Character

Personality: Cole is a fairly jumpy man, hating big crowds and constantly dealing with panic and anxiety over social interaction. He tends to think of the worst possible outcomes to situations, which only exacerbates his issues. However, although he has issues with people and normal interaction due to this, in smaller groups and with people he's used to Cole tends to be a very polite and caring man. He constantly focuses on how others feel, and will try his best to help a friend with an issue. This is usually to a fault though, as Cole tends to quickly latch onto someone and put his trust in them. When in a comfortable state, Cole also tends to get very excited over things he enjoys, and focusing on them helps calm him down. Cole tends to hold grudges, and can be quick to judge others rather quickly. Although most of the time this comes from his negative way of thinking more than any legitimate malice. 

Hobbies/ Interests: Cole is a big fan of movies, especially ones with practical effects. He’s big into creative things, and enjoys the craftsmanship before stuff like that. He tends to spend most of his time building stuff with legos and playing games beyond that.

Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Talking with new people, big groups, people possibly thinking poorly of him behind his back. Generally tends to get negative over things. 

Special talents: Cole tends to think creatively, thinking outside the box and building strategies to use in different situations. He’s also quite used to going long amounts of time without sleeping, and as such can do so without impairing his thinking ability. He’s also quite skilled at cooking.

Morality

Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral Good. Cole generally tends to fall within the lines, doing whatever he needs to do. He cares about others, and generally doesn’t break rules or laws. 

Mutations

Mutation description: “Negative Release” Whenever Cole begins to feel anxious or stressed, those negative emotions begin to manifest as a dark purple substance which forms from his arms, but can quickly stretch over anywhere on his body. The substance appears almost liquid in how it moves, yet feels solid and firm to the touch. In small amounts, the substance simply acts as a shield for parts of the body and a slight physical enhancement. Cole can slightly control where on his body the substance covers, however it can also move freely of his command to protect a specific part of the body.  The worse Cole gets mentally, the more the substance will form over him. If enough is created to cover his body, the substance will begin to control it and act on its own, attempting to destroy the source of his current emotions, and anything in his way. As Cole calms down or the substance is sufficiently damaged, it will begin to crack before shattering and crumbling away. It also does this if torn off his body.

Strengths: The substance is very durable, and more of it can be formed if enough damage is caused to warrant replacement. Although it fairs better against blunt damage, it can withstand being cut or pierced by bullets or knives. High-caliber weapons can quickly cause it to crack and break though, unless a lot of the substance is focused on the spot being shot. The fact it reacts without Cole needing to also makes it reliable even in small amounts. While being used, Cole’s physical abilities are also enhanced to an extent, allowing him to make up for his lack of physical strength otherwise. He can also focus the substance onto one spot such as his hands to tear something open, or chest to take a hit. If his body is fully covered, Cole’s durability and strength is also far greater, allowing him to withstand most average weaponry in high amounts, making him a force to be reckoned with.

Weaknesses and Limitations: Cole cannot choose when the substance forms, and in some cases it might stretch out slightly and claw at things without him meaning to. Although it can damage things near Cole, beyond stretching out a few inches from his skin if it is forced any further it immediately breaks apart. While fully covered by the substance, Cole effectively loses all control and can end up hurting innocents and causing destruction. Forming too much of the substance without rest can also cause physical and mental strain, tiring Cole out and eventually leading to unconsciousness. When being used in smaller amounts, multiple attacks at different points can result in the substance being spread too thin and losing effectiveness, or being unable to block everything.

Physical Abilities

General Physical Capabilities: Normally, Cole has below average physical abilities, which is made up for by his power. With the substance, most of Cole’s physical attributes are enhanced to near peak human ability, except for his durability and stamina which are much higher. At the most, normally he can smash through stone, or lift something about the size of a car with enough effort. While losing control, this is bumped up further, allowing him to bend metal objects and generally smash through most obstacles. 

Fighting Style: Cole has no real knowledge of combat, and usually just flails and relies on his power to fight defensively. While losing control, he attacks in an almost animalistic way, becoming hard to predict and much more brutal.

Fighting Style Pros/Cons: While the way he fights when losing control is hard to counter or predict, it also lacks any real form or skill, and openings can easily be made when he attacks. Normally, basically his entire fighting style is a con.

History Of Your Character

Cole was the youngest of 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He grew up helping out at his family’s restaurant. As Cole grew older, he grew more and more distant from his family. While most of his siblings understood, his father became increasingly annoyed at Cole’s way of acting, always attempting to force him to socialize more and being generally insensitive to their problem, insulting his hobbies and making fun of him at every turn. Eventually, Cole had enough. He refused to stay in a house and work under a man who didn’t respect him or his way of living. He left, being disowned by his father for leaving the family business. However, Cole left without much of a plan. All he had was some saved up money from working at the restaurant. He couldn’t get a job, no matter how he tried, and the money he had saved slowly began to run out. Eventually, he didn’t have enough to pay for rent. He hadn’t found a job, and had been effectively cut off completely from the only place he could go after this. He was frustrated, terrified, he felt like he had shot himself in the foot. Would his dad accept him back? Could he even show his face again after leaving once on such bad terms? Could he even really survive on his own, or was he just kidding himself.

It was by then, Cole had realized the strange substance forming over his arms. It slowly moved over his torso, wrapping onto his legs and finally sliding over his face. This only made Cole panic more than he already was. He screamed out, attempting to tear off the substance to no avail as it began controlling his body. Before Cole could even understand what was happening, he began tearing apart his apartment, breaking everything in his path before smashing through a wall into the streets below. Starting that day, Cole’s life would be forevermore changed.

Sample RP:

"Okay...You can do this...C-Come on..." Cole muttered to himself, staring at the roof of the building across from the one he currently stood on. It honestly wasn't a very big gap at all. Cole was pretty sure any normal teen could make a running start and jump it no problem. But even then, the idea of taking the leap terrified Cole to no end. He didn't very much trust his physical ability to do anything, and the 2 story fall certainly didn't help with that lack of faith. As he continued to stare, Cole found himself backing up a bit in preparation "I-If a normal person can do it...I definitely can...Uh, right? Besides, even if I...Oh God if I fall." That thought hit hard, far harder then he had intended. What if he messed up. What if his power didn't work. In one swift motion, he would fall to his death. Cole wasn't sure if he'd make a splat, or a crack noise when he fell, but his brain imagined both.

As Cole worried more and more, the negative substance had already begun forming over his arms. It nearly covered them both completely "Ah! All uh, all according to plan...Yeah." He began to move the substance down his over, controlling it to wrap around his legs and feet. The stuff felt odd, like a warm blanket made of jello. It was both comforting, and uncomfortable. But Cole couldn't worry about that, he needed to focus on this jump. This jump....This jump. Perhaps he was focusing a bit too much on it. A bit more of the negative substance began to form over his arms, which he quickly took note of "Ack! No, that's enough! No thanks please!" Cole shook his arms around, afraid of anymore forming. Sadly though, that only seemed to cause the negative substance to continue forming over his arms.

He closed his eyes, running forward and leaping through the air. As he flung forward, Cole felt a bit more at peace. The newfound strength his negative substance gave was more then enough to clear the gap, and the act was more liberating then he could have ever thought. His mind was a little more at ease now that he had accomplished what was worrying it at the moment, and this became clear as the substance over his arms crumbled apart and disappeared. Cole landed on the other side with a loud thud, the substance cushioning the fall. Now able to think a bit more clearly, it probably would have protected him even if he did fall. This fact causes Cole to sigh, crouching down and falling back against the ground. That was enough excitement for the day.
