The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A yawn escaped, right in the middle of Calley's promise to see her the next day. She hadn't meant to let it escape, but it had finally grown too big and strong for her to hold onto its leash any longer. The teenager clock inside of her had finally reached bedtime, and it would be wise to get at least a little bit of sleep before the new day started. She detangled herself from the sheets and hopped to the floor.
“I'll be okay by myself. I'm a big strong girl.” Katrina flexed the muscles in her arms to demonstrate, and as she did, her kitty coloring was erased and replaced by skin as red as a tomato. Her hair turned black from root to tip, like a bad dye job in fast forward. Her ears shrank back to normal sizes again, but her tail did not; instead, it switched color from base to tip to match her crimson skin. Katrina hadn't missed that half a grin the shifter had given her, and she wanted to see if she could convert it into a full grin.
She gave a mock thoughtful expression, and stroked her chin, leaving behind a miniature goatee. “Well, I think I should be going now.” And with that, she made a swirling black and portal with hints of purple and starlight inside and stepped in, winking a sleepy eye before vanishing into the illusionary void.
Calley was not going to reward the tween with a full grin. The Abyss imitation was sudden and amazing, but he still had his pride as a sulker.
Calley was not going to stoop so low as to fully grin. Not even if that Void was even better than the real one--with purple and starlight and swirls, oh my! Oh no. No, there would be no grin for her.
This, right here on his face, where a tweenager who-couldn't-use-the-Void so who-was-probably-invisible-and-watching: this, friends and foes and mere acquaintances, was no grin. This was simply a closed-mouth yawn without noise. It happened to coincide with Katrina's fiendish attack against the last remnants of his sulk: that was all. Nothing more. Not a grin.
"Good night, Kat." He said, into the supposedly empty air. Then, with a little shake, he sat himself up. He didn't know when Neena would come. It was probably best to stay be awake, when she did.
