The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

A cold, chilling win blew down the street of the seemingly deserted town. It was dark, very dark, and very cold. The only figure seen on the street was a young man who seemed myseterious and distant. He could only be seen because his hands and face were not covered in black. The rest of his body was coated in a black silky like material which he seemed to prefer over all other clothes. He staggered on.
The night had been long and hard. Wandering from place to place was not a favorite thing to do for this man. The intense cold had also made him more miserable. If he could have used his powers without fear of discovery, he would, but the continual search for mutants in the Jerusalem area kept him from showing his true hand. No, he would hold off using his powers until they were far more necessary.
He felt lost, confused, dazed, dreaming. The past 5 years had come and gone so fast that he couldn't believe he had actually lived them. He wanted answers. Bad. Everywhere he went could not satisfy his questioning. No where could anyone help a mutant. At least not here in Jerusalem. But couldn't leave could he? No, he had some unfinished business to deal with first. And he would deal with it...
A smile came accross the lips of the young man. Deal with it. It was as simple as that wasn't it? Just like the reverend used to say, "Your problems won't go away by just ignoring them Zeke, you have to deal with it." And deal with it he would. As soon as he got the right moment, the right oppurtunity, he deal with this matter once and for all. Deal with it. The wetness in his mouth rolled back and forth on his tounge. Deal with it.
He was tired, but he pushed himself and found thd strength to stagger into an almost empty bar. He stepped through the door and found he was one of only a few customers, and the others all seemed foreign. No matter, he would drink with any. Any. He would always drink with anyone, no matter who they were. He was that kind of man. He might kill them after the drink, but he would always drink first.
He sat at the bar and ordered a scotch on the rocks. Turning to his left he found a young woman who seemed no older than himself. He smiled at her and nodded his head in greeting. She smiled back it seemed, with a sort of mystery that Ezekiel had never seen before. He had seen mysterious women, but not like this one. Zeke pulled himself out of the strange trance his thinking had dropped him in, and he turned to pick up his drink. He took a long gulp of the liquid and then turned back to the girl. "Hello..."
"Hi yourself..." she replied in a friendly and almost playful manner.
"How are ya?" It was the only thing he could think of to say.
"Fine... You?"
"I'm good. Tired but good."
"Why so tired?" The girl smiled and gazed into his eyes.
Zeke shifted in his chair and took another long drink of the scotch. Realizing he was empty, he ordered another and turned back to the girl. "I haven't slept in a few days." Zeke decided to give her something to think about, "I'm looking for answers..."
"You too?" She said with a gleam in her eye. She looked like she understood.
"What?" Ezekiel was confused now.
"You want to know..." She lowered he voice a bit so the bartender couldn't hear. "what to do about your mutant abilities. How to harness them and use them effectively. How to fit in, in this wide world where mutants are few."
Ezekiel was a little taken back. He hadn't expected the girl to see through him so clearly. Then again...
"Who are you?" Zeke said in wonder.
"I'm a telepath. Sorry I read your mind, it was a bit by habit." She extended her hand. "The name's Beth, but most people call me Nightdream."
Zeke smiled as he looked at his co-mutant. He liked this girl a lot. He reached out and shook her hand firmly. "Nice to meet you Beth..."

