The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Wow. Ted had been sent to the lobby to meet someone; Miss Tipper neglected to mention who. He was a little anxious, until he reminded himself that it's not like he was being sent to meet animal control. He reached the lobby and sat down in one of the chairs. It was a comfy chair. He quite liked it. He had waited for ten minutes, getting a little more anxious, when the lobby doors opened. Then a figure that he had always admired, and never expected to meet, rolled in. Professor Charles Xavier, founder of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and original leader of the X-Men. Wow.
Charles had received the call from Delilah a few days before. The boy seemed to be an interesting case. From what he had heard there seemed to be one of two possibilities. Either there was a second personality, the personality of the beast, which came forth when he transformed. Or his conscious mind was locked away when he transformed leaving him only with his base level instincts. He would have to determine which it was before he could begin to treat.
Charles gave the boy a warm smile as he entered the mansion and went towards the boy and extended his hand. “Greeting’s Ted,” he said, “I am Professor Charles Xavier. Miss Tripper has informed me of the difficulty of your mutation and I am here to see if I can help you gain control of your alternate form.”
It took a couple of seconds for it to click. Xavier was the guy he was told to see? This was unexpected. Ted then realized that he hadn't moved since Xavier entered the room. "Oh, wow, um, hi, professor." It took Ted a couple more seconds to get his speech under control. Then a couple more to make his hand move. He stood up as he shook Xavier's hand, and then became suddenly unsure what to do. "Oh, wow, um, thanks, professor. I knew I had been told to meet someone, but I hadn't been told who or why." Ted was very flustered, this was so unexpected. He scratched the back of his head uselessly. Xavier? Wow. Very little else was happening in his mind, other than the word wow. Which was currently running in circles. Circles that got gradually smaller and smaller...
Charles gave Ted a reassuring smile. It seemed his reputation had preceded him and left the boy a little star struck. “That’s quite alright. If you’d like to come with me we’ll find somewhere where we can start.”
Manipulating the joystick on his wheelchair Charles headed into the mansion. After searching with his mind he quickly found an unoccupied room. Entering the empty room he motioned for Ted to take a seat.
“Now Ted, to start with I will need to do a scan of your mind,” he explained, “so I can determine exactly what the problem is. Once I know what we’re dealing with I can begin to help.”

Ted gave a releived grin as he followed the professor down the hall. "Great, this is the whole reason why I came here." He went in the room after Xavier, and took the seat offered. At Xavier's mention of a mind scan, Ted looked a little unsure. "How much of my mind are we takling about here? You're not going to delve into my privacy, are you?" Ted didn't really have much to hide, but it still made him a little unsure.
“I will be scanning for an alternate personality,” Charles explained, “I need to determine whether it is an alternate personality that takes over when you transform of whether your conscious mind is locked away leaving you with only base instincts. I shouldn’t need to delve into you memories, but I may stumble across some things. If you don’t want to proceed then we won’t, but I’m doing this to help you. You have my word that I won’t divulge anything that I discover and we can stop at any time if you are feeling uncomfortable.”

Ted nodded. "No, that's fine, I was just a little concerned." Ted trusted the professor; there were few who didn't. "Go ahead, delve away." Ted had no idea what to expect. He knew about psychics, but he had never a face to face confrontation with one that he knew of, and had never had one use their powers on him. It was an entirely new experience for him.
Charles gave Ted a reassuring smile as he held his hands to either side of Ted’s head, about an inch away. “Just try to relax,” he advised, before closing his eyes and delving into Ted’s mind. On first glance it was no different from any other teenage boy’s mind, but there could quite easily be something lurking, something dark and angry. Proceeding with caution he began his scan.
After ten minutes he removed his hands and opened his eyes. “Well Ted,” he said with a smile, “I can now safely assure you that there is no beast personality lurking anywhere in your mind. That means that when you transform you conscious mind is locked away, protected by psychic barriers. Now to break the barriers we must first cause your mind to put them up, and to do that you’ll have to transform.”
“Now here is not exactly an appropriate place,” he said indicating the rather fragile looking room, “So if you’ll follow me we’ll find somewhere we can restrain your other form while we work on breaking those barriers.” Manipulating the joystick Professor Xavier headed towards the infirmary.
