The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hades took the dark glance from Specter easily, it had no effect on Hades. He was slightly interested in the kid. Then the shop really began to get crowded. The Kid and Slade Hades did not mind as much, but who was this new kid. Inwardly Hades frowned at Iesland, now if there was one person to draw attention to the group it was him, but well if he liked to part with information about himself Hades had no qualms.
Of the policemen behind then, Hades had absolutely no fear, for one he looked human, secondly they did not stand a chance against him, thirdly if he wanted to disappear he could, literally, and fourthly, well Slade was on his side and none of the other mutants who had entered could cause him much trouble even if they were stupid enough to gang up on him. He mused to himself, for one four arms did look like he could be quick, and he may have fast reflexes, but that was ok, if Hades phased all that was needed was for four arms to touch him and he would go down, same for all of the other people, one touch of his poison and they would be incapacitated at the very least and would be lucky to escape with their lives, and none of them really looked or acted like they had been alive for half the time Hades had been or undergone the sort of training that he had, however Specter was rather toned and Iesland was obviously strong. This analysis took less than a second.
Aloud Hades said, “I’ll join Slade on that one, my name is Hades, and you are?” He offered his hand also to Iesland and looked inquiringly at the girl.
She hated this part - when the boys all looked each other up and down and mentally decided they could or couldn't kick each other's butts. She supposed it was one of the evils men bore as a result of testosterone... assuming metallic entities had testosterone. She remained mouse-like and jumpy. Ghost was sure they could all hand her butt to her, incorporeal body or not.
"And who are you lady? You in with this guy?" the metal man, Slade, was the first to address her directly, though the bald one did afford her some questionable looks as he shook one of Iesland's many hands.
"Muh... Mr. Slade, it's nice to meet you." She dipped her head in a slight nod/bow. There was no way she would be shaking any of their hands until they began to feel less threatening. Also she wouldn't sit down until she decided that she wouldn't have to run away. "Aiisurandu-san and I just met. You may call me Ghost." She went back to fidgeting with her full cup of coffee. She didn't know what to do wth the vile stuff, but she probably wasn't going to drink it.
((OOC - technically it's Iesland's turn. I hope you don't mind me going ahead and posting. I'm just about to embark on a lengthy road trip, and i didn't want to have to make you guys wait until i arrived at my destination. happy posting.))

Iesland was feeling a bit twitchy. It was not going as well as he had hoped when he first went over to the table. Ghost was very obviously uncomfortable, and both Hades and Slade had an ugly glint in their eyes that probably meant the realized that both he and Ghost would not even be a bug on the windsheild to them if they got going in a fight. Specter looked like he wanted to crawl into a corner and disappear, and Iesland himself wanted to inch away a bit.
At the same time, however, Iesland felt a very intense urge to start something, right then and there, and it was with great difficulty that he restrained himself. He took a huge gulp of his coffee, and with the surge of energy it brought him, managed to write "Well, if this isn't a right gathering of freaks, eh? I'm pretty surprised that no-one has tried to instigate anything against us yet. Tensions are still high after the registration acts, Ill bet. Even those policemen over there could want to start shooting at us right now. Good thing for them they don't. I figure it this way, if the only way to be left alone is to be feared, then bring on the horror music!" in a bit over two seconds.
What Iesland wrote was true, but he felt that way only as a last resort. Which the times had forced upon them all.
As Iesland wrote out his next comment to the group Specter took a mental survey of their suroundings. Cops free hands by gun holsters, emeploy twitching as she cleaned off a table, buisness man pretending to read a paper. This place was a time bomb waiting to go off, and his fellow mutants wheren't helping matters. With Ghost looking like a scared mouse she wasn't inspiring any confidence. Ieslands arms kept flexing nervously. Hades continued to look cool and proffesional, but that didn't exactly help things. Slade was a giant robotic car Specter susupected that to a human it was impossible for Slade not to look scary. Now Specter was always one for a good brawls, but he didn't feel that this was the time or place. There was nothing to be gained, nothing to be proven from starting something here. Specter leaned back in his chair downing the last of his cooling coffee. "It is nice day, maybe we go for walk," Specter glanced at Slade. "or drive. Go some place less crowded where better to discuss opionion." Specter then looked over to Hades to back him up. After all it was his "opionion" that Specter was most intrested in learning more about.
Slade sighed, this chick was spooked beyond belief... He didn't want to antagonise the little thing. "Hey ghost, it's a pleasure to meet you, and don't worry my bark is worse than my bite." Slade smiled softly. That probably wasn't true but it didn't matter as long as she believed it. If she believed it.
The four armed man seemed to be writing another story... Slade frowned and wished this guy would talk. The girl still seemed terrified and the man named specter was downing his brew. As Slade read the note any notion about talking to this 'Iesland' disappeared. He heard Specter say something about leaving, maybe he had a point. Slade stood, rising to his full height of 6'8", he looked carefully down at the voiceless man.
"As little confidence you may have in your own... uh, powers..." Slade growled, "I would appreciate it if you did not refer to our kind as freaks. I think I'll pay up here..." Slade made to step towards the service till, this moved him directly between the four armed man and the russian boy. Hades was still standing behind him reading the note.

