The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Meld continued to lead Wallflower closer to Sanctuary she sank into silence, letting her own thoughts drift as they would. She wasn't entirely sure what to say next, having explained everything that there was to really explain about the place she called home. There was a time, back when she didn't know she was a mutant, in which she had been adept at making casual conversation but she was out of practice now. Her contact with others tended to run along the lines of business or talking about business and she was fairly certain that this girl wouldn't appreciate hearing the details of the kind of business that Meld tended to associate with. She was fairly certain that it would just frighten her away, just when she was finally starting ot trust Meld and she really didnt want that to happen.
Meld saw a certain purity in the unfortunate mutant beside her, something of a salvation for her. As much as she had come to love the hunt and the battle, it was important for her to remember why she got into such things to begin with, and this girl was the manifested proof of why. If she had been asked Meld wouldn't have been able to put into words everything that she represented, but she knew in her heart that it was important and that she had to do right by her. Should she manage to screw this up she would lose an important part of her soul which she would never get the opportunity to win back. She smiled at Wallflower, unsure how much of her thoughts were visible in her expression.
So deep in her thoughts was she that Meld didn't notice as a man ran out in front of her and she collided with him. He appeared to come out of no where and one of her metal feet collided with the shin of his leg. His reaction to the gash sent him flying into the street where a car smashed into him. Meld gasped and stared for a moment, speechless. She might be a cold blooded killer but she didn't go after random civilians any more than then she killed other innocent animals. Then the stranger picked himself up off the ground, seemingly unharmed and obviously a mutant.
"I'm so sorry," Meld began to apologize profusely, thankful that he was ok but regretful that the incident had happened in the first place. She knew she would have to get her thoughts in order as it was dangerous to pay so little attention to what was going on around her and she really should know better. Then the human started to call the stranger a mutant freak and Meld turned and growled threateningly at him, removing the glove from her metal hand. "Exactly who are you calling a freak, human?" She stared at him, knowing the kind of effect her gaze tended to have on people.

Things had gotten quiet as Twyla followed Meld. It didn’t bother her though, Twyla wasn’t much for forced conversations anyway. Twyla wasn’t much of a conversationalist so even if she had been bursting to talk she wouldn’t have. In her group of friends back home she was the listener and she liked that role. It suited her just fine. This wasn’t very different from that, so Twyla wasn’t uncomfortable at all. Besides, the other woman seemed to be lost in her own thoughts and it would be rude to bother her. When Meld threw a smile her way Twyla knew that it wasn’t an uncomfortable silence at all. So she threw on back–a genuine smile that was easier to give than any of the tense or nervous smiles she had granted to most people lately. She seems like the good sort of person. Twyla decided. Nobody’s perfect, but she seems like she’s genuinely good on some level.
Twyla let her guard down a bit as she walked, trusting that Meld knew where she was going. She didn’t pay much attention to any of the passerby until one of them ran into Meld, then into a car, then into a store window. The man hitting Meld startled her and she almost screamed. What she did let out was a barely audible squeak before she went camouflaged. Always when you’re nervous...The owner of the car started to yell and the man that ran into Meld was apparently unharmed. Oh, mutant, duh...I HATE people who get like this. It’s just so intolerant. Twyla thought to herself as she started to pay attention to what the man was actually yelling.
"Exactly who are you calling a freak, human?" She heard Meld say. She doesn’t sound very happy...Back of mister, please. Just let us walk by in peace. Twyla realized that she was still in camo-mode and she focused on looking normal again. If worst comes to worst I could try to camouflage all of us. Well, if either of them will come with me. Meld looks like she could handle herself, so does the indestructible stranger. I can try to get myself out of this at leat. If worst comes to worst that is.
Dead rolled over onto his side feeling every bone in his body burn with the sensation of braking and bruising he stands up slowly even though he knows nothings broken he still gets up cautiously. "Look Dude I'm sorry, it was an accident." he limps over to the gentleman with the car. "Maybe I'll can help I know a nice place where i promise your car will get fixed, ill even.."
"Exactly who are you calling a freak, human?" the girl he ran into said. the driver turns on his heel to face her. "What you gonna do about it B.." it was the last thing he said before being put through the other window of the store by Dead, he did not come out of it unscathed or conscious.
"Mam you have the worst timing in the world, now if you'll..." Deads face shifts from annoyed to surprised to happy in four seconds flat. "Meld?... good to see you again, give me a second to pay this nice store owner and ill be right back" Dead limps into the store and drops a large sum of money onto the counter of the store he whispers something to the cashier, she goes from angry to stone cold fear, and then he leaves out the stand alone door. "Now where was I, oh yes its good to see you, who's your friend?" Deads face while pained has this look of kindness you'd swear you saw in your uncle at Christmas, he puts his hand out to WildFlower. "Oh and we should probably be going this place isn't going to be quite forever you know, and I know how much you like being famous Meld"

