The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I don't know..." Jay said coyly, "You very well might," he said, giving her a mischievous grin, but then dialing it back quite a bit. Yeah, this wasn't getting any easier. But it was still fun, as long as it stayed semi-innocent.
He made himself comfortable, finishing off his coffee well before Zoe returned to the living room. "Sounds good," he said with a smile. "You always this nice to random dogs you find in the park?" he teased lightly, as he gave another classic smile.
Zoe actually was a little surprised at Jay’s next comment. Raising her eyebrows at him, she smiled slightly. ”Oh really?” She asked before getting up to go make food.
When she got back to the couch to wait for the chicken parmesan to cook, Zoe shook her head at Jay’s question. ”No, definitely not all of them,” she replied, then gave a slight shrug. ”Just the ones with blue eyes.”

He let her 'Oh really?' hang in the air, figuring it best not to expound on that. They were already alone in her apartment, and she was making them both dinner. But maybe she was right about behavior not being his thing.
"Oh, so you mostly bring home huskies, then," he teased lightly, tossing in a wink for good measure. "Though I do find it rather odd that my eyes never change color," he mused a little as he looked over at her. "I guess if I'm trying to be covert, I better hope my targets aren't that observant..."
Zoe shrugged. ”Well, their fur is soft, and snuggling with one is a good way to keep warm on cold winter day,” she joked.
Then Zoe laughed a bit when Jay mentioned him being covert. ”I don’t know, this is you we’re talking about,” Zoe said, still teasing. ”Just how covert are you able to be?
“Though, I have to say, I like how it’s still your eyes when you shift.” She finished, her tone a bit more serious as she finished, smiling over at Jay.

"Well in that case...you should help me get a husky shift," he teased lightly, then thought about her next question.
"I can be as covert as I need to," he said with a small shrug, and then smiled when she mentioned his eyes. "Thanks," he murmured, looking over at her.
Zoe laughed. ”You know what? Maybe I will,” she said, grinning over at him. Though, thinking about it, it was kind of curious that he didn't have it yet. Surely Jay would have seen a husky that he could have gotten a shift from.
”Oh, you can, can you? Maybe I'll have to put that to the test sometime.”
All Jay said about feet eye comment was ‘thanks’. Zoe just looked at him for a moment before she shrugged. ”I don't know, is nice to be able to tell it's you. Especially when I can't actually talk to you.”

He laughed lightly, looking at her sideways. "And how would you test my stealth skills?" he asked, cocking his head sideways a little, much like he had as a dog. Then, he smiled lightly as she continued.
"I guess that is one way of looking at it. Though I do have to say, most of my shifts do look even more badass with the blue eyes," he mused, getting comfortable once more. He had to admit, this was nice. Just sitting and talking. "And next time, I won't be so surprised when you understand me," he added as he slid a little closer. He didn't mean anything, he was just getting comfortable as his heart-rate slowed and his breathing returned to normal.
How would she test his stealth skills? Zoe sat and thought for a moment, then she shrugged. ”I’m sure I’ll be able to figure something out,” she ended up saying. ”I can be quite resourceful, so I’m sure I’ll manage.”
As she listened to Jason, she nodded. He thought his blue eyes made his various shifts look more badass? Then Zoe laughed slightly. ” You better not be so surprised next time,” she told him with a grin over at Jay. And since she was looking over at him, she noticed Jay moving slightly closer.
”Though you know,” she said, tilting her head slightly as she looked at Jay. ”It was nice walking home from work with some company. Even if you’re shifted, I wouldn’t mind having a repeat of that.”

" Well you got me two new forms, so I know you're resourceful," he said with a small smile. "So I guess we'll see."
He laughed, shaking his head slightly. "Now I know to expect it. And...maybe I could hang out more like this. Besides, you did mention a guard dog earlier," he teased lightly.
He scooted back to his original spot, still trying not to lead her on. But he was starting to feel like maybe he was doing a horrible job at this, after all.
Zoe smiled when Jay said that she was resourceful for getting him two more shifts that day. ”You know, they are both shifts that you could have gotten on your own,” Zoe pointed out. ”You could have gone to the zoo on your own at any time. It’s not like I took you into any restricted access areas so you could see the animals.”
When Jay said that he would know to expect her to understand him, Zoe nodded. That probably had been a little shocking thinking back. ”I would like to hang out like this again,” Zoe told Jay with a smile. ”I don’t exactly have a lot of friends. Believe it or not, most people think I’m a bit of a weirdo.”
Right about then, Zoe heard a ding come from kitchen, and her eyes widened. ”I forgot to put the pasta on!” she exclaimed, jumping off the couch and rushing to the kitchen.

"Maybe, but I'd mentioned that I wouldn't have wanted to go alone. Besides, you know your way around better than I do. In a matter of an hour or so, I got two shifts. Alone, that would have taken me all day, plus I would've had to pay to get in," he replied with a wink.
Then, he nodded thoughtfully as she spoke. "I understand that. I mean, not everyone knows you can actually talk to animals. I mean, I'd have believed you even if I couldn't shift, but I know it's gotta be nice," he said with a smile.
Then, her eyes widened and she was rushing to the kitchen. It was all he could do not to smile; she was kind of adorable, in a way.
Rushing to the kitchen, shaking her head at herself, Zoe hurriedly got the pot on the stove for the pasta. She was normally much better at timing things like this while she was cooking. But then again, Zoe never really had company over distracting her like Jay had while she was cooking.
It really didn’t take long for her to get the pot on the stove, and while she waited for the water to boil, Zoe took the chicken out of the oven before setting about getting dishes ready for the meal.
”You want anything to drink with dinner?” Zoe called to Jay as she moved around the kitchen. By this point, the water on the stove was boiling, so she dumped the pasta in. Just a few more minutes.

He sat on the couch, waiting for a few minutes, but then he got up and joined her in the kitchen. "Depends on what you have. Beer, soda, water, whatever's fine," he answered. "You need any help?" he asked, as he looked around.
"Or do you think I'll just distract you again?" he teased lightly, sitting in a chair while he waited She was sort of fun to pick on, but he did it playfully; no harm meant.
Jay’s voice was much closer when he answered her question. Zoe looked over her shoulder and saw Jay walking into the kitchen. ”Take a look in the fridge,” she said, tilting her head toward the fridge.
Then Jay asked if he’d be a distraction again if he were to help. ”Yeah, you probably would be,” she replied, matching Jay’s joking tone. ”But can you set the table? The pasta should be just about ready.”

"Alrighty then," he said, getting up and grabbing a soda from the fridge before popping it open and taking a sip. Then, he set the can on the counter and helped her set the table for the two of them.
"I don't know why, I find I tend to be distracting," he teased with a light shrug. "I think it's the puppy dog eyes," he said as he finished setting the plates and silverware where they went, then he grabbed his soda off the counter.
