The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hercules was confused. That was why he was walking down the hallway to where Elizabeth was. She had poured herself in work and her students since the mansion was destroyed. Since the battle. They hadn’t really talked. Text messages were exchanged but those were the reason for his confusion.
A supportive Madison was the one to point it out after she asked how Elizabeth was. Apparently ‘Busy and fine’ meant something else. Which was so unlike Elizabeth. She was usually direct with her meaning. Which was why it went on for a few days before Madison, finally told him “Yeah, that’s avoident behavior. Fine is what people say when they don’t want to unpack what they’re dealing with.”
”I understand.” repeated the prince of power as he ripped the door off the hinges as he entered her temporary office in the Haven building. ”Elizabeth! I am here!” he flexed and looked down to the door and then set it behind him against the wall. His shirt ripped when he flexed a second time.
”I shall not let you avoid unpacking any longer! Allow me to help! I request a date!” he clenched his fist then gave her a thumbs up.

In the wake of the mansion's destruction, so many other things had shattered. Any sense of peace, of security, of safety the mutants had was obliterated with the bones of their home. Students were sent home when they could be, but not every child had the luxury of a family who wanted them. The mansion staff still had to take care of them and provide education, training, and everything else that had been taken for granted. Some of the staff, Elizabeth included, were now effectively homeless, their earthly belongings mostly destroyed.
The world had turned upside down and burned in one devastation.
Liz sat behind her plain, unadorned desk in her temporary office. It was packed with papers, cabinets, boxes, office supplies, and more. There was almost no personality there, no personalization. Just work.
The blonde shuffled a stack of papers and then frowned. She was missing one...oh there it was.
Several dozen ants shifted the errant report across her desk and to her hand before returning to their at-rest formations. She didn't say anything. She didn't need to. They immediately felt her gratitude and resumed their precise orderly lineups, awaiting for Elizabeth's next whim.
Though the resources at Haven were extensive, the Xavier population was still a sudden drain. The dust was still settling all over the place. There was still so much to be done. That's why she'd left Nico and Zorro at her temporary lodgings and resorted to office assist-ants. They were less distracting and took up less space. Even with hundreds and nearly thousands of ants swarming the office, adjusting stacks, cleaning up small messes, retrieving files as needed, they were remarkably economic and efficient.
Because of them, Liz felt Hercules before she heard him, his thundering footsteps an oncoming earthquake to the sensitive ants. "Oh bother," Liz said absently right before the door was ripped off its hinges. She simply stared at the man, her boyfriend, noting the sudden rips of his shirt, the property damage, and taking his words into account. She immediately began filing it all away. The ants had all scattered exactly three feet away from his feet, creating a shifting wall that moved as he did, so he was never in danger of stepping on them.
"Not now, Hercules," she said almost inflectionlessly, pulling out another folder to look at an expense report. "I've got a lot of work to do."
The son of Zues chuckled when she said she was busy. Elizabeth seemed fine as well. Which was preciesly why he was here. So she wouldn’t be avoiding the unpacking of emotions. The ants scattered about the room and he looked down worried for a second he might have crushed them. ”So I gathered.” he folded his arms and stared at the paperwork and the ants that continued to rummage through files.
”I believe you are...” he for once thought about the words before he spoke. Something he was working on, ”in need for a break.” his arms still folded he took a few steps forward waiting for the ants to move out of the way as he strode to the desk.
Placing too massive hands on the desk he leaned over, ”I believe the work will still be here after our date!” he was half tempted to lift the desk and her and whisk her away so she could do the paperwork on the date.
”It has been days since I’ve last seen you and I am worried about you.” he said pleading with a smile. ”I’m willing to wait here till after your paperwork is finished if you’d like.” he looked over to the empty corner and stood there smiling with his hands on his hips.

