The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The minute sound of someone walking echoed quietly down the hallway. Fade had a 'day off' a day that she didn't have to deal with alot of...well...things she'd normally deal with. This day was particularily...to be honest, boring. She didn't know where anyone was and the only people that she saw were people she didn't know. There were alot of new people...and because Fade had kept herself occupied with Deathstar, Raph, and her missions, she was not able to meet these new people and introduce herself.
As she walked down the hall, her memory took over and she engulfed herself in the memory of the first time she saw the mansion. It must have been maybe a year ago ((that just dawned on me, that I've been here for more than a year...)) that she attempted to hop the fence, not knowing that there were security measures to keep anyone from doing this. Goodness... she was a mess when she came, hair all matted up and greasy, little clothes to wear. Then again, she didn't have a home. This mansion has been her home, the only one she ever had. Of course, she has lived in houses and in locations, but none of them ever amounted to being called her home.
So she walked, quietly humming a tune that she had heard someone else singing, even though she didn't know the lyrics, she just hummed the tune (way off how the song is originally). She ran her fingers on the walls, ignoring her nails as they phased through and the skin on her fingers were able to touch the cool surface. Just waiting, for something, anything, anyone...
Nika finished putting all her new clothes away from her shopping spree with Nicki. Looking around her room she decided to explore the mansion some more. Might as well get acquainted with this place.
So she headed out into the hallways. She looked at the different pieces of art that decorated the halls. From paintings of scenery and people to small statues and other sculptures. Whenever she passed by a window she would look out at the grounds.
Nika turned a corner and bumped into another girl. Apparently neither of them were watching where they were going. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." Nika looked at the girl nervously. She didn't know how the girl might react.
The young woman took her hand off the wall and began to turn her nails invisible and then visible...invisible...visible. After getting bored with that, she focused and turned her skin invisible, showing her muscles. She then proceeded to turn that invisible too to show her bones, but she lost her interest when she turned a corner and bumped into another mutant. An unfamiliar mutant.
Goodness, this school sure got alot of new people that she hadn't met yet. For all Fade knew, this other character in front of her could have been living here for a while just Fade had never noticed. There were quite a few students, after all. After regaining her balance Fade spoke. "Oh no, totally my spot, I was a little..." she looked down at her hand and quickly turned it back to normal. "...mesmerized."
With that, she began to introduce herself. "I've never seen you before." After another second, she realized that she needed to state her name like any intelligent being would. "My name is Jenny but only a select few ever call me that. I merely go by Fade. Are you a new student or am I really that socially deprieved? Probably choice B, huh?" She chuckled. Sometimes people would shake hands, but considering how this was a mansion for mutants and there are those that can't be touched, she refrained.
Nika giggled softly at Fade's absent mindedness. "It's ok I wasn't paying attention either. I was too busy looking at the artwork." The young cat girl paused and smiled. "My name is Nika and yes I am new here. I just got here yesterday. It's nice to meet you Jenny." Nika offered her hand out to shake as she was trying to show that she was friendly.
She looked around as if to gesture with her eyes. "This place is pretty big. It reminds me of wher I grew up. Well...sort of." Her face slumped a little as her childhood memories flashed in her head. Shaking off the flood of images she refocused on the girl before her. "How long have you been here?"
Skoliro had been wandering around the mansion the whole day, bored out of his mind. It had to have been just one of those days judging by all of the others he had passed, unseen. No one usually was bored once he came around. They always seemed to be so interested in messing with his wings and bugging him about his power. Some times he just wished that they would treat him like an average person.
Skoliro chuckled to himself, like that would ever happen. Just then his sensitive ears picked up the sound of two bodies colliding. Probably just two mutants that were wandering about, just like he was, that hadn't been watching where they were going.
Stealthily Skoliro continued on, not being able to help his quietness. He could purposefully stomp his feet at every step to make his presence known, but that would just leave him with painful rug burn and ringing ears. Plus, maybe the other mutants had supersonic hearing of some-sort, he could accidentally hurt that one, and that wouldn't be good.
It felt odd to be called Jenny again. After all, there were only two people that had called her that since she lived at the mansion, Tricity and Raph. However, she knew that she needed to get accustomed to a real name as she would need to introduce herself as human instead of mutant in the future. "Oh, well, Nika, welcome to Xaviers, well, the sister school at least."
She paused as she did count how long ago it was that she had come to the mansion. "I've been here for a little over a year. It's the only place I call home. You'll love it." She shook her hand, glad to see that she wouldn't cause harm from touch. Never make assumptions with a mutant's powers, even if they look like...nevermind...
"So." Fade said, pointing to Nika's ears. "You a cat-girl mutant, I take it?"
Nika couldn't help but giggle and how straight to the point Jenny was. She seemed like a nice person from what Nika could tell however. "Yes, I'm a cat girl. Kind of like Daria." Nika thought for a second. Maybe Jenny didn't know who Daria was. "Do you know Daria?" The cat girl began playing with her tail nervously. "Sorry, since I'm so new I don't know who knows who around here."
"Very cool. I've always thought that was a cool mutation." She stated, meaning the cat-like appearance and senses. "Yes, I do know Daria. We don't know eachother as well as I wish we did, but truth is, we rarely ever see eachother and when we do, we're taking care of...well, incidents."
