The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I bet you were a little hell raiser when you were young." <You have no idea.> He grinned to himself and wondered if he should answer her truthfully. After a moment, he decided agianst it, "Let's just say, with the powers I have...you do things other kids wouldn't even dare do." He turned to her. "You're lucky though, your parents expected something of you. Mine didn't care when I smoked. Actually, I don't know if it ever registered with them." That brought a smile to his face. "So you smoke?"

Nicki burst out laughing as Kaz brought up the whole smoking thing. "Are you kidding me?" Nicki chuckled. "I coughed for minutes. I was just trying to be cool you know? It was freshman year in high school and I had a reputation for being a bit of a goody-goody so I was trying to break it. It didn't work very well" Nicki chuckled.
Nicki smiled as Kaz explained his youth; she liked hearing about people's pasts and Kaz seemed to have an interesting one. "Okay, since you brought it up, what's your power?"

Kaz found it funny how the goody-goody people would try and be 'cool'. Trying to be cool is what got those ten boys killed. "Sorry to hear that Nicki. I was going to invite you up to the roof and have a smoke with me. Though I understand about the 'cool' thing. I saw a lot of people try and do it. Myself, never did, never cared." Shrugging. "Being cool is, all a point of view."
She asked what his power was, for which, he chuckled. "EVERY physical attribute is greatly enhanced. Beyond human capasity." That was the simplest answer he could give her. "What about you?"

"Yeah, I know it's lame. I'm over that whole fitting in thing now but..like I said..small town...when you're an outcast you are a *major* outcast" Nicki chuckled a little. "What's funny is I actually really like the smell of smoke so I always used to go with people when they were on a smoke break"
"Every physical attribute is enhanced? Sheesh...that's really cool" Nicki smiled happily, thinking about all the things Kaz could do. "Me? I absorb knowledge and information from sources. Books, computers, people...that kind of stuff" Nicki smiled.

"Hmm...really? Well, maybe we will be able to enjoy a chat on the roof sometime." He smiled at her. "Absorb knowledge huh. That's pretty cool. Wish I could do that about now." Looking down at the books he had set down. "Now that I think about it, what brings you to the library?

"I'd like that Kaz," Nicki smiled, blushing only the tiniest bit. "I'm here cause I'm a total nerd and love books" Nicki smiled brightly, looking around at all the stacks. "I mean...can't you just feel it? All the information? The knowledge just sitting in these books waiting to be taken in by someone? It's practically electric..." Nicki smiled, trailing off a little.
She looked over at Kaz. His face was blank. "Uh, sorry. Sometimes I get a little a head of myself when it comes to books. Um...what are you here to get?"

He smiled when she did. Listening to her reason for being at the library. She was so lively about it. Very descriptive. Kaz could tell she really loved books. She was a bookworm. With that thought, he laughed a bit. "No worries girlie. It's good to have a passion. I'm here to get information as well. More spacificly, swordsmithing." Setting hs hand on his hip where a sheath would hang. "You love books. I love all bladed things, swords and daggers above all. I'd love to be able to make my own."

Nicki smiled, glad she didn't come off like too much of a nerd with her rant about the written word. Nicki took one of the books from Kaz's hand, hoping she could focus her powers enough.
She was thrilled she could feel her eyelids twitching a tiny bit. Within moments her head was filled with a large amount of knowledge on swordsmithing: the best metal for the best impact, the heat it should be to make the blade it's sharpest, the proper cleansing and care of it.
"Interesting craft. I bet you could make it rather easily if you got the proper materials" Nicki shrugged a bit, opening the pages to look at some of the examples.

Kaz watched as Nicki take the swordsmith book, his eyebrow raised as her eyes twitched under her eyelids. "Interesting craft." He was deffinantly impressed. "I hadn't even looked in them yet," Laughing a bit. "I'm not much for books myself. I read when I have to." Picking up the book with descriptions of each type of blade, he flipped through it till he found what he was looking for. Handing it to Nicki, "Ever heard of the Demaskus blade?" Pausing for a moment, "It's said to be the best of all. Strongest steel, ridgid, but still flexible so it won't snap under too much stress. The blade, so sharp it could easily slice through a steel beem with ease." He turned an looked over the balcony, "It wasn't nessisarily the mettal used, but the technique, to make it, which made it the best. For some reason, that technique was lost centuries ago. No one actually knows where it came from, or how it came to be or how it was lost. People have claimed to have demaskus swords in museums. When checked, the technique and composition of the blade is close, but not quite exact. I wish I could make it." Looking back at Nicki, he smiled, "Beyond that, I'd love to make my own custom blades, just for the hell of it."

Nicki smiled as Kaz told her the story. Yes, the lore had been in the book so she had known all of it before Kaz started telling her, but it was really the storyteller that made the store great. And Kaz had a passion for it and that was amazing to listen to.
"I think you'd probably be good at it. You definitely have the heart for it" Nicki smiled brightly, handing the book back to Kaz.

"Thanks." He smiled at her for her compliment. Changing the subject, "Was there something you were looking for spacificly?" He began to walk away from the railing. "I'd be glad to help you look." Picking up his books, he held out his hand for hers.

Nicki smiled, taking Kaz's hand as she followed him.
"Well, I walked in feeling like it was a science and technology kind of day but now I'm more in the mood for a classic from the literature section. I bet we could even find something you'd like in there Sir Kaz" Nicki smiled again, winking at him.

"Classic literature huh? Lets take a look then. Um...." Smiling sheepishly, "Now, the only problem is to find it." Kaz didn't really know his way around this library, let alone ANY library. "If you think you can find something for me, go ahead. I'll trust ya." Though Kaz was leading the two, he didn't do a very good job. Weaving in and out of rows on the balcony. Back and forth across it. Then down one set of stairs, through the book cases, accross the room, and up the opposite stairs. "These places should have big flashing lights saying where things are." Sighing, he led them to the couches and chairs on the first floor. Plopping down in one, his arms hung off the sides and his head over the back of the the chair. If his mouth wasn't already partly open from the angle his head was at, his jaw would have dropped. Lifting his hand, he pointed behind the chair at the wall under the balcony at a small sign above the shelves: Classic Literature. He laughed, which came out oddly because of the angle of his neck, while he spoke, "I hate these places."

Nicki smiled, letting Kaz drag her around even though she was very aware of where they should be headed off it; it was just more fun this way. Nicki suppressed her giggles, watching Kaz search before he found it...right in front of his nose.
"See, you got us here...you just didn't know it..." Nicki smiled, looking over the books in front of her, trying to think of something Kaz might like. "How are you with mythology?" Nicki asked, turning towards Kaz. "You know...swords, killing, general carnage and death?"

Kaz was leaning back in the chair watching Nicki look at the book shelf. Lifting the chair up, he began to rock back and forth, pivoting on the back two legs. His head was still leaning over the back of the chair. "Mythology? I suppose I'm alright with it. I know about as much as the average school slacker." "...swords, killing, general carnage and death?" Kaz's chair fell backwards, landing hard, he rolled over his head, curled his legs under him instictivly, then flopped onto his back. When he stopped moving the was looking right up at Nicki. <Damn she's blunt. I shouldn't let her near my heat, don't need her getting any unneeded knowledge. "Umm...I'm, rather comfterble with those subjects." He let out a small forced cough as he lay there. "I can't say I expected such a blunt question about those things to come from you."