Liz wrote down a few notes on the file and took a sticky note from a squadron of ants before sticking it to the paper. If only the ants were dexterous and large enough that she could use them to write with. She'd be an unstoppable office administrator then.
"Sorry Hercules, I can't really afford to take a break right now," she said, stapling some papers together. "We're still handling the safe return of several of our international students and are student records are a mess right now. I have to make sure Jean-Paul and Pierre are able to get home as soon as possible."
Another reason her office was piled up with papers, with orderly rows of ants everywhere, meticulously filing things. Most of their records had been stored in the cloud, but not everything. Some of their data was potentially permanently lost, although the services of a retro-cognitive mutant was having some success in manually reproducing the files in their own handwriting. Everything still needed uploaded though.
Liz frowned slightly and checked her phone. "Date? What date? I don't have a date on my calendar," she said with a bit of confusion. Or maybe Hercules was confused. She smiled at him, the quick easy smile of a shopping center greeter who has to look happy even though their mind is a million miles away, or in this instance, directing a couple thousand ants in a myriad of administrata.
"No need to worry about me," she said to the massive man in her tiny office. "I'm fine. I don't really think there's room here to wait. I believe there's a lounge on the next floor or something. I'm sure someone can direct you there." she said.

Was she angry with him? For failing to protect the mansion? Madison would have mentioned it if she was. If only he understood texting!
Hercules started to glow by the end of her dismissal. He was irritated, very rarely was he dismissed so.... casually. Were they not dating? Were they not an item anymore? To think a mere mortal tired of the Greek former Olympian so easily. He was almost defeated. Almost.
Unfortunately for her Hercules strongest gift was his willpower and he too could be stubborn. His smile widened along with his stance. Rooting himself into the ground as if he was a ancient Greek statue and not just the model for one.
”It was not planned. I was told being spontaneous can help any relationship.” his glow brightened slowly. ”We haven’t had a chance yet to talk or I would have requested to see you earlier.” his eyes narrowed at the ants as they continued to move around.
”You are not ‘fine’. You have seem to forget who I am Elizabeth, I worry for everyone. The way you worry for these... helpers and all other forms of creatures.” the term ‘ant’ almost seemed like an insult with how efficient they were with moving the files around.
”I will not move!” he said glowing brighter. The tattoo’ swam across his body peering out through the ripped shit. ”I too can be stubborn Elizabeth. I am here to see you, no one else.”

Hmmm. Hercules wasn't leaving. He seemed content to just remain there. That wasn't ideal. It added an 18% increase to the time it took her ants to safely circumnavigate his presence safely and efficiently without disrupting the flow she' finally settled into earlier that day. True, that wasn't going to significantly slow her down but....but....the disruption.
Liz straightened her unconsciously crooking fingers. Weird. Something to address later. When she had time. If she had time. There was always something else to do, always another problem, always someone else needing something. Needing her help. Needing her to do something. Asking her for something. Asking questions. Crying. Yelling. Hurting. All the time.
"I can't do spontaneous right now," she tried to explain, already switching over to her tablet and typing up some notes as an ant battalion reorganized her paper clips on her desk. She absently smoothed a strand of hair into her tight bun. It was the seventeenth time she'd had to do that in the last hour. It just kept. Getting. Loose.
Hercules was starting to glow. Was his voice raising? For an idle moment, she wondered how many ants it would take to pick him up and carry him out of the room. She shook her head slightly and forced that thought to the side as she realized all of the ants had started swarming toward Hercules in instant obedience. "Please," she said with a strained smile. She brushed the hair away again. Maybe she should cut the strand off? "I don't need any distractions. It's....hard enough as it is." She stared him in the eye, even though he towered way over her. Please understand.
There were many ways the prince of power could have forcedly removed her from the small room. He could have opened the small room up into the hallway and demand for her to pay attention. He however settled on one after seeing the look she had given him. The ants started to move closer to the muscled behemoth and his glow faded.
This would not be a fight. The ants didn’t stand a chance he could have dispelled them with a swat of his club. Across the city the ancient weapon hummed to life and rose off the ground then dropped back when Hercules realized that it was responding to his thoughts.
The thought of harming the ants that connected to her made his stomach churn. He didn’t want to hurt her. Just help. ”I....” she wanted her to leave her alone. ”Uhhhh....” had he lost?
”No!” Hercules roared as he walked forward and shifted the desk out of the way taking care not to crush the ants he could see. ”I shall be the only distraction!” Hercules said as he scooped her up in one arm and threw her over his shoulder. ”Apologies!” he said as he ducked under the doorframe and making sure not to bump her head.