In a somewhat empty hotel, Ezekiel sat in the corner of his room. The cold air outside continued to whistle by his wondow, and the deep errieness of the night held it's firm grip over everyone and everything. It was going to be a night to change all nights. This was for sure.
Now he knew the truth, he had to deal with his mess now. Meeting Nightdream had not been an accident. In fact, Ezekiel believed nothing was an accident. There was no fate, everything happens for a reason. Or does it?
Zeke stood and crossed the room to the door. He pulled the sleeves on his silk shirt up, and stared at the watch on his right wrist. It was 4:59 am. Slowly he inched the door open, and the clock in the room struck five. As the door opened, Nightdream swept into the room.
Zeke spoke first, "Right on time huh?"
"I make it a point never to be late..."
"Thank you for coming Beth."
"What is this all about Zeke?" Beth spun around and stared him deep in the eyes for a moment, "What's going on in that mind of yours?"
"Don't you know?" Ezekiel smiled with a gleam in his eyes. He liked this girl a lot.
"Yes, but I was hoping I wouldn't read your mind... my habit is a little on the extreme side. I get to the point where I have trouble walking down the street without reading the minds of people I pass there."
"Perfect."
"Excuse me?"
Zeke gazed at her and then turned to the cold window, "Beth, I've got something I need to do, and I need you to help me. What else can you do?"
"I don't know Zeke, you still haven't explained your own powers."
"Please Beth..."
Beth shook her hair free of a hairpin and turned back to face Ezekiel, "I can place a trance on most humans... mutants I can't... but humans are easy to manipulate."
Zeke clucked his tounge and smiled, "Hence Nightdream?"
"That's part of it."
"Fair enough. I create and manipulate sulfur and sulfiric acid." A deep sigh came from Ezekiel's throat. "I have a problem, an old friend is in town. Someone who I have a spite against. Care to help me eliminate him?"
Beth glared at Ezekiel. This was a time when Ezekiel wished he had the telepath ability. He wanted to read her mind now. She finally spoke, "What do I get from it Zeke?"
A pause. "What do you want?"
Without hesitation she spoke clearly, "You..."
Zeke smiled and chuckled a little. "Done."
The wind behind the window seemed to pick up a little.

Zeke checked the time again.
6:21 am. Exactly three minutes from the last time he had checked it. Calm down Zeke... you're going to be fine...
Right. Fine like he had been when he was younger. Fine like he had been when his parents had been obliterated. Fine like he had been when he was attacked and belittled by Shma only 2 years ago. Fine... yeah right.
Shma was here... Zeke could just tell. He could feel the atmospheric change that Shma brought. He could feel the rush in his bones that he experience everytime he came near this place. He could feel the danger he and Nightdream would be in soon enough. He could feel the wariness of the guards only 15 yards away. He could feel his hands start to flex as he prepare his powers. Shma was here.
He checked the time once more. 6:25...
It was time.
Zeke raised his hand slightly, and Beth's form appeared from behind a shadow. She crept along the wall until she was in full view of the guards. With the whisk of her hand, they fell into a dream like trance. That girl is amazing... and not too bad looking either...
Zeke stepped out from behind the shadows and joined Beth on the other side. The Glare inside of him was starting to form, the way it always did before he used his powers. He didn't like to use them normally, but this morning was different. This morning he would settle an account that had been long coming. This morning he would get his revenge and leave his past behind him. He would start a new life with this new friend. The deal. He was hers if they suceeded this morning. They would suceed.
The two mutants crept along the inside edge of the wall and then crossed the moonlit lawn to the front of the house. The guards kept pacing, not even recognizing that the two mutants were there. This girl is good at what she does...
Zeke slowly opened the door and climbed up the winding stairs that he was met by. Beth was close at his heels, and she closed the door quietly behind them. As Zeke reached the top of the stairs, he found two doors. Knowing Shma's habits, he took the door to the right, and crept inside with Beth right behind.
In the far end of the room was figure asleep in a plush bed. Figures. Zeke didn't waste any time in crossing the room to reach the bedside and staring down at the gentle sleeping body. Shma... definitely Shma. It was time to do this and be done with it.
Beth spoke softly, "This is the man you want to kill?"
The reply was quiet but firm, "No, this is the man I'm going to kill... now."
Zeke lifted the covers off the man's form and shook him violently. The man burts from his sleep and practically fell out of bed. Zeke held him steady in the bed though and stared deep into the man's eyes. "Sorry to wake you Shma... but I simply had to speak with you..."
The man's eyes were filled with instant terror at recognition of the voice. "Z-- Zee--Ezekiel??" he stammered...
"Yes, now if you dont mind, I'll let you go back to sleep... but one thing first. I forgive you for helping kill my parents. I forgive you for infusing my body with your liquid and controlling me. I forgive you, like you taught me to... G'nite."
Zeke's hand's flashed as a puff of sulfur came out. Just a test. Then he slammed his hand into the open mouth of the startled man. Shma had an instant to cry, "Zeeek--" before he was cut off my the hand which surged into his mouth.
Zeke turned to Beth, "Hold your breathe."
Glare used his power to to infuse massive quantities of sulfur into the mans lungs, overloading them and choaking him, as he held the man's nose with his other hand. The man sufficated within a moment, and the lifeless form sagged on the pillow. Zeke let it drop and turned back to Beth. "Let's go."
The two hurried out of the sulfur filled room and exited the building where fresh air could be breathed. Beth gasped as she took in some clean air. "You're relentless..."
Zeke looked back to her. "Only when I have to be. Was it just me, or was it a little cloudy in there?"
Beth smiled at the joke as she held the guards only 10 feet away under her trance. "Yes it was... now about our bargain."
Zeke smiled... "Let's go back to the hotel. You can put me under your trance anytime girl." The two hurried away.

