The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

And apparently the burgers that she was supposed to have been cooking were not even salvageable Lee realized as she watched Jason scraping them straight into the garbage.
But Jason didn't understand why the woman had behaved the way she had, either. Not that it really mattered, Lee thought. Not that night, since the woman was gone now. ”Sure, but I still think it's far more interesting than my job,” Lee pointed out with a shrug. ”Plus, I'm not going to have to worry about you getting hurt like if you were still a cop.”

Jason gave a dry laugh. "Interesting, is one way to put it," he muttered with snort. "There were a few reasons I used to drink myself to sleep before I met you," he said with a shrug. "That is true, though I think it's sweet that you'd worry about me," he said, his voice turning sweet as he kissed her cheek.
"Well, we get one burger each, and there are plenty of cheese sticks to go around. After that, I really need a bite," he said, grabbing two plates and fixing both of them, then handed one to Lee after he'd finished.
"Maybe this evening will get better, hm?" he said with a smile.
Hearing what Jason had to say about his job, and drinking habits, Lee frowned slightly. That didn’t sound very good at all. And as Jason continued speaking, Lee’s frown remained, though now it was out of confusion. ”Why wouldn’t I worry about you?” Lee asked, her head tilting to the side slightly as she looked up at Jason. Wasn’t that something you were supposed to do when you had a boyfriend, worry about them? At least Lee thought so, maybe she was wrong?
Seeing Jason starting to dish up their plates, Lee stepped out of the way, turning to the fridge to grab them some drinks to go with dinner. Setting the bottles on the counter in front of the stools, Lee turned in time to be handed a plate.
”I sure hope so,” Lee replied, shooting Jason a small smile over her shoulder as she moved to sit down. ”Though, I’m not sure what else could go wrong.”

Jason paused for a moment at her words, thinking over them. "No one's ever worried about me before," he said as he set their plates down, a slight smile forming on his face.
"Don't jinx it," he warned jokingly as he pulled the stool out for her.
Despite everything that'd happened so far, he was happy Lee'd stayed. He had this thought that she might have gotten mad and left in all of the drama, but still she stayed. And now their date was going as planned. He hoped.
Once she sat down, he sat next to her, taking a bite of one of the cheese sticks. "You did a really good job with these," he complimented.
Lee shrugged, though she was smiling at Jason. ”And no one's really wanted to stick around me once they've found out about my powers,” Lee told him. This was all new and different for both of them, so of course there were going to be things they've never had or experienced before, right?
”I'll try not to,” Lee said, smiling over at Jason as he pulled the stool out for her.
And as Jason say down Lee grabbed the burger on her plate and took a bite. Just in time for Jason to compliment her on the cheese sticks. Blushing, Lee finished the food in her mouth before turning to look at Jason. ”Thanks. The burger's pretty good, too. Maybe you'll actually be able to teach me afterall.”

Jay smiled. "Well, I'm glad, honestly. Otherwise some other lucky bastard would have ended up with you," he said with a twinkle in his spectacled eyes. "Which would be a shame, because I find you irresistible." He gave her a wink as he dug into his food, washing it down with some of his beer--he really needed to invest in something else to drink. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
"Well, you know I won't steer you wrong," he said with a small smile. "Besides, you listen well, and any intuition needed will come as you gain experience. Though most of what I cook is fried and/or not good for you, so you've been warned." He gave another smile as he looked over at her again. Even when he could keep his hands off of her, his eyes tended to stay glued to her.
Maybe Jason did have a bit of a point, Lee thought as she looked over at him with a smile on her face. If anyone else had stuck around for more than just a night, hadn’t left the occasional time they had found out about her powers (though most hadn’t even made it to that point), it would be quite possible she would have ended up with someone else. And as Jason continued, the smile on Lee’s face was joined by a blush. Though she didn’t see his wink because she dropped her eyes down to her plate. Lee had been called irresistible many other times, but those had been pick up lines. The way that Jason had said it, the tone of his voice was much different.
”It would be a shame if that had kept us apart,” Lee said, glancing sideways at Jason. Unsure whether the blush had disappeared yet or not. ”Though, maybe I would know what I’m getting myself into with this whole ‘dating’ thing if that was the case.” Giving Jason a wink, Lee took a sip of her own beer before picking up a cheese stick.
Most of what Jason cooked was fried or otherwise not good for you? Lee shrugged slightly. ”I can’t really cook at all, so I eat a lot of takeout,” she told Jason, glancing over again to see him just looking at her. ”So I’m sure I’ll survive.”

