The cat gave a solidly approving whisker-tilt as its new-found fungal friend showed proper respect to the Shrine. The food choices he selected from those hallow chilled shelves were interesting: the smells were not quite the sort that would have attracted the little cat's own nose. To each his own, however.
As the teen brought his selections table-ward, the cat caught the closing refrigerator door with a thrust of his head. A full body wiggle and a paw kick sent it swinging wide: from there, it was the matter of a nimble leap to bring him to the top shelf. A package of baloney found itself kicked out onto the kitchen floor. With all due reverence and respect, of course. Another leap and a crouch to the floor found the refrigerator door shutting just above his own fine self.
He took a moment to sit up, and groom his chest. Then, plastic baloney package snatched between teeth and dragged with all the pride of a lion's fresh kill, he joined Fungus at the table. The opposite side of the table, in any case, and rather more 'on the table' than 'on a chair'. As his claws began making meticulously practiced work of the packaging holding in his prize, he addressed the spotty teen again:
"You mentioned something back there about not having been around people, for awhile. Been on your own for a bit?" It was as good of a story-prompter as any. Calley did love learnin' about the peoples.