There was confusion in his beautiful, ancient, expressive eyes and Elizabeth turned her gaze to her work. That was her mistake. She was not watching through the ants or paying attention to their thoughts, or she would've had more than a half second's warning.
The desk was yanked away and stacks of papers went sprawling. Ants screaming in psychic chaos as their parade lines were irreparably ruined. In the emptiness before her, Hercules came for her, a giant of gentleness and eldritch light, the shine of determination in his eyes a sharp, glaring contrast to the blankness in her own. "What are you--Hercules! Hercules! HERCULES!" she said, her voice rising quickly as she was scooped up like a bag of potting soil and carried out into the hallway.
"Hercules! Put me down!" Liz said, slapping his back. She knew it wouldn't harm him, but she needed his attention. A thousand ants spilled into the hallway like a tide, even as several hundred went about cleaning up as much of the mess as they could.
"This is not humorous!" she declared. She saw the ants and rethought. The swarm returned to the office. Then she thought again. Every single ant began heading out of the office, following the man and woman. "Hercules!"
She only slapped his back the one time. There was no point in doing it again. The ants were a steady stream now, chasing after them as quickly as possible, breaking into rivulets as needed to avoid obstacles. They were rapidly losing ground to Hercules's massive gait, but they were persistent. Much like Hercules himself.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked, when her sharp cries failed to change Hercules's vector. She might as well learn his plans - short of true harm, she would not be able to stop him. She wasn't ready for that. Not yet, anyways. The ants would either help her, or she'd at least get them somewhere where they could naturally disperse without becoming an indoor infestation.
”I refuse!” he said proudly. The slap was felt more from the fact that she was wanting to strike him. He’d beg for forgiveness later. She needed to get out of the small office and back into nature where she truly shined. He didn’t know if it was the ants making her such a recluse or the fact that she didn’t want to discuss what was bothering her. Either way she need to get out and the prince of power was all to happy to help. No, it was an honor to help!
>>>"This is not humorous!"
”I know. Apologies once again.”
>>> "Hercules!"
”I’m hoping to make it up to you.”
>>>>"Where are you taking me?"
Slowing to the elevator pressing the down button, the prince of power said cheerly ”Out!” he didn't’ want to spoil the surprise but the ancient Greek did have William look into a nature preserve outside of the city. One where man was not allowed to build. Just observe.
The doors were about to shut and he looked back seeking a stream of ants trailing behind them. The door was about to shut then opened again when he stuck his foot out. ”Shall we wait for your friends?” he asked patiently.

He kept apologizing. But he didn't stop. He didn't even put her down. He wasn't ignoring her, he was just not obeying her. Elizabeth's eyes narrowed, but she held back any overt actions. Technically, she was being abducted, but as far as those went, this didn't even make her top ten. No point summoning the entirety of Haven - Hercules would just walk through them or people and places would be severely damaged.
No, the last think Liz needed was more paperwork. It was already going to be piling up. If only she could leave the ants with some autonomy! If they could be left to their devices and handle the busywork for her! Then she wouldn't have a mountain of things to address whenever she was finally able to get away from Hercules.
They made it to the elevator and gentle as Herc was, Elizabeth's head was kept far from the possibility of being hit on the doorframe. Hercules even paused to hold it open for the ants.
"Now you're wanting my opinion?" she said in a steely tone. "Very well. Since you're so determined to abscond with me, the least you can do is let me keep this building from suffered the worst infestation in the history of the state."
The ants rapidly spilled into the elevator, making bridges with their own bodies to cover the gap between elevator and floor, and then filling every inch of space in the elevator, from floor to walls, to ceiling. The only things they didn't cover were the lights and the buttons and the sliding doors themselves.
When the last ant was safely in the elevator, Liz sighed. "They're all in. Let's get this over with."
”But of course!” Hercules said holding the elevator. It took some time but eventually all the ants that Elizabeth wanted to accompany them made it into the elevator. The music started to play and the elevator started to descend to the first floor.
Once or twice the doors opened to a group of people staring looking for a spot to stand in the machine. Hercules tried to make himself as small as possible standing in the back. ”Going down?” he held the doors open for a minute until the members of each group decided to wait for the next one. ”Very well! Have a wonderful day!”
”I’m sorry for the abduction.” he said again as the doors dinged open. Holding the doors for the ants once again Hercules waited for the ‘all clear’ from Elizabeth before exiting fully and walking to the entrance of the building. A few people gathered around his club he left by the entrance. The building security said no weapons. Hercules was all but happy to oblige.
Some of the younger onlookers even took turns trying to lift the club. ”Thank you for keeping an eye on my club!” Hercules roared with laughter as one of the kids even managed to move the handle slightly. ”A few years from now you might be able to move it! Truly inspiring!” walking over he grabbed the end of the club and hefted the weapon in his other hand and exited the building.
”Now! Shall we?” Hercules asked before holding onto the club as he threw in the direction of the nature preserve lifting them both off the ground with his might.

