The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Garrett had returned from the City and Tarin's shop motivated. When he had first arrived, he had felt the healing powers of the DocProf and was amazed by it. Yet, due to his time in the Camps, the idea of volunteering to enter any type of medical facility was taboo. But these were auspicious times. So many things had happened of late that were so good, he had hoped this would be to. He dropped the clothes and items off in his room and locked the door, heading toward the Infirmary.
As he approached the entryway, he heard some shuffling inside. He peeked around the door, hoping for a peek, but instead found himself looking right into the eyes of the DocProf. "[white]Well, hello again.[/white]" said the DocProf. "[white]I wondered if you might end up stopping by.[/white]" He was smiling as he looked at some charts in his hand. He then motioned for Garrett to enter.
Garrett was sure of himself but his body was still a little hesitant. He managed to step into the room. It seemed to be mostly in order, just some paint and a bit of sweeping and filing and all would be normal. "Yes, I wondered if I might be able to do something about the seizures I have, with your help."
The DocProf seemed to grin a bit."[white]With the things I have seen go on, anything is possible. Perhaps you could change into a gown and wait in room one.[/white]" He handed Garrett a green, folded paper gown and pointed to the room on the left.
Garrett had changed into the gown and put his clothes and shoes in a tidy stack on a chair in the room. It looked like every other room he had been in so many times before. The only difference was the lack of outdated magazines and health pamphlets. There was a knock on the door to which he replied, " I'm all dressed." The DocProf then came in to the room with a chart. So here comes the questionnaire., he thought to himself. [white]"So, I guess you are out of medication? Usually seizures can be managed with a prescription. I could get that updated for you if you like.[/white]" Garrett smiled and replied,"Well, my mutation allows me to give others seizures and pain. I assume it does other things, but I spent alot of time unconscious in hospitals, so I never had an opportunity like I do now to try to do something about it. I read up on the nervous system a bit and there are many things I could probably do, given time." The DocProf's eyes lit up, worrying Garrett. It was the same look of excitement that many doctors had before. Like he was a new toy. The DocProf could obviously see the worry, saying"[white]No worries, son. I have no intention of hurting you. It's the farthest thing from my mind.[/white]"
He believed the doctor. Even with his past, he found this particular doctor to be very reassuring. Whether it was his kind eyes, his bedside manner, or the fact that he himself was a mutant, it was certainly a welcome change from the ones he was used to. After the usual questions of blood type, sicknesses, medical history, the DocProf put the chart down and said,"[white]OK, so, when was the initial seizure?[/white]" Garrett had to think back. So many. "The first would have been when I was 12 or 13. I'm not sure which." To this, the DocProf answered, "[white]It must've been the initial manifestation of your mutation when you experienced puberty.[/white]" The DocProf nodded to himself."[white]Well, let's take a look. Would you mind lying down on your stomach? I am going to try to find what I can through your spinal cord.[/white]"
Lying on his stomach, his back exposed to the DocProf, Garrett thought about how things had changed so much for him for the positive. He felt the doctor's hands on his spine, his fingers running over the vertebrae. There was a peculiar sensation, as if his nerves were iron filings and a magnet was running over them, they stood at attention as his fingers passed over, then relaxed as they passed. [white]"Alright, I am going to try to find the initial manifestation now. Let me know if there is a problem or if I need to stop, alright?"[/white]
Garrett nodded and put his head down on his arm, blocking the light out. He inhaled and exhaled in a slow fashion. Inhaling through his left nostril, exhaling through his right, stimulating the Ida and Pingala neural routes. He felt the doctor's hands flat on his spine. He was concentrating and focusing , trying to ensure that he didn't activate his powers on the man. There was a warm sensation in the middle of his back, spreading at first over his spine and then all through his body. It was such a gentle feeling, so unlike the violence of his usual activity. He visualized the golden light of the mutant's powers coursing through him, adding to his own.
The warmth stopped and he heard the DocProf say,[white]"Alright, you can sit up now, my friend."[/white] As Garrett leisurely rolled over and sat up, he noticed the DocProf's eyes were misting a bit. "Are you okay?", he asked. The DocProf dabbed his eyes and nodded. [white]"Yes, yes. You have alot of pain and bad memories in there. I hope I did what was necessary. I'd hate to have to relive that.[/white]" He put his hand on Garrett's shoulder. [white] Go ahead and get dressed, we'll talk out in the main room."[/white]
After he got dressed, he met with the DocProf out in the main room of the Infirmary.[white]"I think we may have had some success. I would be careful though, to make sure you avoid triggers that caused the seizures before. Take your time with it. And definitely follow up with me over time, so we can check on your progress."[/white]Garrett listened and nodded. He was only beginning to set in. Here he was, talking to a doctor as if it were some outpatient procedure. But he might NEVER have a seizure again. His smile began to widen on its own. He wanted to hug the man again, but maybe he would leave the hugs to once a week.
He extended his hand to shake the DocProf's in gratitude. The DocProf took it and gave it a good squeeze. "Thank you so much, Sir. I really appreciate it. I would definitely enjoy returning, perhaps we could find other things I can do or find ways I can help you here." The DocProf smiled and nodded, adding,[white]"Yes, yes. Well, let's leave the power training to the other teachers. Perhaps you should seek out Neena and practice in the Danger Room. But if we can find anything else for you here we will. If you don't mind though, I have alot of work to catch up on since many files were destroyed."[/white]
Garrett nodded and chuckled as he was turning to go. Yes, I do tend to run off at the mouth when I get excited. It had been a long, long time since he had felt so much positivity and good will, though. He was glad he had come to the Mansion. The people, the training, the food, the good naturedness of it all, and of course, Ghost. He walked back to his room with a spring in his step. No time like the present to get those clothes sorted and get his room straightened out. Another good day.
