Personality: Due to the nature of his ability, Mike's mood tends to fluctuate with the people in his surroundings. Generally, he's approachable, and sometimes unintentionally intrusive because of things he picks up on with his power. He's rather sarcastic, though not in an obnoxious way. He's defensive of himself, and even more defensive of his friends or those he judges to be in need of defense Notes (hobbies, phobias, worries, ect.): Michael's emotions are often influenced by his psychic abilities. He has, once in the past, let other people's anger take hold of him, and he's terrified of it happening again, to the point of overcompensation. He's determined to use his powers to make up for the trouble they've already caused.

Side (good, bad, or neutral): Neutral, leaning heavily toward good. He wants to do what is right, but is unsure of what that is at times. He reveres the X-Men and their work, but sympathizes occasionally with the Brotherhood's aims, though not their means.

Description of ability(ies):
Telepathy: Michael is able to enter minds to read and affect them. He is able to exert near limitless control over emotions, and the memories associated with them. He is able to focus his telepathy into a psychic blade, through which he can focus powerful telepathic attacks physically.
Telekinesis: Michael has telekinetic control over matter, which is amplified by strong emotion from either himself or those around him. He can use this ability to fly, defend, and attack. He can also create staves (and theoretically any other type of physical weapon, though that has not been done) out of telekinetic energy.
Spirit Link: Michael is linked in spirit to a spirit that calls itself the Angel of Tears, a being of consolation and vengeance. This is not a true power, merely an aspect of those already stated. When he is fully powered (and emotionally charged), this link shows through the formation of psychic wings on his back, and his personality shifts somewhat.

Cons (weaknesses) of abilities: Michael constantly feels the stronger emotions about him (normal ones only feel like a buzzing, or background noise unless he focuses on them) and hears emotionally charged thoughts. He has to sort through these emotions, making sure to anchor himself in his own emotions, or else get swept into fits of anger, depression, happiness, etc. that come from someone else's mind. He is also prone to personality shifts, as described above, during which he is fairly bloodthirsty in his pursuit of vengeance.

Fighting style (if any): Trained in the Doble Bastion discipline of Escrima, with passable skill in the Suntukan discipline as well.

History of your character:
Michael comes from an affluent family, the son of a powerful lawyer. He was his father's favorite, being oldest, and was somewhat spoiled, though that often embarrassed him.

When his powers began to surface, the family's lives turned fairly upside down. Not even knowing of his psychic powers, Mike had little hope of controlling them. He would be assaulted by other people's emotions, which he would often mistake for his own, leading to erratic behavior that often culminated in him getting into fights. Soon, as the fights became more frequent, Mike would pick up only anger and disgust directed at him, and with his empathy projecting his own anger
on others, the fights became nearly continuous, particularly when his telepathy appeared.

Michael was kicked out of his private school at 15, much to his father's embarassment. Mr. Asters continued to groom his son as his protégé for a short while before lawsuits were threatened from classmates he'd been fighting with. The family was forced to move two times because Mr. Asters didn't want Michael's status as a mutant (which was growing increasingly hard to hide) to hinder his business.

His reputation followed him, though, until finally at a new school, he was surrounded in the gym and assaulted. He still isn't sure what he was stabbed with, the weapon or object was never found, but after that, everything became a red haze. He spent a good deal of time in the hospital recovering, which was where a nurse suggested to him, privately, without his father to object, that he enroll in Xavier's.

After coming to Xavier’s, Michael was immediately swept up in the many plots that were surrounding the school. He fought with the X-Men against General Whitmore, rising quickly through the ranks as Tricity’s immediate second-in-command. He went so far as to allow himself to be captured to help Daria Strong escape from the labs of the Fusionist, though at the cost of being unable to escape himself.

After being rescued from the Fusionist, Michael remained in a coma for months. Separated from his body, his spirit was thrust into the Astral plane, where, as Cassiel the Heartwalker, he rejoined the Zethari, beings who had ages ago shed the need for a mortal body to become pure thought on the Astral Plane. With Cassiel as their champion, they fought a perilous campaign against the Shadow King. Although the Shadow King and Cassiel had fought each other to a standstill on many occasions, the Shadow King could not cope with the dual spirits of Michael and Cassiel. The Shadow King was defeated, but Cassiel/Michael was left broken and needing to be returned to his body. This was discovered when the Zethari appeared to Daria at the Institute, helping her to draw Michael back into his body.
