The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

ooc: Closed sorry! Just for Em!
ic: Raina looked about her dorm nervously. It had been a while since she'd cleaned it on account of all the time spent with Luke and then trying to catch up on her mansion duties. Even though she just tidied it she wondered if Emerald would notice what a fast job she'd done of it... even resorting to shoving things under her bed.
She was nervous. Not nervous because she was seeing Em- she'd gotten over that a long time ago... but nervous because of what she was going to tell Em and how she was going to react. Em was a great person but stroak her temper the wrong way and she could be a lose cannon. Raina didn't want to point that cannon in the wrong direction.
There was something gravely bothering Raina, something she'd read about in the paper. It reminded her of the shark finning she saw happening when she was with Sara. She knew Em would be passionate and angry when Raina told her what she had to tell her... but she hoped the woman would focus her anger and help Raina.
It was hard to tell. But Raina couldn't do this alone... that was for sure. She needed Em, and if Em wanted to do anything about what she'd tell her... Em needed her too.
She'd called Emerald twenty minutes earlier using the excuse that she wanted to check up on Ems frost bitten hands and wouldn't take no for an excuse. It was partially true... but what Raina needed to talk about couldn't be done over the phone.
She sat anxiously waiting for the knock on her door.
Emerald had been confused as to why Raina felt it was so urgent to see how her hands were feeling, in truth they were feeling a lot better than they were before. The female’s hand was now taped due to the blisters finally bursting on them, causing a nasty little mess. Though, she doubted that she would tell Raina the gruesome details. Finally when she reached the door and knocked on it, she wondered inwardly if it may be something more to Raina’s almost urgency of getting her there. The jean jacket clad female waited anxiously outside the door, her tail wagging back and forth impatiently.
”Hey Raina Its me.” Emerald called to the older woman, tucking a strand of crimson hair behind her slightly pointed ear.
((Your're more than welcome to Gmod Em moving inside after you answer the door so you can get your point across.))

Raina nearly jumped when she heard Em's voice. "Hey! Sorry, I'm a bit on edge." she opened the door all the way and invited her friend in, pulling up her computer wheely chair for Em to sit on while she sat across from her on the bed.
"I'll be honest, I was worried about your hands but that's not why I called you in here." she reached behind her back and pulled out a newspaper clipping. "you're going to be pissed when you read this." she said frankly. "but... I can't take this on without you. I know you more than any other mutant here would be the best to go. I need you to get me in." she hadn't yet handed Emerald the paper yet. She was shaking a little knowing it would set her off but praying to God Em would see it from her perspective.
She finally handed the paper to Emerald. It was an intense article about a local thug who'd been running an illegal dog fighting operation based out of the inner city. Someone had posted his bail and he'd relocated his fight zone. Several of his previous animals had been collected by animal humane services and the details of the dog's conditions were downright awful. The article went on in grave detail about the way the animals were tortured, some used as bate dogs, others bred and bred against their will, some having all their teeth pulled out... and the guy running this was walking free. (ooc: basically this whole article details that documentary you and I both watched so just fill in the gaps with all the details from that)
Raina was silent while Emerald read and she sat with her head down and her hands in her lap waiting for the wolf girls reaction. "We can't let a man like that walk Em." Raina suddenly understood why Emerald was the one she needed help from. It wasn't just because Emerald could take on the form of a wolf and get her into a fight... it's because Em had experieince treading that line between justice and justifying a bad action by a good reason. Emerald was exactly who she needed.
"I was thinking... if you went in your wolf form as my dog I'd be entering in the-" she hestitated on this part as it made her sick to her stomach "fight..." she continued. "we'd get easy access. Once we infiltrate it I think we could keep them busy enough with our abilities that they wont realize the police are coming. I'm sure we could give them one hell of a payback while we're waiting." she added. "I just dont want anymore animals getting hurt. This is sick and you're the only person I thought of to come to."
she looked across at Emerald seriously with pain in her eyes. Emerald understood. She knew before Em even responded that Emerald would understand.
By the time Emerald had sat into the wheel chair she knew something was up, she could just tell by the fear scent coming off of her. Luckily though it wasn’t her that Raina was scared off it would seem that it was the article she had given her. As soon as Raina started talking just as she was reading, Emerald felt her entire body tensing up like a coiled up slinky. Dog fighting wasn’t exactly something she was unfamiliar with, in fact one could say that Emerald had been through a been there done that scenario with it. After being forced to fight against her own will against other mutants by that bastard Fusionist she felt more sympathy than most people thought she felt for these dogs.
Slowly, Emerald felt her fists clench as she listened to not only Raina but the distant sounds from the past roaring in her ears. The roars of the crowd, the gore, the bloodshed these were the things these dogs had to deal with every day. These poor things didn’t know any better though they were raised like this since they were puppies and they didn’t know why they shouldn’t fight. Pain, anger and Sadness washed across the young womans face like a wave that she was unable to control. To say that the wolf girl was effected by this was an understatement she was literally moved by it in a way that most people didn’t get to see her like.
Automatically people assumed she preformed her Vigilantee acts just to cause trouble for the X men and to be the ‘bad girl’ persona that she is often associated with however, she always had a reason for doing what she did. A lot of times one had to be bad in order to achieve a win for the greater good and no one knew that more than Emerald.
”This hits far to close to home for me to let this slide,” Emerald told Raina, looking up at her teacher with cold determination. She clenched her fists slightly a look of sadness eteching itself upon her features again, something she really dint show to often. Her tail rested next to her but the fur itself was standing on end ready to fight. “Those poor dogs, it isn’t fair…no one should be forced to fight. Or kill one another it just isn’t right! They should have good homes and be loved not forced to fight as if they are some test subjects in a twisted game!”
Emerald let out a shuddering sigh obviously trying to keep her anger under control for a second it looked as if she was blinking back…something.. After several deep breathes she managed to look up Raina with a small bit of amusement in those eyes of hers.
”However how we are gonna pass you off as a rough and tumble dog fighter I really don’t know. Because I know for a fact you are gonna have to be mean if you are gonna be around these thugs and I doubt you have a mean bone in your body.” The amusement on the wolf girls face allowed her to relax from her rather emotional moment before.

