Other features: Everything above really doesn't explain Oli's appearance. The above describes Oli's physical body, which is currently comatose in an unknown location. What Oli actually looks like is a microSD card, about the size of a thumbnail. The microSD card is a SanDisk extreme 1TB, with gold and red bands. And that microSD card is wedged into a Samsung Galaxy S10.
Depending on what piece of technology Oli is currently inhabiting they might have a sort of appearance. If they are in a piece of technology that has a screen, like a phone or computer, Oli can choose to appear on it. This 'avatar' presumably looks like the 'real' Oli, but more...geometric. If Oli is inside an older piece of technology their appearance will match the graphic capabilities of the machine. So on a gameboy Oli will be pixilated and grayscale.
Everyday clothing style: Oli's physical, human, body is probably wearing clothes. They really have no way of knowing, or really caring.
Miscellaneous clothing: The phone Oli currently resides in has a black, OtterBox, case.
Character
Personality:
Oli is a people pleaser first and foremost. Happy and willing to carry out any request that is asked of them. They are excellent at following directions and instructions, but is not afraid to speak up if they have a suggestion that might make a task more effective. Oli is rather intelligent, at least about technology and the best way to use their powers with it.
They are extremely friendly and good natured. They can carry out even the most morally dubious task with a smile and a 'You got it!'And despite their sunny nature they are not naïve. They can normally tell when they are being tricked, and is smart enough to keep private matters private between their various users.
Now...this is all very surface level Oli. This is 'business' Oli. The Oli who knows the people they often associate with are dangerous, greedy, or violent. The type of people that, if they were to deny a request, would toss them in a shoebox in an attic. Completely alone. Business Oli has all the artificial sweetness of Siri answering a question.
The "real" Oli...well the real Oli doesn't get a lot of time to be themself. The real Oli is still friendly and helpful, just a lot more toned down. They suffer pretty bad insecurities because of what they are, and how they can be used. And how they are powerless to say no. They are curious, extremely curious, about the 'outside' world. And at times, although they would never admit it, they miss having a physical body. Looking at .JPGs of pizza and eating pizza are two very different sensations.
Hobbies/ Interests: Oli enjoys exploring new and interesting tech, playing video games, listening to music and learning about modern culture from actual people. Oli could listen to people talk for hours about the topics they are passionate about, in a way they get to vicariously live through these stories.
Job or part time job and description: Advertises themself as either a Hacker or a IT repair person depending on who asks. Would probably make an awesome Computer Lab teacher.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Being destroyed or becoming lost. Losing touch with their humanity.
Special talents: Oli's great memory and desire to learn makes them the perfect partner to have at Trivia night.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Oli is good, they don't like causing harm or pain, but because of Oli's...physical predicament, their actions tend to reflect whoever they are with. Oli will act in the ways that benefit whoever carries them around. Both cracking an electronic safe and helping someone beat a boss fight in a video game will result in Oli not being tossed in the garbage.
Mutations
Mutation description:
Technology Possession
Oli can place their consciousness inside of technology, putting their mind in a sort of digital landscape. Once inside Oli has free range of files, code, and images stored within. While possessing a piece of technology Oli also has access to the devices basic functions, being able to carry these out stealthily from inside.
- Files: Oli can copy, remove, replace and re-write almost any file on a computer. Oli mostly uses this for gathering personal data or planting and destroying evidence.
- Code: Most often used in their video game travels. Need some extra lives? Wow look at that, some spawned right next to you! Want to unlock that rare skin without the gamble? Oli just put it in your next loot box! Lonely? Oli is an instant player two!
- Basic Functions: Anything a device can do Oli can do! Composing emails, writing memos, taking screenshots, even looking at cute GIFs of cats! Need a new Google Assistant? Try OLI!
When entering a piece of technology it will, momentarily, have a soft glow around it. This allows people who are aware of Oli's mutation to track their movement from device to device.
