The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Iara finished checking her bike and slipped outdoors into the cold weather. It was snowing, she had never seen snow before. She extended her hands and begin to twirl. A few flakes landed on her face like icy tear drops. She forgot the low temperature as she danced a little in the white. "La reina de nieve!" She twirled a little more, oblivious. She closed her eyes and pretended it was warm, that she was once again in Rio and it was Carnivale. The snow was her confetti. The trees were her floats.
Raphael followed Raina through the back door. He did not question why they went out back rather than out front, both those entrances were well away from the gardens. After a few steps outside he took the lead, striding towards the fountain on the backyard patio. He took a seat there, looking at her. “Okay, to my right are the gardens, a pleasant maze of hedges and flowers,” just because he did not want to go there did not mean he would not tell her about it, and he was careful to keep such a notion from echoing in his voice or reflecting in his face. “Off to my left are the basketball courts, tennis courts, and aquatic facilities… there’s least two of each, short of the pool. Behind me, as you can likely see, is a lake, with a nice forest beyond that. Where to first?

ooc; Sorry it's taken me so long! Busy day!
Ic: Raina looked around with wide eyes marvelling. "This place is so huge! And so beautiful..." she wiped her brow as the sun beat down on them "ahh and so warm. I'm used to freezing weather." she laughed.
She was looking more relaxed then ever, happier, and more at home. "What's that lake like? Got any boats? I'm an expert at Kiyaking. I had one up untill recently. Thats how I got around." She waited eagerly for his reply, evidently excited.
Raphael shrugged. He was not much of a swimmer before his ‘modification’ and was even less so afterwards. “Not entirely sure, to be honest,” he picked himself up from the edge of the fountain and looked towards the lake. “Water is not entirely my element, we can find out however.”
He led the way from the patio down towards the lake. “Would I be incorrect in thinking that you would like to take a boat out on it if there is one? Possibly you could demonstrate your skill in a boat then?”

"I'd just like to have some fun..." admitted Raina. "But I suppose with this much water around my power would be stronger... we could always try it out if you're brave enough." she teased heading down toward a small dock.
Sure enough upon arrival Raina spotted a small canoe turned upside down with a few life jackets and fishing rods underneath. "We've hit the mother load!" she joked. She started to pry at the heavy canoe and it started to give a few inches. After a few unsucsessful attempts she turned and said; "All right Mr. Tall Dark and incredibly strong... Help a girl out?"
Raphael shrugged some at her tease. He looked at the lake, and made a guessed he could get to shore by walking along the bottom at a rapid pace. He paused for a moment in his long strides to let her get in front of him as they neared the dock. He followed her out onto the wood, his footfalls sounding a lot heavier than he looked as they made their way towards a canoe coincidentally left deposited on the dock.
He cracked a small smile as she addressed him with a variant cliché, and bent to lift more than his half of the canoe and turn it over before depositing it into the water with her. He picked up one of the two life-vests and held it out to her to take while leaving the other where it laid on the dock. “You can have both if you like, it won’t do me much good.”

