Lee could hear the bitterness in Ifreet's voice as he repeated her words. As he continued speaking, Lee set down her still half full bowl on the counter beside her. She had a good idea what he was thinking; if there was ever a problem, and there was a mutant anywhere in the vicinity, the problem was the mutant. Despite not being a visible mutant, she had faced that herself before.
”As long as I'm here, you'll only be a problem if you actually cause the problem,” Lee told Ifreet. ”I don't take that kind of crap from a bigoted cop with an itchy trigger finger, I'm not going to from Matt.”
But it seemed as though Ifreet was ready to leave. Taking the paper the man held out with his number on it. ”I'll call tomorrow,” Lee said as she glance down at the number. ”Like I said, you're hired as long as there's an opening, and I'll find out tonight.”

"I really appreciate that, Lee. Look, we're planning a protest at City Hall tomorrow, if you're interested. We could use the bodies.
He grabbed his parka, threw it on, shook Lee's hand. "Either way, hear from you soon, and be safe out there."

He was planning on going to a protest the next day. Especially now with Kevin, that was not something Lee was willing to go to, she knew that things like that in this city often went very wrong. But she simply nodded. If Ifreet wanted to go do that, all the power to him. Lee had already tried to change things in the world, and though she did help make changes, it unfortunately hadn't done as much as Lee would have liked.
Another nod when Ifreet said that he'd hear from her soon. "I'll give you a call tomorrow," Lee said. "And good luck with the protest."