“I’ll second that” said Hades in reply to Specter’s comment and rose smoothly to his full height as well and ushered the other people to the door always putting himself between the guards and the others. To Slade’s comment he merely nodded his head slightly. Hades abstractly wondered if Iesland was trying to get the rest of the group annoyed at him.

Iesland rose with everyone else, dissapointed and confused with their reaction to his comments. He had meant it as a joke, but it was obviously not welcome so soon after the registration act. With Slade, Hades, and Specter leaving, the cops slowly inching their guns out of their holsters, and Ghost hovering behind him like a frightened and cornered animal, Iesland wisely decided it was time to leave.
"Come on, Ghost, lets get out of here." Iesland wrote as he walked towards the door, taking his coffee with him. "Throw that stuff away, if you don't like it."
Walking down the street at a pace that would almost seem like running to those not accustomed to his bursts of restless energy, Iesland was mentally kicking himself in the face. Not only had he ruined the trip to the coffee shop for himself, but he had also wasted Ghost's time. Well, he guessed that was his lot in life then. 'I just wish I knew what purpose God has for me.' Iesland thought to himself.
Well, that had gone smoothly. Honestly, if Ghost had known Iesland better when she had read his note, she would have taken the pad of paper and smacked him on the head with it. As she was trying to be polite and not die at the time, she had let him send out a note that not only was in poor taste, but it was enough to offend the other party. Ghost ditched her cup of coffee and ran out after the other group. She stopped at the sidewalk outside of the coffee house.
"Please don't hold it against him." She shouted after the group and bowed formally, though not on the ground. The last thing she wanted was a group of miffed mutants with her face and Iesland's face branded into their minds as moronic mutants who should be put out of their misery. "The registration was a difficult time for those of us who were imprisoned and those who remained in hiding. She wasn't sure if anyone was listening anymore, but she wanted to finish explaining anyway. "Some are just now learning what it is like to meet others like ourselves." She bowed again on behalf of Iesland's and even her own behavior before stepping back into the coffee shop.
She could feel their eyes on her, but she didn't dare look at their faces. She couldn't imagine what expression they might be wearing. Disgust? Loathing? Surprise? Ghost gathered up her coffee and lingered by the cashier's desk until the one Iesland had spoken with earlier, Alice was it?, came to help her.
"Is there a way to make this drinkable?" Alice blinked and looked at the coffee cup that Ghost was sliding toward her across the counter. "Iesland's brew?" She laughed and it was a natural sound that began to ease Ghost's tensions. "I don't think this one can be saved, but I can make you something else if you like?" "I-I'm not a big coffee drinker." Ghost admitted. "We have hot cocoa and teas too... for you non-coffee types." She teased. "Why..." Ghost swallowed keeping her voice low. "Why're you being so nice to me?" Alice didn't hesitate at all, "Be cause you're a customer." She seemed to eyeball some of the people still in the coffee shop before busying herself behind the counter for a moment. She pushed a fresh, steaming cup into Ghost's hand. "He left, you know." Ghost nodded and took a sip of the unknown - it was hot chocolate, sweet and smooth and nothing like the vile liquid that Iesland drank. "Thanks." and she meant it whole heartedly.
Ghost hadn't seen him leave, but she hadn't seen Iesland since she came back into the coffee shop either. She wasn't sure if she wanted to follow him. He had mentioned that he wanted people to fear him... like these people were on a different level than he was or that the lives of these people meant nothing to him. She wasn't entirely sure she wanted to follow him back to the Mandir, but she would feel guilty if she just left and went home.
Ghost pulled one of the free newspapers from the stack and made her way to a seat by the window by herself. She would wait for a while to see if he came back. The humans seemed to relax now that there was only one mutant among them. She supposed that it was easy for them to imagine her normal if they wanted. She opened the paper and waited.