Zeke stirred in the bed. With a start he bolted up, sweating tremendously. The dream... it had to be the dream. It was crazy, something he had never experienced before. Then again...
He gazed at the girl beside him in the bed. Beth. Nightdreamer. There had to be more to her power than met the naked eye. She had power for sure. Power that few had experienced to this point. Thankfully, Zeke had been one of the few. They had been here since 7 a.m. if Ezekiel's memory had served him right. They had gone from aquaintances to lovers in four hours. Now here they were 14 hours later, waking from their rest at 8 at night. Whew... what long night and early morning they had had.
Shma was dead. Zeke was now on the run. If Shma's associates understood what had happened to him, they would certainly be looking for Zeke within the next few days. He had to leave Jerusalem and leave soon. And he would take Beth with him. He climbed out of bed and hastily put on his clothes. Crossing the room, he picked up the phone and dialed the airport.
Beth stirred behind him, "What are you doing Zeke?"
Zeke smiled to himself as he waited for someone on the other end of his call to pick up. "Calling the airport..."
She seemed confused, "Airport?"
"Yes..." a pause, hesistation filled Zeke's mind, finally, "I had... a--"
"A dream." she completed his sentence.
"Yes."
"And what did the dream tell you to do?" she asked knowingly.
"What?"
"You must follow the instructions Zeke. No person can sleep near me and not dream. And whatever they dream they must do. You saw something, you were somewhere, you were doing something. You are calling the airport, so you must have plans to leave. Where are you going?"
"It's not where I am going, it's where we are going."
"You saw me there too?"
"Yes," the phone clicked a little and a lady's voive could be heard in the reciever. "Yes, I'd like tickets to New York right away. The name is Ezekiel White and Elizabeth Halloway. Yes, the quickest flight you have. Thank you. I'll be there soon."
Zeke turned back to the startled Beth. "Please get dressed, we have a long flight ahead of us..."

(OOC: Not sure if this is where Syn wanted me to put the post, but hope it is. She's having trouble logging in to the site, so we're trying to fix it.)
“I know what you’ve done!” yelled the guy.
How could he know what I did? No one was near the club when I left. She thought as she surveyed the two people who were now approaching her. She looked them over good. Neither of them seemed to have any visible weapons, but they did out number her. Perhaps she could do something to allow herself to escape yet keep them from following.
“You have no idea what else I can do!” she yelled back at the pair as she bolted down the alley.
The alley had a secondary path between a couple buildings with ended in a T intersection. Syn darted down the second alley. She picked up a trash can full of junk and waited for a couple seconds before tossing it up into the air in the direction of the first alley way. This was only a distraction of course. As the pair avoided the trash can and quickly made the turn down the second alley their vision was caught by a large dumpster barreling towards them. Syn gave one last powerful shove to increase the speed of the dumpster. And then turned the opposite way and ran as fast as she could.
She had only traveled twenty or so feet when she heard the loud crash of the dumpster as it collided with what she hoped were the people chasing her. Otherwise it would at least slow them down. Little did she know that it had hit the girl.
