The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Neimi smiled as she knocked another shot of Daniels back, leaning in her chair and swivelling a little. She might have looked a little drunk to anyone observing, but those at the poker table with her knew better than to take the large amounts of alchohol she consumed for granted. They were her regular poker partners, and they knew that the more she drank, the more observant she became, somehow. This time they were playing five-card draw, and Neimi smiled as she appraised the only newcomer at the table. He was a short kid, standing not more than 5' 10", and a skinny one. He had a couple friends, and they were sitting on behind him on his side of the table, watching the game.
Neimi grinned broadly, and pushed in almost all of her chips. She was the leader, so everyone would have to go all in to call. The two people to her left folded, as did the one to her right. Left was her and the newcomer, the second in money. He laid out his hand: a full house. Neimi laid out hers, a straight flush. 9,10, Jack, Queen, and King of spades. The game was hers, and she smiled again as she grabbed all of the money in the pot and shoved it in her purse, except for a hundred dollar bill that she kept in her hand. She laid this bill on the bar as she took a seat, and said "Gimme some green, James, and keep it rolling." The bartender shook his head, smiling, and set a bottle of absinthe in front of Neimi. Neimi took a long swig of the absinthe, then sighed. Her grin slowly melted off of her face, however, as she felt a tap on her shoulder. She knew who it was, even before she swiveled in her chair and looked at the newcomer and his friends, standing before her. "Hello boys," she said genially, "Care for a game of billiards?"
The newcomer just shook his head and said "You cheated. I know that you couldn't have gotten that hand, because you should have gotten a two pair of threes."
Neimi chuckled. "So the cheater accuses me of cheating? How do you know that the dealer would actually honor your deal, and that he wouldn't tell me about it? Haziel and I are old friends, you stupid milksap." She eyed the man and his friends carefully. Not much of a fight, but it might at least get her warmed up. Might
The man growled and started to step forward, but one of his friends' eyes widened a bit, and that friend grabbed his shoulder, spinning him about. He whispered in the man's ear, then all of the men turned tail and walked out of the bar. Neimi sighed. Seemed that she was bound to be bored that night. Still, she might be able to get a good game of pool in. She racked up the balls, chalked up a cue, and leaned against the wall near one of the tables, waiting for someone to approach her.
Another night in the city that never sleeps...and you'd think with a nickname like that, there would be so much to do in New York City that no one would ever get bored. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for Arielle. Being a party junkie, she had been to almost every club in the city, dined at the best restaurants, and had been to every shopping complex...that she knew of anyway. Of course since the city was so huge, there were many places for her to discover and explore, but tonight she didn't have the will to go looking for those. No better way to kill boredom than just walking around New York. Just like Brazil, New York has full of interesting people...except in Brazil people were a whole lot friendlier. Almost everyone in New York had an attitude. Americans seemed so uptight. They need to just unwind and go with the flow....of course, this thought was coming from a girl who could turn into water and flow into almost anyplace water could. Of, but it's not like she used her powers to sneak into the most elite of night clubs in new York city so that she could have a hot night life...ok, maybe a few times, but what mutant didn't use their powers for personal gain? She wasn't hurting anyone by it.
Of course, the one thing that bugged Arielle the most was the drinking age in America. Seriously, you could buy cigarettes and flash your goodies on video at the age of 18, but you couldn't have a drink until 21? Yet at 18 you're legally declared an adult.
"This country is so backwards..." Arielle sighed with narrowed eyes. Still, she had a taste for alcohol that night, and she would make sure she would have a glass of something. Even a beer would do. Even if she had to flirt her way into getting a drink. It really did pay to be beautiful and foreign...unless the bartender was a heterosexual girl or homosexual male. Then her natural temptress abilities were useless.
It wasn't long before Arielle stumbled upon a little pool hall/bar. Instantly when she walked inside the scent of cigarettes rushed into her nostrils, causing her face to contort into an expression of disgust with a hint of pain, because cigarette were one of the smells Arielle could barely tolerate.
