The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Hmm...a mind reader. There seem to be quite a few of you around lately." Loriauna smiled, her eyes twinkling slightly. A guy with personality...a pleasant change. "A telepath and telekinetic, right?"

"Ain't that the truth." Loriauna ran a hand through her hair absent-mindedly, her stormy-blue eyes gazing about. "So what are you out here for? I figured you would both be inside, doing whatever it is mutants in an institute do."
"Well, one thing you learn living here..." Mike looked around absently, "Is that there really isn't anything that mutants DON'T do. Or maybe some of us are just subconsciously suicidal. I suppose that's a distinct option, even though it isn't really fair for me to HAVE a subconscious."

"wow us three could the start of some really dodging joke a telepath a shadow bender and machine contolling person walk into bar.On second thoughts that not so good my names kaine by the way"
Loriauna smirked at Kaine. "Somehow, I have a feeling that joke would end with the bar in shambles and the three of us on the run from the police." Looking back to Cassiel, she shrugged. "I always figured that an institute for mutants just seemed...weird. Mutants claim they are the same as all other humans, then make themselves their own institute. A bit contradictory to me, but I guess that could just be my own opinion."
Loriauna had wondered about such things...she had been invited to the institute before, but she never believed in it and the ideas behind it. Why make a place for mutants only if they were the same as humans? She lived alongside the humans and liked it much better, frankly. She figured her way of life was closer than that of the institute's inhabitants to the way of life they both longed for.
Then again, it could have just been her opinion. She could just be wrong...but she rarely was. Being hooked up to computers so much had made her rather smart.
Mike shrugged. "Well, we're not the same as humans. It seems kind of foolish to pretend that we are... I don't see any humans throwing fire or reading minds. We should be TREATED the same, but that doesn't mean we ARE the same. So the humans don't know what to do with us, don't know how to help us... so we end up with places like this. It'd be pointless to try to get a human to teach us how to control what we can do, after all."

"Let put it this way we are all hipocrites and that joke does end in a bar fight and the police how did you know when have you been on a night out with me?"Kaine stood there playing with his shadow making it do things he wasnt. Kaine stood perfectly still but his shadow was yoyoing
Loriauna looked from Kaine to Cassiel. Kaine came across as a bit of an idiot, too talkative. While Cassiel...well, we all have our own opinions. She shruged. "Look, guys, nice talking to you all, but I should split. This place has got nothing for me. Kinda dull, filled with snot-nosed kids...I know we've all got dark pasts, but I think cuddling them and sheltering them from the real world isn't the way to do it. I mean, sure, they might end up like him..." She jerked a thumb at Kaine, "but they'll never be able to function if they constantly think that this institue is the only way they can survive. Maybe that isn't what you're telling them, but that is what they think...just look at them. I came up here the other day and the kids were all afriad I might take them away or that I would hurt them, and they all went for the adults nearby. They don't want to leave, Cassiel...they are afraid of anyone who isn't part of the institute. Maybe you're okay with that but it worries me...it worries me a hell of a lot."
Turning, she began to walk off, hands in her pockets, needing to get away. The institute frightened her...she needed to get away from it.
"So you'd rather put them back in human orphanages and schools, so they can be taught that they're freaks and be abused by their schoolmates, teachers and, God help us, parents?" Mike was slightly irritated now. "Taking them out of here isn't going to do them any favors. You need a safe place to learn to defend yourself, to learn who you are, or you're going to end up more screwed up than you're implying they are right now. Try naming a few other places they can grow up where they won't be taught to be ashamed of what they are."
Cassiel fixed her with a piercing glare, flicking away the cigarette butt and folding his arms. "That's what this place is about. Giving them a chance to be more than the freaks that the humans say they are. Try to deny it, go ahead, but that's what happens most of the time. The younger ones are afraid, yes, but they've got their reasons. They'll grow out of it." He smirked humorlessly, "And yes, this is the oppinion of someone who's seen this place from the inside for longer than a half hour."

Loriauna stopped in her tracks, her face unreadible since she was facing the other direction. There was awkward silence as she just stood there. Calmly, her voice cutting through the silence like a knife, she spoke. "You're talking to the girl who lived through all that. I've been in institutes, labs, and God only knows where else. I got to watch my parents check themselves into an institute because they thought that they were going insane...I got to live on my own since I was in the second grade. I've been hounded by mutants and non-mutants unlike, both considering me as no more than a pawn...a freak. Yes, mutants are just as cruel as humans, pal. That smart nonmutant that sits in the back of the class in his normal school? He's still getting his ass kicked. He's still getting beaten by his damned parents...he's still becoming messed up by society. And guess what? He'll have to live through it. Because, and I hate to break it to you, but everyone is this world is cruel. Me, you, dumbass over there...we're all cruel no matter our level of evolution."
She then turned her head over her shoulder, looking at him with a look of pure cold fire. "So don't act like you're all high-and-mighty pal, because you aren't. I'm not either, but I've been living here on the streets while you lived in that mansion of yours. All that is holding back cruelty is those walls and a couple security systems, and that isn't shit for holding back things like rage and hate. And that is coming from someone who has lived out here their entire lives and not just when they were little, babe. From someone who has lived out here and seen it for what it is for well over half an hour."
With that, she walked down the street, hailing a cab. Mindfreak and Smoothtongue were getting on her nerves...

Loriauna looked at him, a fake smile on her face. "Don't forget to pull the stick out of your ass and the one out from between your ears...your pretty brain would like its space back." With that little witchy statement, she headed into the cab. They both had good arguments, that much was true...but Loriauna just wasn't all that into the mansion. Maybe she'd come back later...meet up with Tricity.