Twyla watched the happenings in confusion. It was all happening so fast. All of a sudden the yelling man was through the other window and then there was money on the counter inside. Twyla was rapidly switching between being camouflaged and normal looking. I have no idea what is going on. Twyla looked down and she could barely see her left hand. Focus. You look almost transparent. It’s probably better not to give the locals another reason to freak out again. Legs. Arms. Chest. Shoulders. Face. Bring it all back in.
She took a deep breath and she was totally normal again. The stranger said a few sentences to Meld. Oh, they know each other. Twyla realized. That’s what it seems like at least. “...who's your friend?" Oh, that’s me. The stranger turned to Twyla and she noted that he had a nice expression on his face, despite the traumatic moments he had just had. “I’m Wallflower.” Twyla stated, shaking the stranger’s hand. This time she didn’t hesitate, the new name was growing on her. “I agree. The cops’ll be coming soon.” She added. She could almost hear the sirens in the distance, someone had to have called the police by now, there was a bit of a crowd forming around the crushed car. Twyla had never been in a situation like this. Her entire time away from home she had avoided most confrontation and tried to hide her powers from humans in general. Avoidance was the best method to ward off conflicts like this one that being a mutant caused to get out of hand. Twyla was getting nervous, and her natural instincts told her to run. It was all she could do to keep herself looking normal and to keep her feet from dragging her away.

Meld growled threateningly at Dead, removing the glove from her metal hand. "It is not good to see you, or have you forgotten that you tried to kill me?" It was just her luck that she would meet the one real enemy that she had in this city, especially when she was here trying to do a good deed to help another. If they had been in a less public place and there was less of a risk of cops showing up, she likely would have attacked the bastard right then and there, but her better judgment persevered and all she did was growl and glare.
"I do not want to be famous," she added venomously. "But you're right, the cops will be showing up soon and I, for one, do not want to be here when they do." One person had all ready recognized her from the news cast by her mutations, she didn't need another doing so as well, especially not a cop. Meld turned her back and stalked off in the direction of Sanctuary, not caring whether Dead followed and in fact hoping he did not. So angry did her former assailant make her, she had all but forgotten about Wallflower. Perhaps once they were out of the public eye the two of them could resume their battle and figure out once and for all who deserved to live and who deserved to die. And once Dead was, well, dead, maybe she would be able to go back to Canada and deal with whatever other loose ends she might have to tie up from her past.
"WallFlower, hum makes sense, come on chin up, and stop changing, it doesn't flatter you at all." Dead smiles more his face never wavering. "Oh come now Meld put those toys away, you know it doesn't work effectively. now don't be that way, it was only an attempt and if you remember i almost did... anyways."
Dead wraps his arms around both girls necks getting between them and leading them in any direction away from the accident he whispers into Melds ear. "They think you've left your not in New york anymore and there running for the hills now stop being like, that i saved you in more ways then one now be nice or i can just lead every single killer and enemy after you right to you."
Dead looks at Wallflower in a classic anime friendly look all smiles and close to shut eyes. "Hi my Names Dead, Dead End. the names a very long story but anyways." dead moves his head looking at both of them and starts looking ahead where were you two lolly girls going anyways?"

The stranger’s comments about her name and powers made Twyla realize that she was changing again without noticing it. Focus. She reminded herself. His next comments to Meld and Meld’s reacting to him threw Twyla off and she got confused again. Just when things made more sense, they throw a curve ball at you. She watched them talk to each other in a mixture of confusion and fascination.
Oh. They don’t like each other. Oops. Twyla watched Meld stalk off and she stood there watching her a moment before she realized that she had left Twyla behind. She ran to catch up with her but stayed a few steps behind in case she didn’t want the younger girl following her. The stranger caught up with them and put his arms around Twyla and Meld’s necks. Twyla was startled and she almost bolted right then and there. This entire situation was starting to make her really nervous. She wasn’t sure what Dead, well, Dead End, whispered to Meld, but she caught a few words and none of them sounded very nice.
Twyla suddenly jerked out from under Dead’s grip. She’d lost her nerve. She had no idea what was going on anymore and her semi-anal planning tendencies did not like all the unknowns in this situation. She stumbled behind Dead and Meld and just stood there for a minute, trying to gain her bearings. I should have been paying attention when Meld and I were walking. Now I’m lost. She turned back towards Meld and Dead and bit her lip. But the Sanctuary. I have no idea how to get there...