"Yeah, I'm definitely not sure about drinking here..." the brazilian teen sighed backing over towards the pool tables and leaned against the wall, attempting to blend in, but the fact that she was wearing a designer silk white blouse, a jean skirt and french perfume surely made her stick out like a soar thumb, considering everyone else in the place looked a bit roughed up. She looked over to her left as saw a red haired girl posted up on the wall also with a pool cue in her possession.
"Whats up?" Arielle nodded, hiding her nervousness behind a grin.
Neimi turned to her side to see a girl standing against the wall next to her. She turned her head back to face the front, though her instincts screamed at her to doubletake. The girl was definately not dressed to go slumming in the bars, especially not this seedy dump of a place. She had a designer dress on, of the white variety, and her exotic skin hinted at a corperate daughter. One of the usually broken ceiling fans kicked on, changing the flow of air from ground cigarrete butts to sweet, obviously expensive french perfume. Neimi slowly turned her head to face the girl again, and smiled.
"Pool. Wanna play? Loser pays for the drinks..." Neimi said. Really, it was a lot better for her to win, because then the rich girl would have to shoulder her enourmous booze tab. No sane bargoer who had heard of Neimi's famous ability to drink would have taken that bet, but Neimi was hoping that this girl was a little less familiar with the undercurrents of the city.
"...Pool?" Arielle quirked an eye brow at the woman beside her, noticing how much taller she was compared to herself. Then again, almost everyone at the mansion minus the young ones were taller than her, but still she still sulked on the inside. "I don't know how to play pool, so I'm afraid that I'd be at a disadvantage. Also, apparently in this country I'm still to young to purchase alcohol, so even if I did take up your bet, there would be no way I could keep up my end of the deal." she spoke taking her back from the wall and walking over to the pool table, looking down at the colored and numbered spheres.
"I've seen the game played on movies and television, I've just never played it myself. Doesn't really look that fun to me. Just knocking a bunch of balls into holes with a giant stick. Yes, very interesting..." the brazilian nodded, putting a hand t her chin in thought. "Then again, I shouldn't judge since I've never played. Perhaps you'd like to demonstrate on how to ?"
"...Pool? I don't know how to play pool, so I'm afraid that I'd be at a disadvantage. Also, apparently in this country I'm still too young to purchase alcohol, so even if I did take up your bet, there would be no way I could keep up my end of the deal."
Neimi quirked her eyebrow and her grin widened. "Too young? Not in New York city, you're not. Well, if you don't know pool, you want to sit and talk for a bit? I'm sure something interesting to do will find us." Actually, Neimi was anticipating a bar fight, but the girl didn't have to know that.

"Sounds fine to me," Arielle shrugged and walked over to take a seat at the bar. It was then when Arielle started to feel a bit uncomfortable in her current surroundings. Not that she was afraid, definitely not the case. She just didn't appreciate the looks and stares she was gathering from the men in the place. She was always happy to gain stares from the opposite as they noted her beauty, but these guys were going a bit over board. They were literally staring at her like a piece of meat. Not to mention none of the men who were in the bar were of her taste.
As she hopped up on the stool, Arielle looked over at Neimi with a small smile. "I suppose a good way to start off a conversation would be introducing ourselves. I'm Arielle," the Brazilian spoke.
Neimi was at the bar even before the girl had responded. As the girl sat next to her, Neimi smiled at the bartender, waving for two of the usual. The man grunted a little and turned around to search for Neimi's favorite.
{"I suppose a good way to start off a conversation would be introducing ourselves. I'm Arielle,"}
"Ha, ha, yes, I suppose so. Y'can call me Neimi, and maybe later I'll tell you my real name." Neimi said with a sly wink, to show she was joking. Then the bartender ambled over with two blue-tinged bottles of absinthe, and a shot glass for Arielle. Neimi didn't use a glass, but instead raised the bottle and said "To new acquantances, until one of us gets tossed out the window!" Then drank heartily, finishing the bottle in about two seconds, and calling for another.

"Neimi? It's....nice to meet...you," Arielle blinked watching and was amazed at how fast the girl had downed her liquor. Not a shot, but a whole bottle and instantly called for another. "Um...wow... was all she could say and let out a laugh. "I thought I could drink. You...you...how can you chug that so fast? Aren't you the bit sick?"
