The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nodding, powers always had weaknesses so it made sense that specifics would make it hard for someone who needed to teleport large distances, Jaxon hissed when he put the healing salve on her hand. But after a moment the sting subsided, and she relaxed again, wrinklingher nose in agreement over the smell. “As much as I would love to see Fredrick get punched in the face a few hundred times, it wouldn’t do much other than make him more mad at me… After all, I never told him I was a mutant, so you would be a big surprise... and not a good one.”
As for her son?... “He just turned six. Jack was a good boy until he was old enough for Fredrick to be interested in him… to want to start training him to be a ‘man’ instead of a ‘mama’s boy’ as he called it.” Jaxon rolled her eyes at that, just as she had done when Fredrick had said it to her. But she had to chuckle. “I know… Me, with a six year-old… It’s weird even when I think about it too much.”
Watching him take care of her, Jaxon could help but compare this to his younger self. He had grown up and matured, that was for sure, and he seemed more himself, rather than a fraction of others. She would have to return the favor and take care of him soon, maybe help lift the strange somber air that hung over him.
When she heard what had happened she couldn’t help but be sorrowful. The brothers had disagreements, but they had still been close when she knew them. “Oh Pluto… I’m so sorry. Having to fight your own… I can’t even imagine how that must have hurt everyone.” Though she hadn’t agreed with all of the ideals some of the boys had held, she had liked most of them as individuals, even when she couldn’t quite tell them apart.
With a sigh, she wrapped her arm around his shoulders, closing the distance between them to give him comfort, her forehead resting against his temple while he wrapped her hand. From his words, she could tell that a few of the large red mutants were no longer living, something she hadn’t thought possible. Talk about a void, no pun intended. She didn’t want to ask, almost afraid to know who. She had met each of them briefly before vanishing from the mutant community, though she had spent most of her time with Venus and Pluto. She couldn’t keep from asking about him though, the one who had essentially led her to the Sanctuary. “Venus? Is he…”
She was almost afraid to say it, shocked that she still had such strong feelings for a man she hadn’t seen in ten years. Though they had briefly dated it hadn’t ever turned into anything more. But she was sure quite a few people had thought otherwise. Something happened, Jaxon couldn’t remember what, but suddenly she hadn’t felt as drawn to Venus, despite their early connection.
Shaking her head, she wrapped her re-bandaged hand around the front of his shoulders, closing her eyes in the simple pleasure of physical touch, hoping that somehow a hug could make things better for Pluto...
~~ “As much as I would love to see Fredrick get punched in the face a few hundred times, it wouldn’t do much other than make him more mad at me… After all, I never told him I was a mutant, so you would be a big surprise... and not a good one.”
Pluto opened a falsely shocked mouth. “I will have you know, I am never a bad surprise….then again if I was there to do the punching, maybe that would be a first.”
“He just turned six. Jack was a good boy until he was old enough for Fredrick to be interested in him… to want to start training him to be a ‘man’ instead of a ‘mama’s boy’ as he called it.”
Hmmm, still sounds like a good boy under a bad influence.he wouldn’t chastise her at the risk of making her feel wrong for leaving.
~“I know… Me, with a six year-old… It’s weird even when I think about it too much.”
“hmmm. I can see it, pretty easily actually the only thing I’m not getting so far is why you are letting either of em get away with it. You do need some time with me.”
~~“Oh Pluto… I’m so sorry. Having to fight your own… I can’t even imagine how that must have hurt everyone.”
“It hurt them more than me.” He said with a bitter grin. Ok that was morbid even for his current mood. But it was the way he always dealt with stuff. Inappropriate humor.
~~“Venus? Is he…”
“Venus is fine, probably the reason I still made it, he is the only other one that would even have a hope of convincing me he wasn’t all bad, by the way. Since you are asking I don’t know if you’ll want to hear it but, you will understand…so the rest of them are there to level Moscow and he stops to get a kiss from one of the x-force…all this destruction being caused and he is like, hey you’re cute, lets make out.”
He pulled her a little closer, and at the moment he simply fought tears away, successfully but, still had to fight them. He pulled her a little closer and simply basked there in the warmth of her embrace and understanding. He half expected her to make a run for it after what he told her. but nope she simply cared for him. He needed that right now like he needed air.
The fact that Pluto could easily see her with a kid made her smile, she was a nurturing type and always had been so it wasn’t that hard to see why he thought that. But for some reason Jaxon felt too young to have a child that old, as if she should only now be starting to think about having children. “I don’t think I’m strong enough to fight them right now… Every time I win a battle I lose the war.” Like with Jack’s schooling, Jax had won the fight to keep him in New York, but Fredrick had still managed to send him to a boarding school where she couldn’t see him and he couldn’t live at home.
Lifting her head she gave him a look, as if to say ‘I see you’ when he said it had hurt the others more. “Liar…” Pluto, like all the brothers, had been tough… But he had also had heart that some of the others lacked. Sometimes being the one that left was harder than being the ones that stayed, and breaking away from the others must have taken something astounding.