Once again he noticed her face turn that familiar shade of beet red. But he realized pretty quickly that it meant he was doing something right. He smiled softly as he continued eating.
"Well, I'd rather have a clueless you than not have you at all," he said with a shrug. Then he gave another chuckle.
"Fair point. Though at least with me, you come out without spending a lot of money, and you always get a little something extra with the meal," he gave her another wink as he drank his beer. He was now as relaxed and carefree as he was when they'd first started the night together; it was almost as if that incident didn't happen.
At least Lee thought that the blush on her face was fading. But she still smiled when Jason said that he’d rather have her clueless about dating than to have had her end up with someone else. ”Well, things do seem to be going well even though I am pretty much clueless, so I guess it’s worked out, hasn’t it?” Lee asked softly before turning back to her food.
But as Jason continued speaking, Lee’s eyes turned back to him just in time to see his wink. ”A little something extra?” Lee questioned, a playful smile on her face as she spoke. ”Oh, do you mean we have cheesecake for dessert again?” Lee knew that wasn’t what Jason had been hinting at, she knew exactly what it was he was talking about. But it would be fun to tease Jason about it before they got to that point.

He shrugged with a slight laugh of his own. "Well, I think we're pretty good at playing it by ear. Sort of figuring it out as we go is working so far, right?" he said as he finished his plate and pushed it back before going back to his beer. This time, she seemed to notice his wink, and from the look on her face, she was toying with him.
He smirked as he leaned in a little. "Oh, I'd like to think it's better than cheesecake," he said, leaning back teasingly instead of closing the gap like he normally would. Then, he disposed of his empty beer bottle and put his dishes in the sink. From the corner of his eye, he watched her, waiting for any sort of reaction.
Lee nodded with a smile when Jason pointed out that they seemed to be doing a pretty good job so far of playing this relationship by ear. They did seem to be, but still… ”I like trying to have more of a plan, at least when I’m able to,” she told him with a slight shrug. Then just sat there and looked at Jason for a moment. ”But you are right. We have done a pretty good job figuring it out.”
Lee raised an eyebrow as Jason said that what he was thinking was better than cheese cake. Before he leaned back for moment before he stood up to clear his plate. ”You think it’s better than cheese cake?” Lee questioned out loud, teasingly. ”That’s hard to imagine. I mean, there’s really not much in the world that’s better than cheese cake.”
Grinning at Jason, Lee turned her attention back to her dinner, and before long her plate was clean as well. ”So,” Lee said after a few moments, picking up her beer to take a drink. ”What’s this something extra you were talking about?”

"Well, yeah, it helps. And today was planned. Originally, anyway. Even if it did kind of get derailed for a moment there." He gave a slight shrug. "Well, to me it is," he said slyly, giving her a wink. Once had his plate clean, he went ahead and started packing away what leftover Mozzarella sticks and put them in the fridge before washing what dishes were left and putting a lid on the pot of grease.
Then, when her plate was clean, he made quick work of that too. Once finished, he walked over to her, the counter between them, and he leaned across. "You mean you haven't figured it out yet?" he teased, leaning across the counter to let his lips lightly brush hers.
He thought that what else came with dinner was better than cheesecake, did he? Lee simply watched Jason clean up in the kitchen as she finished eating, and almost the moment that her plate was empty, he was clearing out away.
And then he was back, leaning across the counter toward her. ”Oh, I think I've figured it out,” Lee said, grinning the short distance across to Jason. ”We're going to play checkers, right?”
In reality, Lee knew exactly [/u] what Jason was hinting at. But the fact was, he was way over on the far side of the counter, so she may as well play around and tease him. He was the one who had started the teasing, afterall.

He smirked slightly across the counter; honestly he kind of liked when she played this game. It made things fun, and showed a more...playful side. "Not quite, but there may be some...jumping...involved," he said with a sly grin as he moved to continue--teasingly--cleaning up around the kitchen. He really did enjoy this time together, and was glad they were able to do things beyond what they were used to. But...sometimes it was good to go back to what you know.
After a few moments, he walked back to the counter, but instead of walking around, he just hopped up onto it, sliding so he was sitting on the counter sort of in front of her. Then, he leaned forward, giving her a passionate kiss, his hands staying on the counter to keep his balance.
Lee grinned at Jason when he said that there may be jumping involved even though he wasn't talking about checkers. ”Oh!” Lee exclaimed, excitement in her voice and the playful grin still on her face. ”Do you mean we're going to jump rope? I haven't done that in years!”
And as he continued to tidy up the kitchen, she sat and watched for Jason's reaction. Lee knew that Jason liked this kind of teasing and playing around, he wouldn't grin at her like he did if he didn't like it. Plus, it was fun seeing who would crack first.
And, Lee thought as she saw Jason jump up to sit on the counter in front of her, he was the one cracking first this time. ”A little eager, are-” Lee started to ask, but was cut off as Jason leaned down to kiss her.
Man, was that better than checkers, or even jump rope. Standing up from the stool, Lee wrapped her arms around Jason's neck as she returned the kiss.
