The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee could only stare at the younger woman standing before her as she explained she liked knowing different ways to get places, and wasn't worried about the reasons she shouldn't be in side alleys because she could take care of herself.
She wasn't worried? Lee couldn't help but wonder what this girl was able to do; even though Lee rarely ever worried about her physical safety around humans, she still rarely pushed that issue by wandering through dark, empty alleys. Well, it was either that this girl had a power that gave her much more confidence about her safety than Lee's did, or she was simply crazy.
But then the woman asked if Lee saw dead people too. She blinked, but before she was able to say anything, Tarin was responding, but it seemed that it was more to her than to the other woman, explaining further about what he had told her and that he wouldn't make the mistake of calling her his fiancée again.
But even after the months that she had been gone, it was still a force of habit for Tarin to call her his fiancée? They hadn't been engaged that long, she hadn't thought, for it to have become that much of a habit.
"We'll talk about it later," Lee told Tarin. And while it was something Lee figured would need to be discussed, out behind the shop in front of some girl they had just met who seemed to think wandering through alleys was not a bad idea, was not the time to do it.
"No, I don't see dead people," Lee finally responded. "I just manage the shop, and try to keep him on top of the cleaning. Speaking of which..." Lee trailed off, her eyes slowly drifting back to Tarin.
((OOC: Tarin, I spoke with Lee about where we could go with this and she thought it might be interesting. Basically Syn is going to use her power to raise the tension level until Lee decides to knock Syn out by touching her and draining her energy. Once she's out cold you guys get scared and take her inside the shop where tarin gets curious at some point and sees all the dead people linked with Syn. Once it's determined she's too dangerous to keep you guys drop her off at a hotel or something. Anything but the Cops. ))
The man spoke up again but his words seemed directed to the new woman more than to Syn. He almost sounded like he was trying to justify his actions to her. It was like he was affraid of her or something. This was getting interesting.
When the woman spoke again she practically sounded like she was the guy's mother or something. Telling him they would talk about things later and all. Internally Syn was laughing at the situation. The girl was a little disappointed when the woman said she only ran the shop. How boring is that? Then she turned on the guy once more about keeping the place clean. Sheesh! Was she his mom or were they really engaged.
All of this was too much fun to pass up and so Syn began using her pheremones. She wanted to see if she could raise the tension level even further. Maybe they'd start really fighting. Now that would be a show worth walking down the alley for. "Are you sure you two aren't engaged? You sure argue like an old couple already." Syn shook her head.

OOC = Sounds like a plan, Tarin's going to try to get away now though...so have fun getting him to stay! :-D
Of course they would talk about it later. Tarin was really starting to feel peevish about the whole situation and it was frustrating, things had been going so well. They'd made it so far in their relationship since Lee'd decided that they should give it another try....but that was kind of the problem. Lee had decided they should give it another try, Lee was deciding the pace that things would go, Lee was controlling everything....and while Tarin had meant it from the bottom of his heart that he'd wait for her as long as it took, it was frustrating at times. This was apparently one of those times.
The woman in the alleyway seemed to be doing everything she could to make the situation worse and Tarin was really starting to be done with the whole thing. Then she said that they were bickering like an old married couple and Tarin let out an exasperated and impatient sigh. "Yeah, well. I guess we'd better quit doing that before people get the wrong idea, huh?" he said.
Lee admitted that she couldn't see dead people, and Tarin rolled his eyes when she said that she kept on him to make sure the place was clean. It might have been true, but Lee apparently felt the need to broadcast it to everyone.
The woman was really starting to make Tarin feel uncomfortable now and Tarin decided that ti was time for this to all end. "Well, it was nice to meet you Miss, but if there's nothing else you need I think we'll finish up our work for the night."
Was what Tarin was saying now, the fact that he had been out here talking to this girl, that upsetting? Whether it was or not, Lee felt herself growing more upset with the situation. And Tarin was getting more frustrated, she could tell by his sigh.
He always seemed to be frustrated these days, though. Even though he said he'd wait forever for her to be ready, though he said that everything would go at her pace and he was fine with that, he seemed to be frustrated whenever she wasn't actually touching him. Really, how was that going at her pace? It was just a more passive way of pushing her.
When Lee turned her head to look at Tarin, she was just in time to see his eye roll at her comment about the cleaning. "What?" She exclaimed. "What am I supposed to do? You don't like me cleaning everything up myself. Get pissed at me half the time when I do. So what else am I supposed to do?"
"Sounds to me like he likes to piss you off. I bet he even curses at you under his breath." Syn was far from ending her fun. The couple's attitudes were getting more and more serious. One might even say that they were getting angry.

Now she was getting mad at him, that made a whole lot of sense. After acting like an overprotective mother for the past several minutes, Lee had decided to fixate on the cleaning. This was starting to get incredibly ridiculous.
"You're supposed to stand outside in the middle of the night and yell at me for trying to make it so you don't have to do so much work." Tarin said, his voice getting more quiet instead of raising. Then the other woman spoke again and Tarin's head whipped towards her.
"And who the hell do you think you are? Regardless of what else is going on, this is none of your business. Neither of us asked for your input, so to put it frankly, butt out."
Tarin turned back to Lee, trying to figure out where they'd gone from the easy rapport they'd had in the shop to fighting like angry cats and dogs in the alleyway out back. "I'm not entirely sure this is the best place to have this conversation."
Lee's brow furrowed in anger and confusion when she heard the young woman open her mouth to speak again. Tarin cursing her under his breath? Yes, he could and did piss her off at times, that was one things she wouldn't settle for. There were already many reasons some people thought she should leave him because of, but none of those reasons were within Tarin's control; cursing her under his breath was within his power to control, and Lee wouldn't tolerate that.
But then Tarin was turning back toward her, saying he didn't think this was the place to be having the conversation that had developed. "No?" Lee questioned. "Why? Can't we have any conversations without being locked up inside with no one else around to overhear us? Or are you worried other women will hear, realize your taken, and stop throwing themselves at you? Cause we both know you never make the first move, it's always them." Yes, that was sarcasm, yes that was bitterness and anger. But he had also been out here, alone, with an attractive younger woman for no apparent reason.
Oh this was becoming delightfully beautiful to Syn's eyes and ears. She continued to flood the area with her power. Hopefully she could fuel their anger to a breaking point. "Since you're bringing it out into the open it's my business now." Syn turned to the other woman. "You mean he keeps you confined?" A very practiced but still fake look of surprise appeared on the girls face. "You mean he has other females trying to be with him? Are you sure he doesn't provoke them?"