The news that Venus was alive, and still the same old Venus judging by the story, made her laugh. “That sounds like V, I guess he hasn’t changed much…” It helped to know that Venus hadn’t gone completely dark, and she tried not to think about why he had stayed with the others instead of joining Pluto.
Feeling him welcome the comfort, Jaxon laid her head on his shoulder, letting him take what he needed, closing her eyes while the two of them seemed to try and absorb each other. The fact that he was shirtless and she had access to all of it, something that her younger-self would have found irresistible to play with, seemed to make this exchange more comfortable rather than sexual. Letting out a soft breath, Jaxon began to relax, letting go of tension that had been building for years.
One of her hands was stroking the back of his neck in a soothing manner, but the touches became lighter and slower as stress caught up with her. The warmth and the safety were making her sleepy, but she fought it, trying to stay awake and failing miserably.
~~“I don’t think I’m strong enough to fight them right now… Every time I win a battle I lose the war.”
“Hmmm.” Pluto grumbled in his best effort to not come off as preachy or too disagreeable.
~~“Liar…”
“And then some.” Though if you asked Saturn or Mercury, that might attest to the fact that dying did indeed hurt more.
~~“That sounds like V, I guess he hasn’t changed much…”
“The core of him is the same.” Pluto agreed. He relaxed as well, he also dosed and eventually fell asleep in a more than welcome companionable embrace he only awoke later to a light tap of the door it was Neon again and it was time for them to go.
Neon whispered lightly. “ Step is ready. He says all aboard to the docking station. You two want me to grab your bags or anything?” he tilted his head quizzically at the snuggly pair.
The room that was referred to the docking station was a place that had been cleared and matched in size to a place in the arctic. Sometimes so much as the paint would follow them…it was an odd experience that you wouldn’t think you had left until you stepped out the matching door. It was kind of like being in an elevator. The door closes and you are in one place but when it opens again, with only the slightest movement the doors open else where.
Pluto moved an escaped piece o hair out of Jaxon’s face.
Jaxon was just starting to wake up, the low voices and sounds drawing her slowly out of the nap, when she felt something touch her face. Her eyes immediately opened, inhaling suddenly like many people did when woken, but the startled expression left once she looked around. Humming in the back of her throat, she stretched slightly as she glanced at her watch. “Is it time? Already?” Her stretch didn’t last long and soon she had relaxed back into place, her drowsy eyes looking from Pluto to Neon and back again.
Jaxon wanted to go, but it seemed like it was moving fast, but it was a good fast. She was half excited half scared, and still waking up… Looking at the boy who had shown her in, and had now caught them sleeping, she blushed. “I left my stuff in the car… Do you want me to go with you?” Besides her suitcase, she had a few small shopping bags, her coat, and her purse left in the car. Not much, but the boy might need some help.
Her dreams had been full of ideas about what it would be like once she got there, ranging from fantastical to barren. Her imagination was delighting in the options, playing out stories in her mind, making up pictures of what it would look like and if she would be able to be happy there.
“Yeah it is, we passed out.” Pluto said as he opened his mouth to yawn butt fought it down.
~~“I left my stuff in the car…” He moved and was gone, she might have felt a slight tug on her pocket but the keys were already there again by the time she would look.
Do you want me to go with you?”
**“I assumed you wanted all the bags, the suit case and a lady can’t leave home with out her purse and coat. Also if you would like us to do up keep on the car while you are gone I could make a copy of your key and put it in the garage for you.”
Her purse was also on her lap, next to her Pluto suddenly had a shirt on over his head..
Neon was again standing by the door only shimmering when he moved.
**“Oh all the bags are in the dock.” Neon grinned. “including yours Big.”
Pluto shook his head at Neon but grinned as he pulled his arms through the sleeves. “Jax, this is Neon,Neon this is Jaxon Kane.” Neon smiled at the name as he recognized her. “he runs fast and does what he wants for the most part, he is also in a rush to have his room all to himself again. Shall we leave?”
“Thanks for everything Neon.” Pluto said to the empty an open door. Shaking his head again. “that boy wares me out.” He smiled at Jax, “all aboard to the south pole. Watch out for the mutant Anti Santa.” He joked as he rose to his feet
Blinking, suddenly a weight settled on her lap and she looked down, surprised to see her purse. When she looked up, Jaxon had to laugh at the way a shirt had been haphazardly pulled on Pluto’s head. The kid’s fast speech and the sudden appearance of the items and Pluto’s explanation finally clued her in on his speed. “Thank you Neon...” Before she could say more after Pluto’s introduction, the boy was gone and she chuckled.
Giving Pluto a sideways glance as he pulled on the shirt, she wasn’t sure if the kid had been hinting something with the clothing, but she had seen the smile at her name. Having never met him before, she could only assume he had heard her name from someone else before now, which made her wonder where.