Raina relaxed as Emerald went through the motions of processing the information. She could tell the wolf-girl was upset and angry but she'd lightened the mood for both of them by asking how Raina was gonna pass for a baddie. Raina had to laugh. "I don't know." she admitted. "I'm a bit of a goody-two-shoes aren't I? But I've got to try and it's not like I can turn into a wolf. I wouldn't want you to go instead and take a dog- it could get hurt. Whereas taking you I know you can take care of yourself. " she looked herself up and down. "Well, we can put some temporary hair dye in, or a wig... I could go for the goth or punk rock look." she leaned over and stood up heading to her closet to throw a few denim things on the bed. "I used to have much more hardcore clothing but since landing the teaching job and the aqaurium job I've been dressing ratherly profesionally."
She turned to Em "I guess I'll have to work on my mean face." she tried to make a mean face and ended up bursting into laughter.
She felt good. this was good. Em was going to help her like she knew she would.
Emerald rolled her eyes at the older woman letting out a laugh. It would take a lot of work to make Raina seem the least bit intimidating but she figured that Raina could do it if she really tried.
”Ill be right back.” Emerald told Raina leaving the room for just a moment she soon returned with some things Raina could probably wear. It consisted of a leather jacket, spiked dog collar, a blue bandana and a bracelet made out of what it seemed to be real bullets. “This should help with your tough girl image.” The wolf girl said, placing the items on the bed.
The female waited to see Raina’s reaction to all of this, because of the fact that Raina didn’t exactly seem the type that would wear any of this at any time. Well, if they were gonna play the part and save the dogs, she would have to look like a tough girl in order ot play a tough girl.
“Also, work on you glare and your mean face. Growling helps as well, usually scares the hell out of people.”

Raina laughed when Emerald returned and placed the items infront of her. She instantly went rumidging through her clothes trying to come up with something tough. She had a pair of ripped jeans, her rancid shirt and a ripped vest. She started pulling them on. "I've got a few things from back in the punk rock days." the clothes made her think of Rupert and she pushed the thought to the back of her mind. "but nothing like this." she pulled on the collar, bracelet, and other items. She glanced herself in the mirror and pracitsed her mean look with an embaressed laugh.
"Em..." she started. "I have a general idea where they are. I thought if I took you there you'd be able to smell all the other dogs. Then we could narrow it down. But I think we should go tonight." she turned to Em more seriously. "...and I don't think anyone at the mansion should know. I think they'll get suspicious. Especially if we leave together this late at night. I was thinking I could wear a long jacket to leave and say I'm going to Luke's for the night. It might take us til morning anyway. Then I could meet up with you outside wolf form."
she looked at Emerald to see how comfortable she felt with this. "I may be a bit of a ditz but Im a ditz who can act. I know we can fool these guys."
Emerald smiled at Raina’s tough girl look knowing that the older girl would have to do a little work before she fully became a tough girl. However, she could pull off punk well so that was fairly close to what they were going for. The wolf girl thought as to how they were gonna get these dogs out and she figured that a run in and beat ‘em up wouldn’t work to well for these guys. If the girls made to much of a scene it is likely that they would call the authorities which is probably something that Raina would like to avoid, Em on the other hand didn’t mind knocking out a few cops if it was for doing the right thing and saving someone or thing that she knew they couldn’t save.
“Like I would tell anyone at the mansion? I don’t tell you guys things that I go out and do anyways because it would ruin my fun so why would I ruin the fun mission we are about to have?” Emerald asked with a mischievous grin. “Besides, perhaps I could walk out with you, gonna help ‘protect’ you from anyone who wants to harass ya? Im you’re temporary body guard as a matter of fact.”
The wolf girl morphed into her wolf form, standing next to Raina obediently, obviously ready to go kick some peoples ass. The female wagged her tail at Raina and looked around obediently, making sure there was nothing around before licking the odler woman’s hand.

Raina grinned and looked down at the wolfy in her room and popped down on her knees and gave her a scratch behind the ears. "you're one cute wolfy girl!" she laughed. "but it's getting late and we gotta get on the move." she stood up and pulled on the jacket. "And you maybe able to just walk outta here... but Im a teacher leaving in the middle of the night. Kinda suspicious don't you think?" she laughed.
In truth she hoped no one caught them as she started making her way down the hall