Raina remembered the metal. "No I suppose not." she blushed a little embaressed. "Well OK, let's do this! I'll show you my fishing skills too." she said tossing one of the shabbier looking rods into the boat. "Shove off maties!" she called sliding the canoe into the water and getting in.
She paddled them out in the center- despite her small frame and lack of strength- she did this with skill and percision. Once in the middle she came to a stop and threw her arms behind her head with a smile and a happy sigh. "ahh there we go. I guarantee you this is the most relaxing place on the world once you get used to it." the boat rocked a little unsteadily but Raina seemed unphased. She tossed the bare hook into the water and let the line sink down while holding onto the pole. She didn't expect to catch anything, but the act of fishing reminded her of home and made her feel better. "What kind of things do you like?" she asked making conversation
Deathstar layed outside in the lush green grass, exhausted from the teachings of the proffessor she decided totake a nap quietly by the lake, away from the noise of teenagers inside the mansion. The lake mirror the gleam from sun, making it a very peaceful place from the choas of reality. "Ahhh!!...finally!, some time to myself", she said softly while slowly falling asleep with her knees bent and her arms above her head she relaxed as she looked up to the sky.
Deathstar eyes open quickly as what she heard seemed to be someone having a conversation, she tried to ignore but for some reason the quiet talk really disturbed her peacful moment. She raised up to her elbows to look around to see who was, she turned to her left across to see Raph with a new girl. Jumping to conclusions she thought he was cheating on his girlfriend Fade, So she sat quietly as she observed the two interact with one another
Raphael shrugged some. “Sure, we can do that.” He then climbed into the canoe. He took up the second paddle and provided the ‘umph’ that let them get going quickly towards the center of the lake, while she expertly navigated the boat. He knew just enough about paddling to keep from making it hard for her to keep them going straight and not in a circle.
As they coasted to a stop in the middle of the lake and watched her sigh in contentment. “I prefer a tree to be honest with you, my element isn’t water, though it is obvious you are quite at home here…” he reached to either side of the canoe as it rocked, more to steady himself than out of fear though. Soon as the canoe settled he let go and reclined slightly, he might feel slightly better if he knew he would not sink like a stone. The shore seemed a might bit further away now that they actually were in the center of the lake. “What do I like to do?”
Raphael had to think on that for awhile. “I like climbing… acrobatics, even if I don’t look it… I practice several martial arts, including a custom one that I developed myself. I’m more at home in a tree, or in a confined area than I am here on the lake… I’m not sure what you might call my ‘element’ though.”
"I knew he wasn't all that I thought him to be", Deathstar said in disappointment as she observed the two. She didn't know what was going on, but from the looks of things it looked liked he was trying to put his charm on her. As she pushed herself to her knees she felt a nice sized stoned embedded in the soiled ground next to her, she grabs and slighty started tossing it in her hands and got a sadistic idea in her head.
She rose to her feet and tossed the stone toward their canoe. "I'm sorry!, my aim was a little off", she said as the stone thrashed into the side of the canoe, interrupting their conversation causing aattention to herself. She meant the throw the stone, not thinking clearly she assumed the worse. She wanted to make sure Raph saw what she was doing, in Deathstar's eyes she was seeing adultery

Raina nodded as he listed his interests. "When I was your age..." she said with a crack and a goofy old person voice "I was quite the young whiper-snapper with the martial arts as well." She laughed. "But I stopped because it was interfearing with my chanting. I'm not very strong..." she admitted. "But I am fast. I am hoping to get some basic training here beca-" it was then that the rock came hurtling and Raina lost her train of thought. She heard a femanine voice speak up and she sat up straight very quickly rocking the boat as she did so.
She coudln't quite make anyone out from the glare of the sun off the water so she stood up rocking the boat even more. She put a foot on the edge to steady it and a hand across her eyes to sheild the sun. "Looks like someone's out there yelling to us... anyone you know?" she asked hoping to avoid confrontation. She was just getting used to Raph after Fiona, Tricity, Iris and Raptor. It took a lot for her when she met knew people despite her outgoing appearance she really did always become quite scared and nervous.
"Why are they throwing rocks?" she asked a little more scared then she had intented. Raina remembered having rocks thrown at her once before when a child heard her chanting and got his parents. They wern't too fond of mutants....
OOC: yay this should be exciting! I'll try to post more often in the day, during the week it's just been hard for me because i'm teaching and not really feeling well ^^; glad to have you join in deathstar! This could be VERY interesting
Deathstar smirked as the new girl responded to her, "Sorry I didn't mean to intrude on your little date!" she yelled out to them as they tried to get the Canoe stable while in the middle of the lake. "Oops!, I think I put a tiny crack on you love boat!" she says as she laughed silently hoping she will get revenge for her new found friend Jenny. "Hope you know how to swim!", Deathstar sat down on the edge of the lake as she watched the two panic now knowing there is a hole in their canoe. Even though she didn't know this new girl she was giving her a hard time because of her suspicions of Raph.
Raphael gripped the side as the rock went whizzing past and Raina stood up. He recognized the voice, and uttered a soft curse. Deathstar had greeted him with another friend with hostility. He wondered what her problem was when it clicked. She probably thought he was out here to start a relationship with Raina and therefore cheat on Jenny.
He winced as a second stone struck the canoe. Deathstar’s words prompted him to stand and address her. “We’re not on a date Layla. She’s new to the mansion and I was showing her around, not cheating on Jenny. You of all people should know I’d not do that.”
When he felt water at his feet, he glanced over at Raina, and addressed her in conversational tones. “Row to shore, I’m weighing this thing down too much, and would rather not see a bit of the mansion’s property destroyed, and this hole can be fixed.”
Before she could respond, he catapulted himself over the edge and into the lake. A little more graceful than one might expect from a man with a metal skeleton. He caused a suitable splash and sank straight to the bottom of the lake. He immediately began plodding his way towards shore, though it would be a few moments before he got there.

