Maya could see that once she asked her questions, a process started in Julian's head, something his thoughts could latch on to. They started at the basics; he was not shifting right now, so he was either not in a position that would make him shift, or he was actively holding back. Either, or, and all he needed to do was tell her which one.
>>"I, uhm, I'm not. I... realise now that I've only... shifted... when I touched something with my palms. I haven't really tried touching anything and stopping. The pain is... overwhelming. But... I do know I cannot replicate myself, or water, if that helps."
He was a good student. He considered the facts, and he drew his own conclusions; she could see him relax a little as his panic switched to analysis.
"That definitely helps. Water shifting is a mess, and I'm not the person to help with that anyway" she smirked. She would have had to bring Jorge in for that one. "Okay, so... palms. That makes it a lot more manageable. Did you shift when your palms touched... like, your shirt? Or... wood? Anything that is organic?"
