The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Meld laughed. Predator didn't quite get the joke, but then again he wasn't exactly all that good at getting humor. Most of the time it flew right over his head, unless it was a nice blunt joke. In this case, he had no clue what Meld was laughing about, but he smiled politely all the same.
"But what does it accomplish, chaos for the sake of chaos or death for the sake of death? Each have their place, I admit, but is it not better to indulge in such things at a time and place when they might do some good? Surely we are better than that." Meld thought for a moment before continuing. "I am hardly some sort of saint. For years I hired my services to any crime boss who needed a mutant with no qualms about the law or the welfare of my targets. But there was always a reason behind it. Then it was mostly money, now it is the betterment of our people. Not that I am opposed to disregarding the law for money either."
Now it was Predator's turn to laugh. Not only was the content of her words funny to him, but the serious way she said them just cracked him up for a reason he couldn't adequately explain. After a few minutes he managed to get himself under control and said "Chaos for chaos's sake and death for death's sake are pointless. Although I do rather enjoy the pandemonium of chaos, really, If this world was the way it should be there would be no need for such things. It is not chaos or death for their own sake, but to show the rats that we will not be silenced, and will not rest until we have achieved the supremacy that is our right!"

Meld gave Predator a bit of a strange look when he started laughing, wondering if he was all there mentally. But perhaps that was to be expected given the fact that he had blood dripping from his hand and had most certainly wounded if not killed someone and showed no remorse about it at all. Not that she really expected remorse, the victim was only human, after all.
"Chaos for chaos's sake and death for death's sake are pointless. It is not chaos or death for their own sake, but to show the rats that we will not be silenced, and will not rest until we have achieved the supremacy that is our right!"
Meld nodded her head in agreement. "I could not agree more. But its more than simply showing them that we will not be silenced, its choosing targets to best further our supremacy. Killing one of these wretches," Meld kicked the barely living form at her feet, "does nothing to further the cause of our kind. It doesn't even prove a challenge to kill one of these since they can't fight back. So much the better to exterminate one who works to exterminate us. How much more of a message do we send if we kill a vocal anti mutant, especially one with authority and weapons?" She couldn't help that her anti-police views snuck out in her words.

Well, thought Predator, Looks like someone's got authority issues.
He thought for a second considering Meld's words. Finally, he said "Well sure, that makes sense. However, it might be difficult for a person to gain access to said hypothetical authority figure. Unless..." Predator let his words trail off with a suggestive smile.

Meld grinned at the prospect and then her smile faded. Damn, she was really starting to regret the promise she had made. Did it have to be so difficult to prove herself to the higher ups in The Order? If they would just give her something productive to do, anything productive to do, then maybe her promise wouldn't be so very difficult to keep. She sighed.
"I know what you're thinking, I really do. And the idea has more than a little appeal. But I can't simply go back on my word to follow a whim. Unless you know of a target that would both further the cause and not get us noticed?" She couldn't help the note of hopefulness in her tone.

Predator noticed that she sounded hopefull, and said, "I understand. Loyalty to friends is paramount, yes? Fortunately for you, and for me, probably, this works out great. My... skills... are not particularly oriented towards assassinations and the like, but it seems to me that you might be better at getting in and out quickly. The target, a SWAT officer who has been very vocal lately, is giving a press conference a few blocks over. The cameras ensure that our message will be seen by a live, captured audience, and the pandemonium I plan to cause will serve to hide your identity. You in?"
Predator hoped that Meld would accept his offer. Not only were the things he told her true, he hoped to gain some way of contacting her a little later that night. He had little success in procuring contact means with many other mutants, but he knew that having a web of friendly mutants across the city could be very useful. He hoped that allowing Meld to excersise her frustrations in a way that ensured that she would not be faulted would bridge the gap between them, at least enough for an email, or something.

