Lori seemed quite content to just hang out at his doorframe and Jacen didn't bother to press her to do anything else. Giving her a somewhat half-hearted smile he turned and headed for the bathroom to get his first aid kit. Just as he was about to enter the smaller room, Lori spoke again, but this time her words cut into him like a knife.

Turning around part way, he looked at Lori with obvious surprised mixed with embaressment and just a touch of pain shining in his eyes. For a moment he felt the urge to rush over to her and just wrap her in his arms but he held back, somehow knowing all that would do is scare her off.

"I guess I deserve that... considering the fact I just punched a hole in my wall." Jacen said quietly, momentarily looking away from Lori to examine the damage to his room before turning back to her, "I'm not a drunk Lori and there's a big different between being drunk and being a drunk. You've been around me long enough to know that I normally limit my alcohol to either one or two drinks."

Turning away, Jacen stepped into the bathroom, returning second later with the small first aid kit. Walking over to the bed, he set the kit down and opened it up. "I was in a bad mood before I started drinking tonight and I made the stupid decision to try and use alcohol to temporarily forget my problems." Jacen said quietly as he looked over the contesnts of his kit. It had been a really stupid decision that he was beginning to regret more and more with each passing moment.

"I won't pretend it was anything close to a smart decision but I do have to admit that it was my decision. I chose to do this tonight, I just didn't expect anyone else to be around." He continued quietly as he glanced back up at the blond before stating simply, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for apparently bringing up bad memories for you."

She watched him carefully and the cringe... well, that was almost answer enough right there. No outright denial or shouting or anything. She nodded once confirming in her mind her suspicions which were, for once, good. She didn't believe that of him, but then again she'd dated a lot of men who had seemed normal and were for 80% of the time. It was the 20% of crazy that was scary sh*t.

"It was not my intention to belittle you." It was rather an offhand comment and though she was playing with the metal catch for the door at the time. No, that wasn't really an apology. Not one bit.

So... well, that was it then. Lori nodded again and turned to leave. He'd answered her question. More than enough. Her fears were put to rest and now there was nothing left but to leave before someone said something stupid again. "Love you." She put the hood up and tried the door. Locked. Oh, she'd done that. She unlocked the door and then locked it again so when she shut it behind her it'd be locked.

Lori seemed to have gotten the answers she wanted though she still didn't walk into the bedroom. Maybe that was for the best. If she had come in they might have talked more or gotten physical with each other which was probably not the best thing for this situation.

"Love you too." Jacen called after Lori moments before the door clicked shut. Suddenly frozen in place he tried to remember if he had actually said what he thought he'd just said. Yep... he'd said it. But did he mean it?

"Am I really in love with her?" Jacen muttered in disbelief as he turned his attention back to bandaging up his hand. Wow... maybe the day had actually taken a positive turn.
