His limbs hurt, he was tired but his adrenaline was pretty good at keeping him going. If not for that and the potential death waiting for him and Zek if they didn’t leave he would have wanted to sit and catch his breath. However he could hear the security running around down below the ringing from the commotion was stopping. Good, it was starting to get annoying.
Agreeing and smirking at the new exit, ”Hopefully they got good insurance.” he said trying to make a joke, ”Wonder if this falls under ‘act of god’." His wings snapped open and he ran towards Zek grabbing onto him and letting his feet dangle below as he flapped a few times.
Another gunshot rang out in the night sky followed by the barking of dogs. Carrick’s hands instinctively gripped tighter around his buddy when he heard the dogs. Carrick knew of Zek’s hatred of dogs and knew he’d go over the big top if he had to interact with them. ”Where to?” he asked heading back towards the city and the city skyline that was slowly starting to be illuminated from the sunrise.

Zek grinned a bit manically. “It’s absolutely an act of a god!” he said with zeal and no trace of shame. He was pretty proud of himself. He was single-handedly pulling off an entire elaborate heist all by himself! With Featherbutt as aesthetic decor. His zeal turned into a “Wheeeeeee!” as he was swept up and then out and Air Birdcat was suddenly zipping them off into the sky.
He began cackling again as the righteous triumph surged through him. He could feel the mounds of treasure safely tucked away in separate dimensions, awaiting his retrieval. They should be thanking him for liberating them from the hands of such a vile person! Why, Zek was willing to assume the man hadn’t even finished the danish!
But barking distracted him. Even as Karen hugged him (which Zek found to be weird but okay whatever), Zek’s heist=high couldn’t be squashed. This high up? Ain’t no dog in the world gonna catch him now! Besides, he had tricks up his sleeves! Or rather, in his pockets!
As they flew over the dark-swaddled grounds, Zek released three scarlet orbs in the areas he thought the barkings were coming from and delightfully watched the giant chunks of walls and ceilings start plummeting through the air. If he was lucky, there’d be no more barking tonight.
“Let’s go back to your place,” Zek said as he pulled a plastic-wrapped sandwich out of an inner breast pocket and began to nibble on it. “I’m famished and I hear Cold Steel has a great selection of steaks.”