Meld growled again as Dead put his arm around her neck, barely restraining herself from attempting to sever his hand from his arm. Now was not the place and she still had Wallflower to think about. Not only did she not need the attention of the cops, but she didn't want to scare the girl more than she obviously all ready had.
"You may think that you saved me," Meld spoke low and threatening, her words mean for Dead's ears alone, "but I can take care of myself. Now, if you don't remove your hand from around my neck I promise you that cops or no cops, Wallflower being around or not, I will find a way to get through your irritating invincibility and your blood will run like rivers down the street." Meld smiled in sinister fashion.
Stepping away from Dead, Meld tried to smile at Wallflower reassuringly. "I do apologize for my actions. I was not expecting to encounter my...friend here and I seem to have forgotten myself. I hope you can forgive me." Sirens began to be audible in the distance.
"hey girly, don't be nervous Meld and i have been playing this little game joke for awhile come on now no hard feelings." Dead smiles, the look of total innocents and surine kindness still there. He looks over at Meld and states quietly in a way Wallflower cant hear. "I'm sure you can... real sure, now lets get this leaf somewhere safe." Turning back to Wallflower. "Yes we REALLY need to get going, sadly i really font know anywhere to go, Meld do you have somewhere i could go, you know how easy i am to find in a crowed. look at me i look like a gutter punk, they'll find me faster then the trash on 6th street." god please take me somewhere any where but here. a nice place with mutant would be good, i could really use a healer after that park incident

Look, it seems like their feud is with each other. If it spills over and brings in you there’s always the obvious option of running. I highly doubt you’d be followed. Whatever happened to being almost brave and jumping? You NEED this help. Just because you’re uncomfortable does not mean that you’ll wake up any safer tomorrow out here. So suck it up and roll with the punches. Things’ll be fine. Twyla weighed her options silently. She looked up at Meld and finally replied “Uh, it’s alright. I forget myself sometimes too.” Twyla thought back to her running episode earlier; it was a prime example of Twyla losing herself.
“Maybe we should just go. Those sirens are getting pretty close.” And they were, Twyla could almost tell how many cop cars were coming to the scene. She picked up her chuck covered feet and dropped them restlessly and looked around nervously. The street had cleared in their immediate area, she assumed because of the human with the injuries and the crushed car. Her face had started to get red as she realized that she looked like a coward again. Skittish as a deer. I really need to work on that.

Meld couldn't believe the way her rival was acting, as if there no hostilities and no history between them, as if he hadn't just tried to kill her only days before. And then to suggest that she bring him, HIM, to a place of safety was almost unthinkable. She didn't want anything to do with the man and she definitely didn't want him anywhere near where she lived, which led to a slight dilemma in that she needed to return to Sanctuary in order to avoid the cops and she still intended that Wallflower should find safety there as well. However, she knew that she had friends in Sanctuary, friends that were even more bloodthirsty and experienced at killing than she was and if Dead should do anything regrettable he wouldn't last long at all. Suddenly the idea of bringing him to Sanctuary didn't seem so bad after all.
"Both of you come along," Meld said with a smile, mostly directed at Wallflower. "Sanctuary isn't far from here and you'll both be safe within those walls. As long as," this she directed at Dead, "you remain properly civil within its walls. I doubt you'd be welcome for long if you began attempting to murder its residents." She wasn't sure how obvious her thoughts were upon her expression, making no attempt to hide them as she normally would. She would definitely take more than a little pleasure in intimidating her enemy, if it were possible to do so.

