The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Dakota can absorb energy from any living thing plus some non living things. Fire, Water, Air, Earth and the Sun. He can also manipulate energy in the air to control gravity slightly.

Okay, what about electrons and junk? Remembering back a few years to chemistry/physics, can't you split an atom to get vast amounts of energy? And doesn't everything have atoms, meaning everything has energy?
Oh... and Dakota, you have to touch to absorb energy right? In a lot of your posts you simply post that you "takes his/her energy." You never mention touching; so do you have to touch or do you just fail to mention it?
Oh, and i am a nice person . If is sound hostile at any point i didn't mean to.

If you mess with the energy in atoms, methinks there would be some pretty serious repercussions--unless Dakota wants to get into theoretical physics, it'd probably be easier to stick with "energy" that's more of a hyper/tired basis. Though I'd be really amused if someone worked the equations to see what would happen if Dakota took energy from atoms. *is intrigued* Do we have any physicists in the group?
From the little I can remember of my physics lessons some three odd years ago the splitting of atoms is called fission and is only possible in heavy elements such as uranium. Normally when fission occurs the separated pieces of the atom will reform into lighter elements and a huge burst of energy is released becuase of the separation, this how both bombs and nuclear power plants function. If Dakota is saying that he is capable of splitting atoms and absorbing the released energy then he should either be a walking night light or simply combust from the overload of energy.
However I don't think that this will be an issue since I'm quite sure Dakota agreed to limit himself to only living energy after a little dispute we had when our characters first battled.

What Dakota can take energy from would entirely depend on your definition of energy. Physics-wise, everthing has energy (until you hit absolute zero (roughly -273 degrees C)) so energy could be taken from atoms, causing them to merely slow down. Biology-wise, we're talking about the energy that's released during respiration (oxygen + glucose = water + CO2 + energy) and therefore He would only be able to take energy that had already been released by living things. This means that someone sitting still would not be using much energy and therefore only a little could be taken. Essentially, he's taking the energy as they produce it. This could kill them, by taking the energy needed to think/breathe. If he doesn't take too much, then he could take some from somone who's walking, and they would not be able to make enough energy to walk, and thus they would feel very tired. If someone is running or fighting, then they are producing alot of energy, so Dakota could take some of that, and so the person would have to expend more to acheive whatever it is they're doing and thus would tire out faster. at least, that's what makes sense to me. Science is fun!!
(note: I am not trying to sound bossy, I'm only explaining how I think his powers work scientifically. I prefer to know the exact science of mutants' powers as if they were actually possible and not fiction)
Okay. To settle this up. He can take in heat energy from fire and he can take energy from anything living within 30 feet of him. It is only when he touches things that he has no control over what he is doing. He takes life energy usually which causes people to tire and fall unconcious. Discussion over! . Thanks, Dakota.
My power is perfectly legitimate. I can absorb energy from any living thing within 30 feet of me. The closer it is, the less strain and more energy I can take. When I come into skin-skin contact with something I, Like Rogue, have no control over what I do. I can take energy from Fire because I extract the energy from the heat. I can only hold double my normal limit to energy. IF I even get to this I will randomly expell energy with no control. IF I exceed this limit I will explode. Now this discussion is over. If you want we can start commenting on all your powers also. Ted, thanks for working out that equation and thaks to everyone with concerns.
So you take the heat from fire... why is it just fire? Surely that would mean you can take any heat from anything? I'm just curious as to why it's only the heat from fire that you can take, and not, say, the sun? Couse if I've got this right, it means you can take energy from living things and then play with and shoot stuff at people, OR you can take energy from fire to warm yourself up. Essentially the same as standing near it. Am I right?
If you want we can start commenting on all your powers also.
A little note on Ted's power if anyone's unsure: Ted does NOT become a werewolf specifically, it's a beast which doesn't belong to any particular species and is essentially a cross between a human and the general meat-eating land mammal. Just so that's clear, as I don't mind people calling him a werewolf in the Cbox (hell, I do that too, it's easier and sounds cooler) but when rping please don't refer to him as a werewolf if you have actually seen him transformed. If you have only heard a brief description of his powers, then a character might call him a werewolf, but after seeing him transformed noone should call him a werewolf because he just isn't. I'm just making that distinction clear ;D
