The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Tythan stared blankly at his notebook, doodling something or other that he couldn't even make out himself. He had finished his homework a long time ago and was now sitting in his writing spot, a chair by a window that offered a great view of the grounds. When he stepped onto the hallway, someone else had been sitting in the chair. He just about had kicked them out, but they moved before he even got to it. Sure it was a public sitting area, but still, it was his writing spot.
He looked at the page, somehow he had ended up drawing a pretty good sketch of the mansion. He'd keep that one, maybe he could start a collection of doodles originating from his subconcious. He shut the notebook. He'd already written two chapters in one sitting, he'd been writing for about two hours. Now he either had to force himself to write more, something he hated doing, or find something else to do. That was the thing, he never could find something to do on Saturdays. Sure there was plenty going on, but Tythan still hadn't quite adjusted, he just wasn't ready to fully integrate himself to this place. He was still testing it out.
Ok, that's it, i've been here a month, and what have i done? I travelled cross country for forever just to get here and now i'm backing out? i don't think so. It's time i take control...Starting with working on the whole merging thing whenever i lose my concentration.
That was it, he had a determination now, after that little peptalk, a determination to actually move in here, not just physically, but mentally too. He had to stop expecting the place to grow on him, and actually take charge. And so he slammed the book shut, accidentally caught his thumb in it, winced in pain, and found himself once again lost in his writing, literally, on the floor.
Yep, it's definitely time to work on that.
So with some effort, he extracted himself from the pages, picked up the notebook, and headed to his room. He quickly changed into a pair of sweats and a long-sleeved shirt, it was a bit chilly outside, and headed for his door to go out. He didn't really feel like tracking down an older resident to train in the danger room with and he still had a month until he turned 16. So he'd have to train outside.
:::::
Despite it being a chilly day, there were still quite a few people outside, so he headed to the area by the pool. No one was there on a day like this. Sure, he could have trained in the open, but he didn't know what to expect with the handle he had on his power. There probably wasn't much danger in it, there wasn't much he could do with his power that could hurt someone, but just in case.... And it was a little embarassing.
Tythan started with a little bit of a warmup, he stretched, then jogged around the mansion. Sure he wasn't going to be moving around much in his training, but accidents tended to happen. After that, he looked around, trying to decide where to start.
Might as well start at the bottom and work up, he thought, and focused on a blade of grass. It wasn't working, it never did work except on accident. But he kept trying, he screwed up his face, blotted out all of the other noise (one of his other talents), and concentrated...

It wasn't working. Why did it never work. He could accidently merge with something just fine, he could 'unmerge' with only the slightest difficulty, but why couild he never just control it? He closed his eyes and wiped his forehead, then continued to focus on the blade of grass his eyes still closed. After a moment or two, he figured it was pointless and opened his eyes. Except, he didn't seem to have eyes anymore, or hands for that matter, and he was blowing gently in the spring breeze. It had worked, and not only had it worked, it had worked at almost the exact instant that he closed his eyes. Maybe that was it, he had to close his eyes so that he was less attached to the visible world. He extracted himself from the blade of grass and tried again, focusing, then briefly closing his eyes. It worked again. He could hardly believe it. He had finally figured out how to do it. It wasn't exactly foolproof, and left plenty of opening, and was hardly instantaneous, but still it was a start.
He unmerged one more time, and this time focused on a tree. He closed his eyes, opened them, and nothing had happened. Apparently this method worked best with smaller things, but who cared, it worked! He then found himself jumping around like a maniac, he was so overtaken with the prospect of finally having the slightest bit of control over his merging. "I did it! I did it! Yeah! Wooh!...Now what?" He then realized that in his excitement he had accidently merged with his a stick that he had stepped on. He'd found what he needed to work on next.
