The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Naveed was actually embarrassed with himself for not remembering the location of the medium shop. Granted, it had been over a year since he'd been there. Maybe close to two. But still he prided himself in having a good memory for places. (Usually wild places) So it came to pass that Naveed had to sit down and work his way through the internet- something he had very little experience doing- to try and locate the shop whose name he couldn't even remember.
His hands had been over sized for the keys and mouse and typing had proven quite difficult... but with some help from the public library staff and a bit of a bruised ego Naveed managed to get the information he was looking for.
He now stood outside the shop comparing it's likeness to the image he'd printed out. Yeah. This was the place. Now that he was standing outside it it was all too obvious he'd walked past it a million times.
He wasn't sure Tarin would be able to do a darn thing for him, but he was relieved to see that the place was still here. He knew he had a girlfriend, maybe a fiance back then... but for the life of him couldn't remember her name. But despite it all, the dream just didn't sit well with him.
He took a breath and pushed the door open, the bell jingling as he entered. He stood in the space and took it all in. Some people might walk into a place like this and consider it a novelty but Naveed accepted it with conviction.
"Hello?" he called managing to keep his voice a little less gruff than usual.
He mentally told himself to keep his eyes and words in check. He didn't want to order anyone around today.

Time at the shop was growing more and more scarce as things with the Kabal picked up, and Tarin had to admit that it didn’t hurt his feelings all that much. Instead of any number of crazies, fortune hunters, and genuinely distraught people filing their way into the fun-down building every day Tarin had pared the clientele down to a very select few regulars and the occasional walk-in. For the most part, though, business at the little shop was by appointment only.
Today was one of the rare days that Tarin actually spent in the shop, and the morning had been filled with appointments. Tarin could feel the headache coming on that usually resulted from a great deal of interaction with the spiritual types. For some reason, adrenaline seemed to counteract these headaches when Tarin was using the spirits to help in action packed situations…but when it was an irritating niece, nephew, grandson, granddaughter, or anyone else wanting to know where their loved one’s will was hidden so they could get to the inheritance before their relatives….his head started to pound in that spot right between his eyes.
Lee was out getting lunch and taking a walk, as the most recent customer left, Tarin laid his head on the large wooden counter the old-fashioned cash register sat on and wished she’d come back and rub his temples the way she did sometimes when his head hurt like this. The bell on the door of the shop jingled, and Tarin’s head shot up, hoping to see his wife, even if a part of him knew that her walks were never this short. Instead, a man walked through the door…a young man to be sure, but a man.
He spoke, and Tarin stood a little straighter, “Hello.” He responded, coming from around the counter and acknowledging the other man’s presence with a nod. There was something vaguely familiar about the man, but with as many customers as wandered in and out of the shop in a given month, Tarin saw vaguely familiar faces almost everywhere he went.
"Yeah, if anything I know you can." said Naveed with a smile. He crossed the distance of the shop that was between them so that he was now on the other side of the counter. "Naveed." he said re-introducing himself and extending a hand. "It's Tarin right? I met you over a year ago in this shop. You helped me with something but for the life of me I can't remember your girlfriends name." he admitted
He exchanged pleasantries and when that was all said and done he got down to business. "Like I said, you helped me a while ago... I've got great faith in your abilities." he nodded. "I've been much more open to the spirit world since then albeit in a different context." Naveed didn't talk to ghosts, no. He just saw giant spirit animals representing his loved ones. Riiight.
"Anyway... I was hoping we could have a session but you do look kinda beat today man. It's important to me but I can't see how waiting one more day would hurt if you'd rather I set up an appointment for tomorrow."
The experiences in the North really did humble Naveed. He was more of a human being now having gotten over the death of his friend. He felt a bit ashamed to be honest after everything his fellow mutants had gone through in the camps.
he looked his best attempt at apologetically at Tarin though inside everything felt twisted up. He knew there was something going on with his parents even if they were dead. But he wasn't the spirit medium here. He was just the bossy toddler.

Tarin nodded to the man as he pointed out that apparently they did know each other…and he thought that Tarin might be able to help. Part of Tarin was excited, as always, to help out his fellow man. Another part, though, winced at the idea. Helping people out like this always ended up causing trouble. It was apparently his lot in life, though and Tarin smiled as the guy held out a hand. Tarin clasped it for the customary moment and released it, eyebrows raising as he introduced himself as Naveed, then remembered Tarin’s name.
Naveed…the name was unique and it rang a bell, that was for sure, Tarin couldn’t place the man, though. The younger man continued to speak and Tarin nodded his head, pleased when Naveed explained that he was more open to the spirit world now. That was always a plus, Tarin thought, people who’d become more open minded because of his work. This guy was back for more, “Actually, I’m glad to hear it.” He said, “It’s rare that people are willing to actually open their minds to something that’s not necessarily tangible.”
Naveed commented that Tarin looked a little rough and he laughed and ran a hand through his hair, then shrugged his shoulders, “Nah, I’m doing okay. I’ve actually gotten out of this business for the most part. I found something else to line the pockets, and this gives me headaches. I pick out a few times a month to come in and work with people, though. This is one of those times.”
It was a bit of a relief, someone being understanding about the fact that Tarin’s job took a toll on him sometimes. The apologetic look from the other man didn’t go unnoticed and Tarin smiled, “Now, what can I do for you?” he said, squinting his eyes and looking around the room, it didn’t seem like any spirits had come in with the young man…but that didn’t necessarily mean anything. Spirits were fickle and surprising things at times. There was no telling how, or where they’d show up.
ooc: sorry for the delay, got promoted at work and have been so busy! ic: Naveed was relieved to see Tarin was going to try. The guy did look beat and Naveed could appreciate that. "Well even to you... this might sound a little crazy.." he cocked his head to the side and gave a bit of a smile. Around his neck was a claw on a string and he played with it while he spoke unconsciously. But when he realized what he was doing he held it up. "do you know anything about bears? Well I guess... in particular... animal spirits? I think you mostly deal with the spirits of people but my case is rather... unique."
He cast his eyes around the room taking in the environment, the books on shelves, the candles and kitchy things, even a dream catcher in the corner he thought. "I ah... I was on a vision quest. You know what those are I presume?" most people had a slight idea what a vision quest was even if it was misinformed. He was hoping Tarin would know a bit more. "I communicate rather well with my father on these quests. He's been dead about 10 years now and always takes on the form of a bear spirit..." he trailed off watching the light from a glass ornament bounce off the walls.
"but something... I think something is wrong..." he admitted "Im not sure how to explain it. I just had this... dream... I think it's something to do with my mother which is kinda crazy because she died when my father did... though I've never experienced her spirit... which makes sense I mean dad always felt he had unfinished business with-" he caught himself rambling and trailed off pausing for a moment. "Sorry. I'll stick to the facts." he grinned. "yeah, weird dreams, sense of fear in regards to my mother which doesn't make sense... but I can't shake them and I don't think my body or my wallet can afford another vision quest." he admitted.
Nice, so he wasn't willing to put his own body in jeopardy but he was fine if Tarin did? Well yeah. Kinda. Tarin did this all the time. Naveed did it about once a year and it required an expensive trip back home. He didn't have any special talents like Tarin. Talking to the spirit world nearly kills him everytime.