As Iesland walked down the street, his eyes looking at the ground, he remembered a shortcut down a back alley that he sometimes took. It wasn't very safe, but that was no problem for him. He pulled out his pad of paper and turned around to write something down for Ghost, but no one was there. She hadn't come.
Iesland paused for a second, and then just sat down on a bench. He had just met her and all, its not like they knew eachother, but she was the first time he had even really tried to be friends with another mutant, and it had gone miserably. He didn't really care about Slade or the others, as Slade was obviously a radical. The way he hissed in Iesland's ear betrayed that fact.
Well, there were two possibilities: Either she left the coffee shop when he did, and went some other direction, or she stayed. If she stayed, Iesland had a chance of apologizing. It was at least worth a shot. This decided, Iesland stood up from the bench and walked back to the shop. Looking in through the windows, he couldn't see her, but that meant nothing. To find out if she was still there he would have to go back inside. He really hoped the other mutants had stayed away.
Walking into the shop, Iesland went up the counter, and ordered another coffee, as he had drunk his other one. While waiting for his coffee, Iesland slowly turned in a circle, his eyes scanning quickly over everyone in the shop. But he didn't see her. She did leave. No chance to apologize now. When his coffee was ready, Iesland grabbed it and began to slowly walk towards the door. If he could talk, he would be cussing himself out under his breath, and it was clearly evident on his face.
ooc - arg posting order gone! and i? a radical? heh heh...
ic - Slade turned as Ghost's voice sailed over to them. She was apologising... poor kid she had no need! As she bowed a second time Slade replied in what he assumed was a reassuring tone. "Hey gal it aint your responsibility to apologise for nobody. You're cool by me be sure of that."
The girl was running back inside before he had even finished. Had he been an aged man he probably would have referred to her as a poor lamb... Slade was glad he wasn't old. He turned back to the man named Specter and his associate, Hades. Their conversation had been cut short and Slade wanted to finish it. "So, what now guys? We gonna continue this somewhere else?"
As Slade said this he saw the four armed man march back into the cafe. He wondered whether this guy was after that girl again... They seemed to be friends but she seemed a bit intimidated by... well... everything. "Ah sh*t." Slade murmured under his breath, he really hoped that lass was ok on her own.
Specter strolled out of the coffee shop as the others got up to leave. Well mission accomplised atlest. With the mutants leaving he could almost fell the tention in the shop breaking as the regular humans went back to their lives. Specter walked along with Slade and Hades for a few feet before they heard Ghost apologizing for Iseland's behavor. Maybe there was some hope for that girl yet if she just wasn't so skittish. However that wasn't his problem now so he decided to just let it drop. Thinking about what he was gonna do next Specter didn't pay much attention when Slade started asking if they wanted to continue. He just stood there for the moment staring off into space. Let the others decide what to do. After all the day was early, and he didn't really have any plans anyhow. Sure he wanted to learn more about who this Hades person really was, but as big as this city was Specter felt that if he missed his chance now it wouldn't be the his last. Specter shruged and began to walk aimlessly if the other two wanted to follow it was tier choose.

Hades watched as the group slowly began to naturally break apart, it was not yet night and he had nothing big on, besides this Specter kind of interested him slightly. From the way he had reacted back then Hade’s above human attributes began to come into play. His reasoning and deduction went thus. Spector, Russian accent, reasons for coming from Russia unknown, he was nit afraid to kill and indeed Hades got the feeling that he had killed before, and yet he was not a standard human professional killer. Hades interest in him was mere curiousity. The whole train of thought took less than a second and to an observer no one could tell that he had just mentally compiled an information list.
He kept pace beside Spector, keeping enough distance between them as not to invade his personal space, but letting him know that Hades was there. Hades we comfortable with the silence, he waited and walked.
ooc - i assume the new posting order is between myself, specter and hades as one group. iesland and ghost in another posting order yeah?
ic - Slade turned away from the cafe, he figured it wasn't his business what relations ghost and the strange mutant held. He himself was feeling a bit lethargic, it was one of the downsides to consuming non-fuel based substances.
He saw Hades following Specter and followed suit. "So guys where to now? I say we find a place to sit 'n' chill no?" This specter interested him, he was young but it was worth checking him out. He might turn out to be useful...
Hades and Slade followed Specter as if they had found a new toy they wanted to put through it's paces. Normaly this wouldn't have bothered Specter at all he would have loved to test his skills agenst them. However at that moment all Specter wanted to do was clear his head. After all he was still getting use to the world around him, and he wanted to be at his best when he faced Hades. "I think maybe I go alone for now, yes? I have place not far from here, we shall meet again." Specter didn't want to tell ether of them that he stayed at the mutant school, who knows what someone like Hades would be able to do with that type of information. Besides he doubted it was going to be hard to spot a walking car going down boardwalk.
occ-well I'm gonna move on to a new thread if ether of you want Specter to interact any farther, i.e. if you wanted to give him a phone number or something. I give permission for you to write him excepting.