Twyla nodded and gave a small smile back to Meld. Wow. I am really glad I’m not on her bad side. She thought, thankful that she had met Meld in good circumstances and not in ones like Dead’s. Now she was a little more nervous about going to Sanctuary-- Twyla was pretty sure that Meld could have said a lot more to threaten Dead if she had chosen to. Despite any lingering doubts Twyla adjusted her hold on her green duffel and dutifully followed the older girl. And this time she paid close attention to the street signs they passed.
And the first thing I’m going to do when I get there is sleep. Wait...maybe not. Twyla looked down and took in all the dirt on her legs and the stains in her khaki shorts and her face flushed. Maybe a shower first and then a laundry room, then sleep. But what about food? Twyla pondered this for a moment before deciding: Get presentable first, then food. All this assuming of course that I actually make it there and they let me in. Meld said it’d be fine. Shower first.
Twyla was trying to hide the excitement that this haven instilled in her. In her months of travel she had rarely taken real showers and was reduced to trying to get as clean as possible in public bathrooms she also had hardly ever found good places to sleep. Trains were the best option, she had found that out early on. Most people wouldn’t bother you if you were on a train and the seats were usually decent enough to sleep in. The problem with trains was that Twyla’s open-ended ticket had only lastedfor a month. So most of her time spent away from home she had slept in parks and mutant crash pads as well as other random places. Only once had she stayed in a homeless shelter, that night she had scared a child by matching the bedclothes as she slept and she ended up leaving in the middle of the night because that child’s parents and other adults didn’t want a mutant near where they and their children slept. So Twyla was getting more and more excited as they walked that this place was in no way going to discriminate against her because of her genes.
Dead kept his eyes open and his mouth shut, he wasn't happy about Meld being so sore over the events in the past, it was a job there was nothing personal about it, and he'd grown to except meld while her ideas made him snicker and laugh, the idea that someone was higher then another because they where born that way was redickulac "... its a mans actions that made them better" He thought his belief was that no one is supiriur just different shades of black and white, good and evil was what drove the world not in the mythical sense but just the way people acted. he kept quite as the walks his emotions in check not serious but not as happy as earlier. Melds smile troubled him and he realized the Wallflower girl was looking nervous and exited happy to be going to a safe place. Dead thought he know of the place Meld had spoken of, he'd never actually been there or seen the people but left or right they were as much a political group as any other. Dead walked up to meld and spoke quitly to her. "I know you probably hate me, but i just wanted you to know none of it was personal, it was all a job i didn't know you, you cant hate me for doing a job just like you used to."

Meld continued walking towards Sanctuary, keeping her demeanor casual and blatantly ignoring Dead. Just because she didn't see any way out of leading him to Sanctuary didn't mean that she had to acknowledge his existence in any other manner. By now the sirens had made it to their position and cops were milling about. She did her best to not attract attention to herself, somewhat difficult given her metal limbs and the fact that Dead himself wasn't exactly inconspicuous, even if he wasn't obviously a mutant.
Suddenly from behind them Meld heard, "Stop and put your hands where we can see them. This is the police." Crap. She wasn't exactly sure what had clued them into the fact that they were the ones responsible for the carnage, or at least one of them was, but she suspected it was either one of the individuals who's property had been damaged, or some anti-mutant onlooker. She growled, angry at the prospect of discriminating humans and even angrier at the thought that the actions of her enemy had caused so many problems.
Meld spent a moment considering her options. She could either turn and fight, in which case one or more of them could be injured and she was especially concerned about Wallflower. She could run, something she had done before though preferred not to and they still had guns which might make escape potentially dangerous. Or she could push Dead into the cops in order to occupy them while she and Wallflower made there mistaking, solving more than one problem. Not only would it make their escape easier but it would also most likely cause her enemy pain, which was a very pleasant thought indeed. The only unfortunate thing was that he would probably survive it.
Her decision made, Meld turned on Dead suddenly and attempted to shove him into the cops behind them. Almost simultaneously she grabbed a hold of Wallflower's arm and began running into a nearby alley, hoping that she would allow herself to be led.
Dead felt eyes on his back. "Stop put your hands where we can see em" said another voice. they couldn't tell Meld was a mutant at this angle. Dead could tell Meld wasn't liking this, knowing he was the closest thing to her, and that she didnt like him he knew what was coming.
He felt the push and he started falling backwards. he looked behind him and was releaved to see it was only two officers, he turned his fall into a backwards roll and then a launch that landed a foot on each officers knee, using his momentum he knocked them to the ground, then landing on his stomach in between them he takes there heads in each hand and slams them into the ground, knocking them out, today was not a day to kill, and for all he knew they were good cops no reason to do anything right now. he jumps up and fallows meld as she starts to moves down the ally.
"Meld that was great thinking way to go i mean you knew i could handle it, and you helped me out great job." Dead had a large smile on his face, he still hurt like heck but he knew this girl needed a place her cloths showed it to well. "By the way there both alive, they'll have a hell of a head ach, but im sure Tylenol can fix that." Today is a great day so far