Ted nodded, and closed his eyes as he let himself relax. His muscles lost all their tension as he just waited. He fancied that he could feel where the Professor was in his mind, though whether he actually could or whether it was his imagination, he wasn't sure.
After what seemed an hour of peacefulness, though looking at the clock on the wall Ted realised it was actually only ten minutes, Ted opened his eyes as he felt the Professor leave his mind. Well, he thought he felt it. Either way, it seemed that the Professor had finished, as he took his hands away. Ted gave a sigh of relief that there wasn't an alternate personality locked inside of him, and that the Professor seemed to already know what was going on. Ted was thankful that they seemed to have gotten so far already, but when the Professor said that they had to make him transform, he was less than eager.
Ted was glad that the professor had not made him transform there, as that could only have ended badly. ed assumed that the Professor was taking him to the danger room,, but then they headed to the infirmary instead. Confused, Ted followed him in.
Once in the infirmary Charles turned to face Ted. “This table her has sufficiently strong restraints to keep you pinned despite the power of your alternate form” he explained, “Once you are in place with the restraints on I will psychicly trigger your transformation. Then while you are restrained I will work with you to break don the psychic barriers that you mind puts in place around your conscious mind.”
“This will not be a pleasant experience, and will take a lot of work from both of us. But I believe that I can restore your conscious mind to control even in your alternate form. If you are still willing to, let us proceed.”
Ted nodded. "Cool, I suppose it'll be easier if I'm not running around like a lunatic." Ted wasn't too pleased at the idea of a non-pleasant experiance, but it would be worth it. "Sure, what ever it takes." Ted lay down on the bed, and tried to get the restraints to work. Turns out, restraining yourself can actually be pretty hard.
Charles helped Ted lock the restraints in place. When that was done he came and placed a hand either side of the boy’s head and closed his eyes. Focusing once more he delved back into the boy’s mind. Finding the right spot he simulated a shooting pain, causing Ted to transform.
He wasn’t concerned with his external transformation however. What did interest him was the change in the boys mind. What had moments before been the usual landscape of a persons mind, with all the unique features, suddenly became a barren wasteland. He looked around, trying to find something, anything, but there was nothing in sight.
With nothing in sight his psychic form began to roam around Ted’s now empty mind. There was nothing save the basic instincts that all people possess. He could find no sense of self, no sense of purpose, just a basic need to survive, nothing more. Finally, after spending almost an hour wandering this desolate place he spotted something, off in the distance.
It was simply a speck on the horizon, but this was the first time anything had appeared on the horizon since Ted had transformed. Charles headed towards the speck. As he got closer he could begin to make out what it was. A cage, with Ted’s consciousness trapped inside.
Having at last found the boy’s conscious mind he could now begin to free it. Reaching the cage he called out to Ted, “Ted, it’s Professor Xavier. I’ve found you at last. These psychic barriers that are holding you in place are very strong, but together we can break them. Grab the bars with me and focus on bending them, on getting out.”
Charles gripped the bars to help, but the instant he did so he knew something was wrong. Ted’s mind was perceiving him as a threat now he was attacking the barriers that shielded Ted from him. He knew that it would not be long before his base instincts retaliated, like the body does to a virus. There wasn’t much time. Charles began to heave on the bars.
Ted relaxed as the restraints were put in place, reminding himself that they were for his own good. They actually were. The Professor put a hand to each side of his forehead, probably to help in some way, and then Ted felt a shooting pain. His istinct was at first trying to fight transformation, like he always did. And he lost, like he always did.
He xpected to wake up some time later, like usual, and have the Professor describe all the things he'd done to help him. But this time, e awoke in a cage. He looked around in confusion, but somehow just knew that it was his mind. Unsure, he looked around, and saw only a desolate landscape. What was going on? Then he saw a figure on the horizon, and saw it head toward him. He At first had a forboding sense of fear about it, but then he recognised it as the Professor. Hang on, wasn't he in a wheelchair? Then again, wasn't I in the infirmary? Ah well, I won't even try to understand what's going on.
