and gulped. Hopefully her own height would not hinder her.
>>"..Here, I’ll go first, at least that way you’ll have something soft on the other side.”
She would have giggled, but that ability had all but slipped away for the moment. It might as well have left a 'Be back in an hour' sign hanging from her nose. With a semi nod, she looked from the menacing mini chasm, to the mass of book shelves around them. It would be quite a journey. With a gulp, she shifted to turn back to Verdi just as the girl when whooshing past her and leaped into the air. At first, Andrea jumped and darted forward to the edge of the book shelf, awestruck that she had made it... and without slipping of landing on her face too!
But then the realization that now it was her turn sank in.... she highly doubted her landing would be so.... graceful in a catlike way. >>“C’mon, I’ll catch you.” With a frown, she glanced from her roommate, to the floor below, then back at her roommate. If she refused she would be a coward... which she couldn't exactly argue about anyway or mind really, but there was a part of her that felt like she would be letting her dark haired Pirate Captain down if she turned yellow bellied and chickened out. Especially after my jungle woman vine swinging idea...
One more gulp, and her confidence found its way slowly back to her, if only a tid-bit at a time. She tried to mime what Verdi had done by backing up to giver herself more room, then set her footing an pushed off to launch herself forward. She got three steps before the dust underfoot slipped her up and just before she jumped she flew more backwards than forwards. Suddenly, she found herself preforming what had to be the worst attempt at a somersault, all the while the other bookshelf was closing in fast.
Well, there was a silver lining at least. Apparently she could jump higher than she had given herself credit for. Landing belly down and earning a face full of dust and book shelf, her nose shook hands with solid wood for a few moments while she skidded pitifully towards Verdi. Ow... Ow OW ow... The pain and dust filling her nostrils and lips distracted her greatly from the fact that she was still heading for her friend, and with as much grace as a rolling trash can she barreled into the poor girl, Sending both of them into a dusty entangled heap on the book shelf. With a cough, She managed a weak smile and "...well....*cough cough* you make a pretty good cushion on the bright side of things...."

The first mate- both of rooming and shippage- was going to do it, the backup was good, plenty of room to get up some speed. The start was perfect, a fine balance between speed and grace. Then came the slipping, and the falling and the flying. Verdigris felt her hands grasping, grabbing at the air, she was too far to make any difference, but with the all her willpower she was screaming encouragement at the girl. Not to. At.
Splat
There really was no other way to describe the way the green skinned girl landed. Crunch, perhaps for her nose. Crack, for the sound of the belly-flop. Squeeeek, for the skidding, slipping progress towards the frozen captain. And Whump for the inevitable collision. Really, what choice did either of them have. A little ditty from her childhood played in her head as the girl careered towards her in seemingly slow motion.
Can’t go over it. (can’t go over it) Can’t go under it. (can’t go under it) Can’t go round it. (can’t go round it) We’ll have to go through it. (have to go through it)
Legs swept from under her Verdy had no choice but to flop over and flail around in a tangle of arms and legs. Briefly the pleased thought that Andrea was wearing her gloves flitted through her mind as something biffed her in the side of her head, though, that may have been her own hand, she wasn’t sure. Somehow Verdy ended up under the green skinned girl, one foot dangling over the sickening drop. She sucked in a massive breath. That was close.
~"...well....*cough cough* you make a pretty good cushion on the bright side of things...."
“Told you-” Pause. Cover mouth. Sneeze. Continue. “That I’d catch you… Is your nose Ok?”
She touched a finger to her friends nose gently, careful not to dislodge the glasses miraculously still perched there. She rather liked being mobile.
It took her a moment before her head fully stopped spinning, then, she glanced done at the finger gently poking at her nose, and scrunched her nose in response. Not broken, obviously... but it still hurt like heck!
"... I think, if it is even possible, that I have sprained my nose..." She tested her scrunch reaction again and raised her hand from beside Verdy's head to prob at it herself. Yes, it hurt to poke it, and it most likely would for a while. "I am fine however, small scraps and bruises won't keep me fr- ACHOO!" Thankfully her hands had made it to cover her face before her unfortunate friend was covered in sneeze. Andrea felt herself flush a few shades darker and shifted, only then realizing the position she was sitting in- and that her tank top had rolled up quite a bit... and that she had an awful wedgie. A glance down at her roommate told her that she would have to wait to remedy that ailment. Right now, moving from her current position was far more important- especially when one had an open, ominous chasm at ones back. She shifted on top of the girl, trying to carefully pluck herself off of Vedy without knocking them both from the shelf, and found that removing ones self from a squatting position on top of someone was not only rather difficult, but embarrassing as well. Thankfully, she was rather oblivious to most of the implications their positions implied.
