The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"You make a fair point...as almost always." Tarin said, smiling sweetly at Lee as she pointed out that he wakes up with more energy than she does. "but for at least most of the time I'd be here with you, so that shouldn't be too much of a worry. The last time we hadn't started the experiment yet..."
What he said was true, and though he'd do exactly what Lee asked, Tarin didn't want her to miss out on sleep simply because she was forgetting something like this. "I'm not trying to be argumentative," he added, just to make sure she understood his intentions, "Just wanted to make sure you remembered that."
Tarin half-expected himself to get hit after his comment to Lee about the nurse outfit. Personally he thought it was a marvelous idea, the idea of her in that little starched white top with that little starched white skirt with her legs little linen cap on her head....maybe some long white boots in contrast to the black ones she usually wore...Tarin completely missed what Lee said after that and he had to wrack his brain to pull up her voice and what she said, and he chuckled.
"Mmmm, most likely it would..." he said, clearing his throat when his voice came out a little more strangled and husky than he'd intended, feeling slightly more pervy than usual. Here they were reconciling things after what was probably the most horrible argument of their lives together and all he could do was perv on thoughts of Lee in a nurses outfit.
Tarin had heard of people who fought simply so they could have make-up sex, he didn't know how well that would go over though, or how open to the idea Lee would be. While he was pretty much always in at least a slightly pervy mood and therefore pretty much always game, Lee...and women in general usually weren't.
So, Tarin stopped the slow paths his fingertips had started making up and down Lee's back after his arms had fully wrapped around her at some point. It was going to be a long night.
Lee nodded against Tarin's shoulder as he pointed out that the last time, the only time, she had actually passed out from exhaustion, she had been terrified of the thought of spending any time near Tarin while sleeping.
"I know you're not," Lee told Tarin softly, though with a slight frown. "But like I said, I'll go keep going back to sleep if I need to, as long as you make sure to let me sleep for no more than 8 hours at a time."
Lee blinked into the darkness when she heard the tone of Tarin's voice as he answered her comment about the nurse's outfit not being a very good idea. Especially with how delayed that husky comment was. "Yeah, definitely not a good idea, I'd say," Lee replied, a smile growing on her face.
But then they were quiet, and were simply laying there in comfortable silence. Sighing contentedly, Lee snuggled into Tarin's shoulder more as she let her eyes slip closed.
She wasn't sure how long they lay there, but despite the energy she was still feeling from days earlier, and the energy that was flowing into her even through their clothing, Lee felt her mind starting to cloud, if not with sleep, at least weariness, tiredness.
And then, without even realizing it, after having been awake for far too long, in the comfort of Tarin's arms, Lee slowly drifted to sleep, though in reality it was more like passing out.

"Every eight hours, you've got it." Tarin said as Lee reiterated for the second time that she wanted to be woken up every eight hours. It really was probably for the best, she'd been so disoriented the last time. Whatever Lee wanted on this, it was afterall, her own body.
Lee pointed out again that the nurse outfit probably wasn't a good idea. Tarin disagreed, it simply wasn't a good idea if Lee planned on wearing it for an extended amount of time in his presense. It was definitely one of those outfits where...as Tarin had heard ill advised men in bars say, 'It would look better on the floor...'
Thoughts like those were not helping Tarin's situation, and even if they hadn't fought all day, Lee was so exhausted from the last merge and resulting arguments that the thoughts of the nature Tarin was having were absolutely not a good thing.
That was most defnitely confirmed when after a few moments of comfortable silence, Lee's breathing evened out and her body relaxed in a way that it never really did when they were touching and she was awake.
Tarin couldn't help but sigh a little bit, out of mixed relief and frustration. It was aweful when Lee got to this point of exhaustion, but at the same time, she was finally sleeping. Looking over her shoulder at the alarm clock on the opposite nightstand, making a mental note of when 8 hours from this point was and settled in to sleep, wondering if his dreams would be as vivid as his daydreams a couple moments ago had been.