From her position across Hercules's shoulder, Elizabeth had a terrible view of the whole ride. However, the ants had a fantastic view. The elevator was covered in a virtual carpet of insects, and all of them had turned to glare at Hercules with their beady little compound eyes. When other people came in, the ants shifted and flowed around them, even clambering on top of each other to form giant lumps of shifting darkness as the elevator filled.
In any other situation, Liz would've enjoyed the looks on peoples' faces as they refused to get in the elevator with the mass of bugs or the massive man clearly standing with a woman over his shoulder, or as the people who ignored it did their level best to ignore it entirely until they could get off themselves.
When it was their tern to disembark, Liz let her captor know when it was clear to let the doors shut so none of the ants got squished or trapped. Then while Hercules talked to kids, Liz caught the eye of the receptionist. "Don't worry, it is a kidnapping, but I'll take care of it. He's not going to get away with this," she promised blandly. "Please let Gemma Taylor-Cervantes know that I'll be taking the afternoon off whether I like it or not."
Once outside, Liz began the task of dispersing the ants as quickly and safely as possible and then Hercules was leaping into the air. "Like I have a choice," she remarked.
”Apologies again!” he roared as they flew. It took several throws, but eventually they flew past the city boundaries exposing the landscape to lush green and roads. Elizabeth needed this, and he needed her. She reminded him he was still mortal, and he had been dealing with the loss of the mansion in his own way.
There was a hill that took the impact of Hercules with a loud thud and he released his club and absorbed the impact of the landing so Elizabeth felt little. Once he was happy he set Elizabeth down gently and beamed. The top of the hill that was the clearing was surrounded by shrubs and large trees. Ones even the demi-god had to stare at. They weren’t there yet. This was just the landing zone.
Leaving his club Hercules gestured towards a walkway nearby. ”I thought this would be good for both of us!” Hercules said beaming and walking down to the path making sure not to damage any of the plant life with his massive stride. The path that led them was easy enough to find but Hercules looked around, now lost as to where he put the blanket and basket both of which were in a large cooler that was supposedly bear proof.
”The trees are misleading...” Hercules said looking around as the sound of a dozen birds chirped nearby.

In any other time, Elizabeth would've been enjoying herself. The feeling of wind on her face as she hurtled over the countryside was something she rarely felt. Normally she felt it vicariously through psychic possessions. The last time she'd felt this was....with Carrick.
Liz shook her head. This wasn't the time for either of those things. She spent the journey mentally cataloging the work that she was going to have to catch up on. Filings, letters to be mailed out, emails to be sent, so many coordination efforts. She didn't know how she was going to get it all done. At the very least she'd be losing another few hours of sleep that night, just like the last three nights. There was just always more stuff to do.
The blonde barely noticed the landing until Hercules finally sat her down. She stood blankly, not really taking in her surroundings. She followed him along, keeping pace mechanically despite his larger stride. Then there was a blanket and a basket and a cooler. The birds stopped chirping and even the ambient bug sounds died off as she stopped walking. "Why are we here?" she asked.
Was that the tree he was searching for? Hercules wondered with a look of confusion. He was still smiling glad he was there, just not exactly sure where they needed to be. He spotted the items he was searching for when the question was posed and he snapped his meaty fingers. ”To find balance.” he said cryptically. It was one of his new favorite sayings from a new friend.
”I told you.” Hercules said walking over and sitting down on the blanket. Still where he left it. Along with everything else. Good. Bears. Ha! The cooler was the mightiest, one fit for the prince of power. It was a wise purchase no matter what William had told him. ”For a date!” he said truthfully this time he elaborated. ”And because I’m worried about you.”
Hercules patted the checkered blanket he was sitting on and then went to the cooler removing a container of olives and another of cheeses followed by to mugs and a bottle of wine. ”You help remind me of my humanity, that I was once just a mortal. Allow me to do the same for you!” he said beaming and opening the bottle.
