The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"The ride might scare him a little", Calley parroted in his head, shifting his weight from foot to foot with a glare at the man. It would be so incredibly easy to take a peck out of his ear right now. But he didn't fancy the violence that would probably come afterwards, and he really shouldn't scare little girls by letting his manly red parakeet form be crushed in front of them. So with a chirrrip and a fluff of his feathers, he let it slide. This time.
“So what’s your name?” Kane asked the girl in a friendly tone.
“Katrina,” she responded. She was still a little annoyed at Ali for treating her like a six-year-old, but tried to keep it out of her voice. She might look young for her age, but for heaven’s sake, she was in middle school! She would be a teenager in 10 months. She was practically grown up, almost. The least people could do was treat her like an adult.
“And would you mind keeping a hold of Pinky for me? The ride might scare him a little.” Katrina narrowed her eyes at him. Now he was doing it, treating her like a baby. She weighed her options as to how to answer. She did want to hold him, but wanted to sound as grown up as possible. She also wanted to tell them not to treat her like a baby, but then, complaining wasn’t very grown up at all. She decided to let it slide. This time.
In her most grown up sounding voice she responded, “Yes, I will hold him, thank you.”
Kane smiled at Katrina. “Pleased to meet you Katrina, I’m Corporal Kane, but you can call me Jake. Have you had anything to eat this morning? If not I’m sure I can find you something once we get you and Ali to safety.” Reaching the jeep he opened the door for the pair of them and motioned inside. “Ladies first,” he said, with a wink at Katrina.
Around him the other soldiers had remerged from their concealed locations and swiftly mounted the jeeps. While none of them had weapons in hand, all were looking around for any sign of a threat. As far as they were concerned this was still enemy territory, and they could be attacked at any moment.
Katrina climbed into the jeep first and set her oboe case down on the middle seat. When she was seated in the back seat and had fastened her seatbelt, she held out her hand to Kane’s shoulder and Pinky hopped from the shoulder to her hand.
“What a lot of nonsense,” she whispered to the parakeet so that the adults still outside of the jeep couldn’t hear. “He treats people like they’re helpless babies. Honestly.”

The man gestured for Ali and Katrina to get into the vehicle. Ali waited for the girl to get in first then she followed. So far the men weren't trying to do anything to them but Ali wasn't dropping her defenses.
"So who's in charge at this safe place you're taking us to?"
“I work for a man who strongly disagrees with the registration bill and has the power to challenge it,” Corporal Kane explained, “You will be safe under his protection.” With them all in the jeeps the convoy sped off towards Mondragon labs. The soldiers were all still looking around for threats, but were keeping their weapons out of sight so as not to around the suspicion of the public.

Even with the gem's boost, Iris could only catch a word here and there, and nothing useful.
As the jeep pulled out, she moved into full view by the window. There was no way she could follow them. She had to hope that the men were allies, and that Ali could handle any trouble.
She walked back out into the hall. At the head of the stairs she paused, and sat down to think.
Obviously the rumors were true, that mutants were being registered by force. The condition of the Mansion was testament to that. So then, most likely, the rumors about camps being set up were true as well, a mutant version of the Holocaust. It had sounded like only dangerous mutants were being put there, but Iris doubted it would stay that way. If the Mansion residents had fought back, and it definitely appeared that the did, then it stood to reason that they'd be sent to the camps. In other words, if she found the camps, she'd find her friends.
And then.....
And then..... ......
Well....
Iris blew a strand of black hair out of her face. Okay, so maybe she should just find the camps first, then go from there.....