The Professor started to speak to him, and Ted nodded. Getting out of the cage certainly seemed a good idea. He gripped the bars, and started to heave. Nothing happened. Not used to something besting his strength, he heaved again. Still nothing. Putting everything into it, he gave another long pull at the bars, and kept on pulling with all his might. Nothing. "Professor you sure this is a good idea?" Ted suddenly felt the forboding fear leave, and a sense of safety take its place. Unsure, Ted decided to keep on pulling at the bars. Not like there was anything else he could do.
Charles knew that it would not be long until Ted’s mind retaliated. He had to act fast. Heaving along with Ted the bars slowly began to bend as they started to make a breach in the cage. Then he was knocked back, away form the cage. Getting to his feet he saw a beast standing between him and the cage. Ted’s beast form.
“Ted,” said Charles, not taking his focus off the beast, the psychic manifestation of Ted’s active mental defence, “You must keep working on those bars, put all your focus into it.”
As he spoke the beast lunged, Charles thrust a hand out and the beast was slowed, but not stopped. It hit him square in the chest and knocked him to the floor. Focusing Charles kicked the beast up off him, sending it sailing over his head. Springing to his feet he dashed to the cage and began to help Ted with the bars.
“That beast is a representation of your mental defences,” he explained, pulling on the bars, “and the cage a barrier that your mind puts up to protect you. To give you control we need to break the barrier, the cage. Once out of the cage you will be able to control your body even while transformed.”
He was about to continue when the beast grabbed him and flung him away from the cage once again. Rolling to his feet Charles flung out both hands to the beast, sending it reeling. Dashing back to the cage he focused and a shimmering dome surrounded him and the cage. The beast began to hammer on the shimmering dome.
“I’ve throw up a psychic shield so I can help you, but it wont hold for long,” he said as he heaved on the bars with Ted, once again moving them slightly, widening the gap, “Your mind thinks that I’m trying to hurt you, so is trying to protect you from me. When my barrier fails I will need to fight your beast. You will need to break free of this cage.”
Ted’s mental defences were incredibly strong while he was transformed, and the barrier he had put up was failing fast. He hoped that Ted could break out soon, for even his talents were stretched to simultaneously fight off Ted’s defences and break the barrier.
As Ted pulled at the bars, he saw the Profeesor go flying, and saw a beast step in the way. Ted frowned, but then realised that that was what he looked like when transformed. The beast lunged for the Professor, but not before the Professor told Ted to keep working on the bars. Knowing that the Professor was one of the best psychics known, he tried to ignore the fight, and focus on the cage. He pulled at the bars, and was rewarded finally with a creak as they started to bend.
The Professor was suddenly at the cage again, and the beast was some distance away. nsure what had happened, Ted decided that that was not important right now, and continued to pull at the cage. His arms were starting to hurt, until he reminded himself that this was all in his head, and that his arms weren't doing anything that could hurt them. The pain began to lift, and Ted realised that he was beginning to get some control over his mind again.
Ted was heartened with this discovery, and tried to use his new-found control. He focused on the beast, imagining it getting punched in the stomach. It took a step back, but then ran at the Professor. "Professor, look out!" Before he had a chance to react, he was thrown from the cage. The Professor threw his arms out, and seemed to have hit the beast with his mind, and then was back at the cage. Ted watched the beast hammer at something, and heard the professor explain what it was.
Ted gave another pull at the bars, and they pulled right back until they were touching the ones next to them. Ted was overjoyed, and tried to get through, but he realised that the gap wasn't big enough, and that he could only get an arm through. Rembering what he had done to the beast earlier, he swung his arm as the Professor had, and the beast was knocked back several feet. But then it was up on its feet again, and hammered away at the barrier. Ted put the back of his shoulder aginst one of the bars, and both of his hands against the other, and pushed. Now that he was pushing four bars, it was a lot harder, but he wasn't just using his arms. He heard the bars creak as they moved back a bit further, and Ted was soon able to get more of himself out. Now he cuold fit a leg through as well, and was almost halfway out. He forgot the beast, and the Professor, and focused on escaping from the cage.
