Lee wanted him to promise that he wasn’t going to get into any more funks, even when she told him things that upset him. Tarin frowned slightly in thought at that, he hadn’t necessarily reacted perfectly in the past when he’d realized the things that he’d done. At least for the time being, though, he was going to have to suck it up. A pity party definitely wasn’t worth being useless to Lee in their current situation.
“I promise. If you can be strong enough to talk about it, I can be more than strong enough to listen. “ More guilt, Lee’d seen him when he went into one of those moods that could last for weeks. That was another reason she’d always been so hesitant to say anything to him when situations arose. He’d have to work harder, he could work harder.
Lee didn’t seem as optimistic about the situation as Tarin did, and it was slightly disconcerting, but he continued to smile anyway. Tarin loved Lee, probably more than life itself. It was a phrase that people threw around a lot…but for Tarin it was probably true. Everybody needed somebody to talk to, and Tarin and Lee’s list was awful short. Another idea occurred to Tarin and he filed it away for later, deciding that this wasn’t the time to bring it up.
Lee finally spoke and Tarin nodded his head when she said that she’d try, really try. They’d had talks about this sort of thing before, and it hadn’t ever really come to fruition. Tarin had a feeling it would this time, though…because he was going to make sure it did.