"Don't be sorry for not knowing the place. If you did know that Daria and I have met, I would be a little freaked out...unless you said that you were a telepath or some kind of future past see-er." She then reconsidered what she had said. Well, Jenny, that made no sense. What if she is a telepath or a future past see-er. Great, then she knows I am questioning whether or not she is taping into my mind...and now...what if she is? Stop thinking, Jenny, be blank in the mind. Completely stupid, just like how you're used to... With that, her mind shut off, well, in terms of ridiculing herself and she focused back on the conversation.
Skoliro continued down the hall, the voices getting ever nearer. He could hear every word they said, and could feel when they twitched. Was that a good thing? He wondered if either knew of his presence just around the corner and down the hall.
Click Suddenly his silent footfalls came to a halt, and Skoliro stood as still as a marble statue. Click He swung his head around, searching for the source of the noise. Click Ah-ha. Bending to his knees he reached out over the carpet and picked up a very tiny bug. Hello there my little friend. Lost, are we? A response came in the form of aClick and Skoliro stood, setting the bug gently nearer to the wall.
Skoliro knew that the bug wouldn't last long in the hall anyway, so why let a good meal go to waste? Reaching out with his mind he tapped the brain of the nearest insect-eating bat. Up for a mid-day snack? With that he moved on, soon reaching the intersection of another hall. Slowly he approached the corner, and peered around.
At the end of the connecting hall stood the two who Skoliro had been listening to. One with red hair, and the other with very fine white. But that wasn't what he was now smiling about. Really it was the ears and tail of the one with white hair.
"Well, thank you. I kinda like my mutation as well though I didn't realize there were so many others who were similar to me." Nika listened to Jenny as she went on about the cat girl possibly being a telepath and such. She couldn't help but giggle. "No, no I don't have any brain power...I mean sometimes I kind of seem like the stereotypical blonde but I can think." Nika shook her head with a confused look. "I'm sorry I meant to say I don't have any mental powers like telepathy." She finished with a big smile. One thing was for sure. Nika definately has an interesting personality.
Fade nodded until Nika started to talk about her lack of brain power. A serious face swept across Jenny as she ferciously held in her laughter. Did she know what she was saying? No brain power? It was decided, she was cool. Glad that was settled. Then she caught her own mistake and Jenny could finally let out that supressed laugh.
"Oh God! I'm sorry, that was really funny! I didn't know how long I could contain my posture. Phew!" She rubbed her green eyes and when they opened again, they were purple. She let out another laugh and wiped her right eye, closing it before she did so. When her right eye opened, it was an odd gold-ish-yellow color and her left eye remained purple until she blinked again. Then her left eye turned that gold-ish-yellow color while her right eye turned red. SHe hated it when one eye blinked and changed colors because she never noticed unless someone pointed it out or unless she happened to walk by a mirror, then she would have to figure out which eye was laging behind.
She heard a small noise and looked past Nika. It was another...another animal-looking mutant. Boy was Fade outnumbered. She waved to him after recognizing him slightly from the fusionist escape. She didn't believe she had gotten his name but who could forget his features? "Hi." She stated, still slightly laughing from Nika's response to the telepathy...statement...?
Jenny busted up laughing at the cat girls more than obvious blonde moment, and that made Nika smile brightly. She liked seeing people laugh. Especially if it was something she did to cause the humorous moment. "I was wondering how long it was going to take for you to crack up." Then Nika noticed jenny's eyes changing colors. "Umm..Jenny...your eyes are changing colors and neither of them match right now." Nika couldn't help but giggle at her own statement. "I think you blinked once too many times."
Then Nika's ears turned and focused on a noise. She turned to look and saw what looked like a bat boy. "Boy this place has ALOT more mutants with animal features than I thought." She heard jenny greet the boy and so Nika smiled. "Hello. Do you want to join our conversation?"
(ooc-sorry it took me kind of long to reply...today 7th was the last day of school...so...i was sorta busy..))
Skoliro till peered around the corner, deciding what to do. he could go talk to them, or he could just keep walking and avoid them all together. What to do...
Just then Skoliro realized that one had caught site of him. "Hi"Well, there was no turning back now."Hello. Do you want to join our conversation?" That was what he was planing, but now that she had asked him he was a little less sure.
((so sorry, last week of school {Sko, you suck} so I've still got to deal with that...plus, computer=dumb piece of poo))
Fade laughed. "Didn't take me too long." When Nika mentioned Fade's mismatched eyes, she immediatly looked down and laughed, kind of upset that she had lost the speed of her eye color. "I so hate it when this happens." With that, she pulled out a mirror that she kept in her wallet, just for this purpose and watched as now one yellow eye turned green and after the next blink, the other eye followed. After fixing this, she looked back at Nika with pink eyes and asked "They all good now? I hate it when that happens, happens so much! Sometimes, I don't even realize it, and I went days without changing it, once like I'm guessing it was a full week before I figured out why people were staring at me funny. Thanks."
Skoliro entered the conversation, always fun to have another. "No, we don't mind at all. I see Nika is glad to see another animal-ish mutant." She joked. "How have you been?"
Nika giggled as she watched Jenny's eyes change colors while she was explaining some of the troubles she's had with them changing colors. "Well, I think it's pretty cool that your eyes change colors. You'll never have to wear colored contacts for parties." Then Jenny looked up at Nika after getting her eyes to a pink color. "Ooh, I like that color."
Jenny started speaking to the new arrival and Nika's attention followed. "You can join us if you want." The comment Jenny made about Nika being glad about seeing another animal-ish mutant made the cat girl give Jenny a slight elbow nudge. "Well, there are alot of animal-ish mutants at the mansion I've noticed."