Strengths:
Once Oli is inside a piece of technology the possibilities are (almost) endless! Their powers have a lot of different applications depending on what you need done. Forgot your phone password? Easy, Oli can change it for you. Is your ex-partner threatening to leak your saucy photos? Oli's got them safe and secure. Want someone's banking information? Sure thing just get them to your target's computer! Having a hard time with that video game boss fight? Well now it only has one hit point!
Weaknesses and Limitations:
- Oli's mutation does not enhance, upgrade, or improve technology in anyway. Oli simply can place their consciousness within the technology. So a crappy computer is still a crappy computer if Oli hops in.
- The efficiency to move from tech to tech depends on a few factors. Mainly time and material. The fastest would be to connect the two pieces of technology by some sort of exposed internal piece, like touching the gold plates of an SD card directly to a computer's motherboard. But this is not always possible, and very obvious. The next step up would be direct connection via a port. Such as plugging a phone's charging cable into a USB drive. A little slower but a lot safer. The most inconspicuous way would be placing one tech onto the other, like setting a phone on top of a computer tower. This jump is hard for Oli to make, taking more time and energy, but wouldn't draw the attention of a passerby.
- Their powers only work on devices that contain circuit boards. So no cars, chainsaws or ovens. They can, however, possess smaller components of these devices that do contain circuit boards such as the car's radio, or the oven's LED screen. Oli can also only possess technology that has some sort of power running to it. A computer doesn't necessarily need to be turned on, but it does need to be plugged in or have spare battery life. If Oli is currently inside a piece of technology and this power source is taken away (ie the computer is unplugged, the batteries are removed) Oli will enter a sort of 'sleep mode' until power is restored.
- Oli's senses depend entirely on what they are currently inhabiting. They can only see if there is a camera, can only hear if there is a some sort of audio input capabilities, like a microphone, and can only 'speak' if there is a speaker. If Oli was inside a digital alarm clock, and needed to communicate, they would have to get creative. Taste and smell are completely lost to Oli.
- Technology with built in protection, such as Firewalls or AntiVirus, can be difficult for Oli to traverse. If detected they can be injured or ejected from the device. And once kicked out it can be difficult for Oli to get back in.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Oli's durability depends entirely on what they are currently possessing. A Smart Watch is easy to smash while a government super computer has a bit more protection around it. As for speed, flexibility, and stamina...well those all depend on who's carrying them around.
Fighting Style: N/A
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Well...someone could like...throw Oli at someone. Or if they possessed a Roomba with a knife taped to it...In reality Oli has absolutely no fighting capabilities on their own. They, hypothetically, could be put in a computer that controls weapons, but that's about it.
History Of Your Character
Oli discovered their powers at a rather young age. For their tenth birthday they got a gameboy, and a handful of games. Oli was playing with the gameboy when they suddenly fell unconscious. Luckily the gameboy remained in their hands, so they regained consciousness soon after. Oli's parents were worried their young child had a seizure. But Oli told them this wasn't the case. In fact during that brief moment of unconsciousness Oli insisted they were inside their gameboy, they were in the JumperMan level, dodging fireballs.
Shortly after this discovery Oli's parents vanished. And some very well dressed individuals came to their home. These people told Oli that they were taking them to a place for special children.
And so Oli went with them. Those people had suits! And special IDs! And said they worked for the government! They were clearly good people out to protect Oli!
The place Oli was taken to was...kinda strange. It felt more like a warehouse with rooms then a house. There was only one exit, constantly monitored, and the windows were really high up the walls. And there weren't any other kids. But the adults were nice! Oli had their own room with all the comforts they could ask for. And the adults even gave Oli all sorts of games and electronics to play with, and encouraged Oli to practice their 'powers' on them!
The adults told them they worked for an organization called TETRA, which specialized in helping children with unique abilities. Through their years at TETRA Oli grew close to a man named Scott Mercer. He always had answers for their questions, encouraged them to use their mutation in new and interesting ways, and always remembered little details about Oli. Mr. Mercer was a mentor to Oli, and eventually became a sort of father figure.