Now that was just the sort of mission that Meld could excel at. Not only would it allow her to get out some much needed aggression, but it would send a message to humans everywhere that mutants were willing to fight for their freedoms and go as far as it took to ensure the rights of their people. Not only that, but there would be the added benefit of sufficient chaos such that it hopefully wouldn't be led to Meld directly. And all of it captured on live camera. It was, truth be told, a beautiful little plan and one she was not very much looking forward to.
"Predator," she began, "I believe that I am truly coming to like you." Meld grinned and went searching through her backpack for a pen and paper. After writing down her cell number she handed it over to her companion. "I like the way you think and you bet your ass I'm in. It will be a message for humans everywhere that we are to be feared and that we will fight until our inevitable victory. All I need to know is when and where." She paused a moment. "And perhaps I may need a mask to hide my face from tv cameras. Hopefully the chaos will hide my other distinctive features but I'd rather not have my face plastered on the news all over the city." Things definately seemed to be looking up.

After handing Predator her phone number, Meld said, "I like the way you think and you bet your ass I'm in. It will be a message for humans everywhere that we are to be feared and that we will fight until our inevitable victory. All I need to know is when and where." She paused a moment. "And perhaps I may need a mask to hide my face from tv cameras. Hopefully the chaos will hide my other distinctive features but I'd rather not have my face plastered on the news all over the city."
"Well," Predator said looking around, "the press conference is probably about halfway through by now. It was were I was heading before I got... Delayed." Spotting what he was looking for, Predator retrieves a ski mask he had put under the dumpster to hide his own features before he transformed. The cops had been getting closer and closer to finding out where he was staying, so he had begun to take precautions. He gives the mask to Meld saying "There, that should do it. Follow me." So saying Predator walked out of the end of the alley, going along the sidewalk for a few minutes until he saw the newslights and the podium in the distance.
The SWAT officer was outside of a recently robbed bank, talking about how it was most likely done by mutants and generally spouting anti-mutant sentiments all prettied up with political garbage. Predator ducked into a side alley. When Meld joined him, he began to take off his orange robes. He was running low on clothes, and didn't feel like tearing out of the few pairs he still had. When he finished, he folded the robes and put them on a nearby fire escape. He then said, "Stand back." to Meld, and began to change.
This time, the first thing to go was his face, morphing faster than the rest of him into that of a foo dog. The rest of his body slowly caught up, growing golden-bronze hair and increasing in size, musculature and skeletal structures reconfiguring to meet Predator's new form. After about thirty seconds, a full 12-foot tall foo dog stood where Predator had just been. He nodded at Meld, then loped out of the alley. Almost immediately he was noticed, a scream going up as he roared loudly, stomping his foot into a car for good measure.

Meld listened attentively as Predator explained the details of the situation. It seemed to be a strange time for a press conference to be held, but perhaps the humans had their reasons for doing so. Putting on the offered ski mask Meld followed her new companion to the site of the conference. The presence of so many cops made her slightly nervous, a product of years of criminal behavior and her involvement with organized crime, but she had faith that Predator could handle himself and she knew that she could handle herself. Besides, nothing could be accomplished without a little risk.
Meld didn't watch Predator too carefully as he rid himself of his clothing, instead concentrating on the words of the SWAT officer. She growled as he began spouting off about "dangerous mutants" and "the mutant problem". She would show him exactly how dangerous mutants were and exactly how they dealt with problems like him. He would come to regret his words dearly.
Meld watched fascinated as her companion changed from a relatively normal looking man to some sort of huge dog-like creature. She wasn't exactly sure what it was but it looked dangerous and she knew this was her cue to enact her part of the plan. Meld made her way quickly through the panicking crowed, anyone away that got in her path, making her way towards the SWAT Officer. Knowing that the cameras were likely to pan towards the rather large and obvious rampaging dog-creature she intercepted one along the way, grabbing him by the back of the neck. "You are going to record my every action. If you don't I'll make sure you suffer the same fate." The cameraman nodded vigorously and Meld let go of him, content that he would follow.
It took Meld only moments to get to the SWAT officer, who was yelling instructions into a walkie talkie. As suspected, his concentration was squarely on the rampaging mutant and he didn't even see him coming. Meld tore open his neck with her metal hand watching as blood began spurting out. She then turned towards the camera and began speaking. "This is what happens to human skum who do not respect mutants. This is what will continue to happen so long as human discrimination and bigotry continues. You have been warned. Continue your dispicable actions and pay the price for your ignorance."

