The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Leila gritted her teeth together as her left hand searched for her Room Keys. The right one was busy holding a see through bag with two little Gold Fishes inside. Some weird stuff had happened in the past two days, she had been aware of some little chattering everytime she past the giant aquarium in the Living Room a few floors below. So now she had her own Fishes, maybe they'd talk too? Could she really hear Fish when not a Dolphin? She needed to try.
Finally the young blonde found her keys and opened the door to reveal a small bedroom with a single bed, dresser and desk. The room seemed pretty clean for having been at the Mansion for nearly 3 weeks, there was a pile of Dirty Laundry she hadn't gone on to do yet, but apart from that and the cluttered Desk, the room was clean; at least her bed was made.
Leila smiled as she put the bag full of water on her desk beside the small Fish Tank. She dropped her Winter Coat on the Desk Chair and gazed at her silent fish. Maybe they didn't have anything good to say? Or bad, for that matter. She hoped so, because if they didn't talk to her, that meant she could hear voices, and that wasn't a good sign. "Maybe if I prepare the Tank?" she whispered to herself.
"Gee, that would help!" a small voice could be heard nearby. Leila froze in the movement of getting up, glancing at the Bag. "What?" she asked, as if she couldn't believe fish could talk. "I said, that would help!" the fish repeated, now Leila believed what she was hearing and smiled, walking out the door to the Bathroom, the tank in hand.

As Leila entered the Bathroom a few doors down the Hall, she started thinking a little about everything that had happened since she had moved in here. First, Raina's Birthday Party gets crashed and she gets a glimpse of how dangerous and fun this can be. Next she meets Slate whom she likes enough to go out with.... even if they started out nearly strangling each other. Afterwards she simply roamed around, trying to learn her route to diffrent arears in the house by heart... That was easy enough, working at the Café Downtown was also pretty easy, she gained a little extra cash... Her father's ten grand was quickly disolving in nothingness now that the man didn't know where she lived to send her more money.
Oh, and going to school, that was probably the best part. She loved learning Marine Biology, it was the greatest thing in the word. With the homework over flowing, she was pretty busy and could easily distract herself for hours on end. A few weeks later she meets Sam again and the two of them meet Iron Mouth... There, Leila gets her first taste at the Mutant life, she must say... She loves this life a lot. For once, she actually feels home, she can actually fit in without having to be at Parties or shopping in the mall. She can talk about her true self, her Creative, artistic, fish self. She can have real friends... Not just the ones who like you for you're money. Hell, she didn't even think anyone knew she had a Billionaire for a father. Though, she hadn't seen him in 2 years, ever since she moved away from School at Nineteen.
It's been about a week since Sam, Iron Mouth and herself had been practicing, and since then Leila had been hearing those strange, bubbly voices whenever she was near Fishes. She had never really heard a conversation, but like murmurs, but that was probably because she had never paid attention until now. Did this mean she could have conversation with Fish? She could use this at her advantage too help her friends. Seriously, she could order Sharks to hunt down enemies whenever they went for swims! The tank was nearly ¾ full, a few more inches and it would be perfect. A little hard to carry down the hall in her bedroom, but she'd manage it somehow.

There. Perfect, the water was cold too, she'd have to go and buy a Heater this evening after work. Nothertheless, the little guys would be fine until then. They'd probably tell her if it was too cold to live in anyway, if so she'd go and fetch the Heater right away, she had three hours to spare before having to go work anyway. Although, she had wanted to use that time to try and strenghen her Fish Comunication Abilities. Some ability too, she had never known she'd had it until recently. Taking a deep breath, Lei flexed her fingers and then took the heavy Aquarium. This thing weighted at least 100 pounds! It was nearly as heavy as she was for goodness's sake.
With an other deep breath, she started walking. Hating herself for not having taken the time to bring the lid. She was getting soaked! After about two minutes, she was finally in her white room. Placing the Tank back in it's rightful place, she pulled off her wet Hoodie and dumped it into the dirty laundry basket. Opening the plastic see-through bag, she put the two fish in the Tank. "Okay guys, now I need a little favor from you two." she said, feeling like an idiot. "You need to help me with my Power okay? I need you to converse with me, tell me if anything is wrong." she explained, not really certain they could understand her.
"Gotcha," this time it was a squeakier voice then the last time, definately more feminine too. Could she have bought a male and female? Hmmm... "Okay, good. You guys understand me then?" she asked, taking her coat and dropping it on her bed so she could sit on her Desk Chair. "We understand all the Humans, but you're the first one to respond to us." the male said. Leila nodded, this was a good start. Maybe she didn't need practice, maybe she could understand Fishes at will. "I'll name you guys, it'll make it a little easier." she muttered, mostly to herself. "You're Goldie, and You're Fisher." she said, smiling as the two did a small loop.

As the afternoon progressed, Leila found herself perfecting her new Aquarium with the adivce of two fishes who'd be living in it. "Like this then6" she asked, getting rather comfortable with them now. It wasn't THAT weird, talking to fish. Okay, so maybe a month ago it would of been a little freaky, but now Lei was used to weird. I mean come on, she was living in a Mansion full of people with Special Abilities! She was sure there was nothing else weirder then that.
The Tank seemed more Fish-friendly now. With two hours of work, Leila had gotten the Filter in it, blue and white rocks filled the buttom, along with multipe ammounts of fake plants and giant rocks. There was even a fake sunken pirate ship and treasure chest, just for a laugh. Leila moved back against her dresser and looked at the Tank more clearly from a far angle. "Perfect." she said, watching her two new friends swimming proudly in their new home.
She had done quite well. "Now, I have an hour before work." she said to them as she sat back on the Desk Chair and opened her Lap Top. "Do you think you can help me with an Essay for Class?" she asked, the two swam to the edge of the Tank, "Sure! We know a lot about Marine Biology." Goldie said. Leila didn't laugh, she scanned her Coputer a little angrily. "Stupid Machine..." she mummbled, "Thing's not working."
By 10 before 4:00, she hadn't gotten it working, and she was going to be late for her shift that was beginning in 10 minutes. So, instead of doing her Essay, she simply closed the Maxhine and spun around to face the Tank. The two had started swimming, waiting for her to get the Lap Top running normally. "Guys, I'll be late for work, i'll talk to you later." she said, but the Fish just stared at her blankly. "Er, can you guys...." but no, they couldn't speak anymore, or she couldn't understand them.

"Guys?" she asked again, her coat in hand. The two fish kept silent, bubbles coming from their mouth. They were trying to talk to her, but Leila couldn't understand. Something was wrong, her Abilities had suddenly... stopped? "Oh well, I have to go to work." she mummbled, putting on the white fluffy coat. "I'll sort this out later anyway, probably just an Off and On thing." she decided and opened the door, glancing once more at the Fish.
At work, Leila could barely concentrate. What had happened back home with her Fish? She had been hearing murmurs every single time she passed the Aquariums at the Mansion, everytime she went to the Ocean to practice her shifting, which by the way, she could still do very well, yet, now that she had offically had her first conversation with them, she couldn't anymore?
Maybe she should head off to the Ocean this evening after work, see if everything's still normal with her Shape-Shigting. She had only been to the Ocean Twice since at the Mansion, both times she had been able to Transform into her Dolphin Form without being sighted. Both times, she had concversed with two more Dolphins. Maybe nothing would be wrong, maybe, like she had first thought, it was an Off and On thing.
After work, she'd definately go off to the Ocean nearby.