Over the next few years Oli got proficient in using their powers. Possessing, manipulating, and extracting information from more and more complex machines. It felt like a game, or a scavenger hunt, to the young Oli! Consciousness enters computer, search for specific files, and extract them! It was fun! And Oli got all sorts of rewards, from sweets to toys, for completing these 'training modules'.
As Oli continued to train and get better at controlling their mutation, the adults began to talk about Graduation. Oli was excited for graduation! Maybe it meant a fun ceremony, one that their parents might be invited to! Oh with a sheet cake and confetti!
For years training had always been the same. Oli would touch the exposed internals of a computer or game console, fall unconscious, complete the task given to them, and then re-enter their body. But shortly after Oli turned fifteen it changed. This time Oli was handed a small flashdrive, and was told to possess it. And they did. And before Oli could really question the shift in training the flashdrive was taken out of Oli's, unconscious, hands by Mr. Mercer.
Completely severing Oli from their body, trapping them in the drive.
Mr. Mercer told young Oli not to panic, as this was just the next stage of their training. Now they were mobile, and would be practicing moving files from a computer to the drive they inhabited. At first Oli was excited for the upgrade in training, and getting to explore more computers. Oli could tell they were being transported out of their building, even though they couldn't see or hear. They were exploring stranger and stranger computers, collecting stranger and stranger files.
One day out of their body became many days. And those days turned to weeks. The horror dawned on Oli. They weren't being returned to their body. This wasn't more training. This was graduation.
Oli didn't know what to do. They were completely trapped. And every day they were brought to a new computer, told to collect or place dubious files. On the days they were successful they would be put in a solitary computer or video game as a reward. The days they questioned their higher-ups they were kept in the flashdrive, deaf and blind. And so Oli kept their mouth shut, and did as they were instructed.
Seven years have passed since Oli was removed from their body. They have been passed from criminal group to criminal group. Caused all sorts of cyber threats from bank fraud to password and identity theft. And with no way of knowing where their body is, or even where TETRA was located, they had very few options. Every so often Oli found themself being transported back to that familiar place, back to Mr. Mercer. Years of being used by him and his associates filled Oli with hatred for the man. But deep down they hope, someday, Mr. Mercer will once again be that kind and wise man he was when they were young. And maybe even return them to their body.

Sample RP:
A well dressed man exits a bank. He walks quickly, but with purpose. The sidewalks are busy, the road packed with cars. Eventually he vanishes into the crowd. The phone in his suit jacket pocket lights up, a four digit password is entered, seemingly on it's own. A moment later he hears a voice through the BlueTooth earbud in his hear.
"Whew! That was quick! Maybe my fastest extraction at that bank!"
The man says nothing, crossing the street. Their destination, a park, appears around a bend. The voice speaks up again.
"Would you like the files send to your work email, personal email or second personal email?"
The man answers quickly, turning to enter the park. "Work, please."
The phone's screen suddenly changes, an E-Mail app opening on it's own. An address is entered and files are attached to the email without the man touching the phone. But since the phone is secure in his pocket this goes unnoticed by passers by.
"Okay! Files sent!"
The man walked through the park. He eventually finds a bench with an old backpack on it. He sits down next to the bag, exhaling slowly. After a moment he removes the phone from his pocket. He holds it up to his ear, feigning a phone call.
"Looks like you're off the hook kiddo."
Taking a quick look around, and seeing no watching eyes, the man slips the phone into the backpack. He pauses before zipping up the bag.
"You've got one more pickup today. You gonna be alright for a few hours? Got enough battery life?"
The screen again lights up. And this time, among the phone's wallpaper and apps, was the image of a person. Polygonal and strange. This avatar smiles, giving the man a thumb's up.
"Oh yes! I'll be just fine! I've recently been permitted to install both Solitaire and Tetris! So I'll be plenty occupied!"
The bag is zipped shut. Leaving the phone in darkness. Now alone the avatar's wide smile slowly fades, and they sigh. Settling in for a long wait