Predator stamped a few newstrucks, crushing the equipment inside. He then slashed at a nearby cop, who had started to break out of the panic-induced stupor and draw his pistol. The cop's stomach promptly turned inside-out and he went flying, eventually crashing into a reporter, who fainted. Next he stomped on a person, breaking his spine, and tossed a woman through the air by the scruff of her neck. He then began to feel pinpricks of pain all along his rear, and as he turned around he saw a cop, pistol drawn, firing rounds at Predator. Predator ran at the man, who bravely but stupidly held his ground. When he reached him, Predator bowed down and chomped, severing the man's spine as he cut him clear in half. He chewed the cop up a bit, for effect, then spat him out on top of another cop nearby. That cop conked out. Predator continued his merry destructive way through the crowds, killing and maiming, and killing, indiscriminately.
I hope Meld managed to get some coverage, Predator thought, I might be hogging the spotlight a bit. As he looked over to the podium, Predator saw a terrified cameraman pointing his camera at Meld, who was talking, the dead officer at her feet.

Meld stepped off the pedestal and turned her head to see the carnage and chaos that Predator was causing. "Time to go," she shouted. They had came and accomplished what they had set out to accomplish and now it was time to flee the scene, preferably before they could call in any more cops than were all ready on the scene. She wondered for a moment exactly how they were going to be able to hide a giant dog-creature effectively enough to escape and Meld herself wasn't exactly the paragon of stealth either. It would probably a simple matter for her to escape on her own in the present chaos but she was not about to abandon her new found ally.
Meld gave it a thought and figured their best bet was probably to flee to the alleys where they might be able to lose the mob of cops. "Follow me," Meld yelled, attempting to move in that direction. She impaled a cop who was standing there cowering as he stared at the giant dog-creature and began running towards the alley, hoping her murderous companion would follow.

Just as Predator was really getting into the thick of the fighting, a voice floated across the sounds of battle and hysteria.
"Time to go." It was Meld.
Sighing slightly, Predator turned away from the inviting carnage in front of him and faced Meld.
"Follow me." She said.
Obliging, Predator followed Meld into the alley where he had put his clothes. Pausing long enough to morph back to human, and ignoring the bullets that were pushed out of his body by the proccess, he pulled on his clothes after examining the pinpricks they caused. Nothing serious. He decided. He then followed Meld into the web of alleys, understanding that she wanted to hopefully lose any pursuit.

Meld was relieved that Predator had the presence of mind to shift back into his human form. They would be much more difficult to track this way. She removed the mask from her face and threw it onto the ground, ducking as a bullet whizzed passed her head. She then resumed running, looking for a fire escape ladder that she might be able to grab onto and climb to the roof. Hampered as she was by her one human hand, she couldn't climb far without one, but she should be able to climb high enough to reach such a ladder and it was how she had escaped the cops the last time they had pursued her. Of course, last time she hadn't been responsible for a very public murder...
Spotting one Meld pointed it out to her companion. The sounds of pursuit were a little bit fainter but she knew that it wouldn't take them long to reach them. "Can you make it up there? Hopefully the cops won't think to look to the rooftops."

Predator followed Meld as the dashed through alleys, several bullets whizzing by their heads from the pursuing cops. After a couple of minutes of the chase, Predator noticed that Meld seemed to be looking for something. His guess was confirmed a moment later, as she stopped under a fire escape.
"Can you make it up there? Hopefully the cops won't think to look to the rooftops."
"Yeah," Predator replied, "though it might be better if we take different routes, just to make it a bit harder for them to find us even if they do." So saying, Predator jumped up and grabbed on to the bottom rung of the ladder Meld had pointed out. He then began climbing as fast as he could, soon reaching the top. Looking down at Meld, Predator then began a dash across the rooftops of New York, leaping over alleys and clambering up the occasional wall.

Meld nodded in agreement. "You have my number. Call me if you ever want to do this again." That said, Meld too, jumped and climbed up the ladder, taking off in the opposite direction of Predator. The first few rooftops were close together, allowing Meld to jump from one to the other. The 4th was too far for her to jump and she climbed back to the ground, taking off on foot. She could still hear the distant sounds of pursuit but if she was fortunate they wouldn't be looking in her direction. Eventually Meld came to the subway and payed, beginning her trek back to Sanctuary.