Raina's eyes went wide as he leapt over board and felt incredibly confused by what was going on. "Maybe he's her boyfriend?" she thought to herself sitting back down and steadying the boat. She could indeed see that there was a small leak. it was just big enough to be quickly filling the boat with water. She contemplated how much time she would have to row the boat back to shore... she was frusturatred at having her only true moment of familuarity squandered.
"Well... I better seal the hole." she said outloud to no one in particular sounding much more confident then she felt. She closed her eyes and blocked out all the destrations and tried not to worry about raph down below. A small humming came from her throat then buterrflied into a stronger and reassured note. The note was long and shrill... but just as haunting as before. THis time it fluxuated going higher and lower as Raina began her melodic trance.
She placed her hands on the bottom of the boat, there was just enough water coming in to cover them. She sang to the water, coaxed it, pleaded with it, and finally willed it... and it began to freeze, It started out subtle at first with a spark of frost dancing across the small pool of water... and soon the entire space of water was frozen and the boat was no longer sinking.
She knew she didn't have much time to row back to shore. She didn't feel in any danger but she knew the ice wouldn't hold with the friction of the boat against the water and even though the ice call was small... it drained her and she felt exhausted. She sat herself up straight and it was then that she realized too late that she had sung the ice up over her own hands- that were now encased in the block of ice that kept the boat from filling with water.
She gave a frusturated growl knowing that once she'd broken free she'd have to sing the chant all over again and use of the rest of her energy doing so, but in giving her hands a yank without so much as a budge from the ice- the boat tipped... and capcised with Raina caught underneath.
It took Raina a moent to understand where she was. Her hands were above her head and her shoulders were in great pain from the turn. Her hands were still frozen to the bottom of the boat and her head was bobbing ever so slightly in the small air pocket created. She tried to stay calm though her breathing increased rapitdly.
She tried to sing a chant to unlock the ice- but as she had told Raph earlier- she wasn't sure how to melt it- and the singing only made the layer of ice thicker. Her hands began to shoot pain and hurt from the cold. She started breathing a little quicker kicking her feet to give her arm muscles a break. She tried breathing on the ice to make it melt but it wasn't working fast enough. She began to panic.
Raina wasn't one to panic so easily- but the day had been so stressful and unusual for her that she had met her limit. Tears brimmed on her eyelids and threatened to spill down her cheeks as she continued breathing on the ice frantically trying to melt it feeling exhausted from the day, the chants, and the fall.
Deathstar sat quiet with a smile on her face as Raph shouted out to her, she couldn't really make out what they were saying, but from the looks of there actions something was wrong. Deathstar stood up again slowly, putting her hand on top of forehead to stop the glare of the sun, she seen Raph dive off the boat leaving the new one all alone. She looked uneased from Deathstar's view, the new girl seemed to be in control but boat capcised sending her into the water. Deathstar knew then what she did was a huge mistake.
At the edge of the lake was a new water-vehicle the proffessor lates project , it haven't really been tested for the field yet, but Deathstar knew it was time for a field test. She sprinted along the shore of the lake, leaped on the Jet-ski and instantly turning on the ignition. hitting the gas hurling toward the two, trying to save the new one and Raph. She hit the brakes near the boat, searching around the location, not seeing any sign of the girl or Raph , she reached her hand in the water hoping someone could still be concious enough to grab a hold of it.