Jaxon smiled at his comment about Neon wearing him out. “I’m sure the adults in this place are constantly exhausted keeping up with the kids…” The sanctuary had seemed to be mostly older teens and adults when she had visited there, so it hadn’t been as crazy as she heard the mansion had been. A house full of young and growing mutant children was bound to be a nightmare of sugar and insanity.
Jaxon, unlike Pluto, had no problem cracking a yawn. Her face scrunched up and she made a soft sound, before carefully wiping her eyes. “Sorry about that… I didn’t mean to pass out on you. I guess we should let him have his room back without us in it…” Unaware that Pluto had done the same, she picked up her purse and shoved herself to her feet.
With a smile she turned. “Anti Santa, hmm… well I hope he knows who he is messing with.” She laughed. Jaxon had missed this; how had she gone ten years without this kind of humor and friendship? Following Pluto, Jax prepared to step into her new life.
~~ “I’m sure the adults in this place are constantly exhausted keeping up with the kids…”
“Yeah, well a lot of those exhausting kids are teaching here now, so they are getting what they gave. So I don’t feel too bad for them.”He smiled at the thought of the ones that he knew off the top of his head.
~`“Sorry about that… I didn’t mean to pass out on you. I guess we should let him have his room back without us in it…”
“Nah we both obviously needed a nap, besides you can use me for a pillow anytime you like.”
~~ “Anti Santa, hmm… well I hope he knows who he is messing with.”
“Yeah well, He can only do so much and once we show up he will probable just hide for a bit.”
He shook his head at himself he would have to stop now or he would be rambling nonsense for days.
It wasn’t too long before they entered a room with several crates a couple of other people and a man in the middle that was standing in a circle slowly turning in a clockwise direction. He was doing this by taking a minute step and turn. So it seemed natural but he was memorizing every detail and at the moment he was just warming up. He waved at the pair and then pointed toward a corner with a pile of bean bag chairs…apparently Antarctica needed foam filled bags to sit on.
“I think we are being assigned to sit in the corner and behave.” Pluto smirked as the typically playful step was all business. If it wasn’t a serious business he might mess with him. Pluto nodded toward their belongings and where neon had put them. He plopped down on the pile of chairs, “ we might as well go back to sleep, he is going to be doing that for a little bit about half an hour and we will need to stay relatively in the same position. So we don’t mess with him. Talking is still a allowed but I dunno it was comfy, you make a good stuffed animal.”
Laughing, he was probably right about the kids from their time being teachers now, she shook her head in amusement. The idea of using him as a pillow wasn’t a bad one, and Jaxon smiled, laying a hand on his arm with a squeeze of thanks.
Jaxon didn’t even try to remember the route they took, but before long they were there. The room had various supplies and an odd assortment of items that could only be for personal use. She watched the other man for a few moments before following Pluto to the puffy chairs and after a moment’s hesitation over how to sit down, gave up and let herself flop down next to him.
She grinned at him teasingly. “You behave? That I would like to see…” Now that he mentioned it, another nap did sound good… It would probably be busy once they arrived and, though she was hesitant to admit how much she had liked it, sleeping with Pluto had been nice. She tried to ignore the feeling that she was making excuses. “If I’m a stuffed animal and you are a pillow, sleeping sounds like the only thing for us.”
Jaxon thought it might be a bit hard to relax with Step in the room, but after a few minutes, with him hardly moving other than to slowly rotate, she had already mostly stopped noticing him. Jokingly, Jaxon added, "As long as we don't wake up in the middle of a bunch of people, sleeping is a good plan." Shifting side to side so that she sank lower in the bean bag chair, mentally laughing over the idea of bean bag chairs, she wiggled and flopped until she was comfy, her shoulder against Pluto and her head resting low and close to his shoulder.
~~“You behave? That I would like to see…” “If I’m a stuffed animal and you are a pillow, sleeping sounds like the only thing for us.”
“well if you would like to see me behave you might want to lt me fall asleep first, and watch for a minute or two.” He bared his teeth in impish grin, and a glint of troublemaking spirit lit his eyes.
~~"As long as we don't wake up in the middle of a bunch of people, sleeping is a good plan."
He Nodded, “It will only be those that are here now, the other room will be barren just like this one will be after we are there, no one is allowed in until we exit. So we should be good.” That bear like yawn that tried to escape earlier finally crept out of his mouth.
He tilted his head and put it on the top of her bag chair. And promptly began to doze.
Step began to whisper the lyrics to a song in Turkish, it was a lullaby from the sound, of it repetition and soft tones. He did this to calm his own nerves and perform the teleport perfectly; he never had any issues what so ever with getting people there but sometimes items would show up in halves. The worst was when it was food goods. And there was instantly a mess. He stopped whispering and grinned. And just like that they were no long here, but there.
Step let out a loud shout of joy, it had taken him quite some time to do this and he wouldn’t have to again until a few weeks from now. He jumped up and down. Ignoring the fact that they may have been sleeping, they would have to get up any how. So, it was unimportant. “We are here, thank you flying step air ways.”