"Are you alright? I'd assume having someone knock you from your feet must have been equally as painful as my Graceful face plant..." Her nose throbbed as if to remind her of it.
She got to her feet swiftly, helping Verdi up as well, before she moved over to the edge of the edge of the shelf and sized up the next jump. And then the next, and the next after that. They seemed to be roughly the same distance apart, save where there were tables in between the shelves. Those gaps would need to be avoided.
"I'll jump fist this time... then you can land on me and we will be even." She adjusted her fleece pants quickly, making sure that the bottoms wouldn't get in her way, then took a few steps back and ran forward. This time, she stuck the landing with only a little stumble, and after standing and dusting her hands off she waited for Verdi to join her- ready to lurch forward and act as a pillow should it be needed.
(( I shall tweak things if you need me to, so let me knows! ))

Verdy’s eyes widened a tiny bit. Sprained. Her. Nose. Her mouth twitched a tiny bit, but she was able to hide her smile long enough as her friend spoke that it was masked by the sneeze. Verdigris had seen flu ads, warning against the spread of flu, demanding that people cover their nose and mouth when they sneezed. Never had she been more thankful that someone had paid attention to those ads for more than the ‘EW!’ factor.
Wriggle. Wriggle. Hope above hope there are no security cameras perched hidden somewhere in the ceiling. It would be funny for the security guard perhaps, not so much for them if word of it got about. But hey, in a school where people could fly, or had tails, there were surely more interesting things to gossip about than… encounters… atop library shelves.
Yeah.
She wobbled to her feet and surveyed herself for injuries. Fingers wriggled the way they were meant to, nothing seemed to be complaining louder than the general bumps and thumps of late-night adventures. She followed the gaze of her greenish companion and her eyes traced some idea of the path they should take. She nodded quietly and held her breath as her friend made the jump. This one was far more graceful and delicate, with only minor wobbling and no eating dirt. Dust. Whatever.
As her friend was a bit shorter than her, she cleared the leap without too much difficulty. The minor problem being that she jumped a little far, and came to a hand-flailing-stop mere inches from her friend. There are few things one can say when almost nose-to-nose with your friend you hardly know. Fewer when it is the middle of the night and they are in their PJs. She grinned, albeit a little awkwardly.
“Hi.”
A subtle step back so there was a more… reasonable… distance between them and she wiped her hands on her jeans. Nothing like adventures and late-night romps to make your palms sweat.
((OOC: Do we want to skip ahead to when we get to the other side, spend a post each lamenting the lack of ladder then PM Martin to rescue us? Also, sorry this took so long… stupid school.))
She resisted the odd urge to lick her friends nose, and waited until she had scooted back a bit to open her mouth and talk again. "Hi as well." Shifting slightly, she surveyed the rest of the jumps they would need to make, and which places they would have to avoid in order to skip the larger gaps and walls. In a way, it semi reminded her of a board game she had played a long time ago, when she still fit snugly in footy pajamas and had all of her babyteeth- er... baby fangs. Candy land. That had been the game if she was recalling it correctly. An imported game that one of her distant aunts on her fathers side of the family had sent her for Christmas one year.... or, maybe it had been shoots and ladders?... The second option would certainly be a lot more fitting of their current situation. Scrunching her nose in though, she pointed her plotted direction and took a wobbly running jump, barely making it over the gap with enough room for her heels to land solidly.
She spared but a moment to glance behind and make sure Verdy was following, before she darted forward and jumped the next gap. And then the next... and the next, and the next. And so on and so fourth, until she felt a bit wheezy and her ribs hurt when she breathed in. She hadn't had this much exercise in... well, in forever coming from someone who hadn't even left her own yard in all her staggering Twenty two years. Sighing, she wiped at her sweat laden brown with the back of her fore arm and sighed, straightening her back. She noticed then, just as Verdy was re-joining her, that they had only truly made it half way.
She deflated into herself just a bit, and resumed panting like a over heated dog. "...This- Gasp- Maze- wheeze- just doesn't- pant- want to end!" Her brows furrowed and she rested her hands on her knees, bracing herself against them as she leaned forward. "Maybe... we should- Pant- light some of these books on fire, and send-cough- an SOS in smoke signals...?" It was an idea, and a funny one too, if nothing else... And if that idea was shot down, she could always offer up the idea of screaming at the top of her lungs until someone eventually heard her and came to investigate....
Though, it would be a while before she was at full shrilly scream capacity again after that mad dash/hop across the bookshelves.
