The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Yes! Clea hopes she can master it so she won't have to run away. Then Daddy won't need to find a cure!" Twyla had no idea what to respond to the other girl's last comment. This conversation was a very strange one indeed. Luckily, she didn't have to right away because Clea had decided to show her powers to Twyla. The girl watched in fascination as Clea's hands seemed to crack and then suddenly they were leaves and they were floating on the wind.
"Hands are the hardest to form." She told her as she brought the leaves back towards herself and they began to slowly re-mold into her hands."Sometimes, a leaf gets left behind, and it hurts when they all come back, leaving it alone. It bleeds, and doesn't stop until it comes back." To Twyla it sounded like Clea's powers could cause her a lot of harm if she made a mistake. Some of the good things about not having an active power were that inactive powers usually didn't hurt the user or others as much as active ones. "Do the leaves that get left behind come back on their own eventually?" She asked after a moment.

Clea frowned at the comment, then slowly shook her head at that. "No, they don't. It's hard to find them if Clea's in a large area, like the ocean." She seemed to spasm/shudder at the mention of the mass body of water. "And.... It's possible to drown if Clea reforms underwater." She suddenly flashed back to the time she was five. "Forming around.... air is the safest...... Forming in water could make water go in lungs. And it hurts if not all are there, and there's a gaping hole."
She bit her lip, then smiled, not wating to hinder her friend with it. "But it's fine! Clea's learning!"

As Clea described what happened when she lost one of her leaves she looked very uncomfortable. It sounded scary and Twyla flinched when Clea did. Not for the first time in that conversation Twyla was thankful for her inactive power. She couldn't hurt herself with it, awkward situations might be more prevalent with her but she'd never lost part of herself before.
Before Twyla could ponder any harder the implications Clea described the other girl smiled and said "But it's fine! Clea's learning!" Her sudden smile pulled Twyla from her melancholy thoughts and she smiled back. "That's good, that's what you're here for." Not knowing what to say next she stood in front of the steps awkwardly. She was torn between the urge to practice and the need to be polite.

Clea smiled, then looked around. "Clea wants to learn..." She shrugged, then went up the steps. "Twyla and Clea can work together to make sure they succeed, right?" She smiled and nodded. "Clea and Twyla can practice together!" She stopped at the tops step, her legs already throbbing. "If that's okay, Clea means."
She wasn't going to force her opinions over someone else. That was one thing she wouldn't do. She would not become her father.

"Clea wants to learn..." Clea said after a smile and while walking up the steps. "Twyla and Clea can work together to make sure they succeed, right?" There was a smile and a nod from the younger girl before she went on. "Clea and Twyla can practice together!" She was at the top of the steps now while Twyla stood at the bottom. "If that's okay, Clea means." The other girl added, seemingly to avoid being rude or assuming.
Twyla's plans for that day had involved practicing, but not the mutant power kind. Her body begged to be stretched and pushed as only gymnastics could stretch and push it. Besides her body, her mind also wanted the break from being a mutant just for a few hours. If she practiced she could pretend that she was still the Old Twyla, still a regular teenager with very few cares in the world. She wanted that feeling but she didn't want to upset her new acquaintance. "Uh, Clea, I was going to actually practice something else today." She plucked at the green leotard. "I was a gymnast back home you see and I wanted to see how out of shape I am. We can practice our powers together another day though; I've never practiced with anyone else before, it could be fun. I hope you understand." Twyla's voice didn't sound mean or brisk. It was her usual voice--soft and honest and she hoped that Clea understood that this was not a brush off but she DID really want to practice her gymnastics.

Clea nodded. "Okay." She knew that there was more to everyone's life besides being a mutant. Although since she only had two friends, well, if Twyla considered herself Clea's friend she'd have two, she was glad to have met both. "Another day then." She nodded, then went down the steps. "It was nice meeting Twyla." She smiled. "Clea hopes to see you again." She couldn't really think of what else to say, after all, she didn't know gymnastics, she could barley walk without getting tired.
She didn't want to deny Twyla of something she liked. "Another time then." She went back up the steps, glad to have made a new friend.

Clea seemed to understand and she didn't seem upset that Twyla was going to end their conversation. The teen was relived and she let herself smile at the younger girl. "It was nice meeting you too, Clea. Have a good rest of your day. I'll see you around." Clea was at the top of the steps again and Twyla waved before turning around and walking across the grounds.
It had been a strange day so far, not unpleasant, but strange. Twyla still wasn't sure what to make of the girl who could turn into leaves. She was different than most people, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, was it? Meeting another of her peers had given her a lot to think about but soon Twyla's thoughts were drowned out by the narrow-minded focus that overtook her whenever she worked out.

ooc: No problem
Clea sighed and closed her eyes as she walked up the steps. She could hear the buzz of other students in the hall, but she was too happy to focus on what they were saying. She slipped on her sunglasses and continued upstars, smiling the whole way. Maybe life at the school wouldn't be as scary as she thought.
Placing a hand on her incomplete heart, she smiled and promised herself to do better.
