The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Zek continued smiling as the guy ran with the moving idea. The smile continued even as his ears cut out. All Zek heard was “warb warb warb warb jargon warb warb warb”. The smile turned plastic and his eyes acquired a waxy sheen and he had to remind himself to breathe. This was starting to sound like physics. He was two seconds away from going for a fire alarm when the guy stopped talking.
Whew. A second disaster averted. What disaster, you ask? A nap attack.
Oh no! The other side had accumulated reinforcements! Now his ears were registering “weebo weebo weebo weebo balls weebo weebo weebo”.
Alright, his sense for fun was dying here. “Eh, I had a hamster like that once. Let him out of his ball and he’d immediately go for someone’s nose. Nasty thing. Great fun at parties though.” But the lad was being led away. “Call me!” he sang out with a wink and a hidden sigh of relief.
And then it was just him and the hero of the day. “So, what’s your encore performance? Battling bands with death metal demons?”
“Had enough of dealing with actual demons to last me a while.” He commented idly. His mind drifted back to the demon chick he’d rescued that one time. The one he hadn’t realized was trying to bed him until after he’d saved her from the creep and she’d pretty much dragged him off. But that wasn’t a story for here, or now. Unless the Zek guy dug for details.
“Actually,” he continued. “I was hoping to get work. But I suppose your boss chose who she chose. Remember us the next time you need a gig though? I can give you our card.”
He would do the organizing if it came to that. If he let the other guys do it, Simon would likely turn it into a personal call with the guy. And that would be unprofessional and unproductive.
He wasn’t dying for cash, at least to pay for his schooling. But for bills and stuff, and for the other members, gigs were great.
Turns out, the guy wasn’t actually dealing with demons anymore. “Fair enough,” Zek agreed with an amiable ducking of his head. Who hadn’t had their run-ins with demons? “Dude, I’d love your card. Don’t count yourselves out of the running though, I don’t think Janine had actually made a decision yet.” Or at least she hadn’t said anything before they found out who let the dogs out.
Zek actually spared the guy a moment of sincerity. Obviously the dogs had really done a number on Zek. “You guys were pretty great. The others were fine, but nobody picks out talent like Janine and David. Nothing escapes their notice. And although it wasn’t part of the performance, there’s no way they didn’t notice you guys helping fight those dogs.” Zek would’ve called them demon dogs, but all dogs were demons so that would’ve just been redundant.
He winked. “Between you and me, that alone would’ve gotten you the gig. Now, I can’t say it for certain, but I’m pretty sure you’ll get the job. I’ll stick up for ya as well. Besides, you throw a mean guitar pick.”
He clapped his hands together and began edging away. “I’ll see you on Mutant Night, dude! I’ve gotta go talk to Janine now and start getting this all sorted out. Loved the show!” And with that, he went off to do exactly what he said. He hadn’t been at the club for more than a few months, but he had a sense about these things. It was all gonna turn out just fine.
Danny reached into his pocket for his wallet, and procured a card with their contact information on it. The space where the band name would have been printed on the card had previously been blank, but they had scrawled whatever name they had chosen for this audition in, hastily. Seemed like they hadn’t settled either. But the contact information was all good.
He gave the guy the card with a polite “There you go. Thanks.”
Zek said some things and it sounded more and more like what they’d done and how they had played and handled themselves were major points in their favor. Danny’s smile grew as the guy spoke. After he spoke, Danny laughed.
