The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jay noted that the bed was much more comfortable than the couch--though his couch was smaller than Lee's, and therefore wouldn't have been remotely as comfortable. But unlike Lee, Jay was content just staying where he was. His eyes drifted closed for a minute, but they opened again once he felt a brief kiss. His eyes squinted open just a little, watching her move around the room.
His dresser was pretty tall and actually fairly well organized. In the top drawer were his underwear and socks, then his muscle shirts and plain tees, then his band shirts and screen tees, then his more dressy shirts, polos, and one or two flannel shirts, and the last was just pants.
He smiled as he watched her, figuring she was hunting for a shirt. He lay on his side, watching her, not even bothering with a blanket.
A quick glance over her shoulder as she got to the dresser told Lee that Jay really didn't mind. That was good, she thought with a smile over at him. Especially since she had no clue how he would organize his clothing. The best that Lee could figure was to start with the third drawer down; if Jay's organization was anything like Tarin's had been (and that was really the only experience she had to draw on), the top two drawers would be of no use to her.
And, sure enough when she pulled the drawer open, there were the t-shirts. Seeing what was on the top of the pile, Lee couldn't help but laugh slightly. Pulling the shirt out with a shake off her head, Lee pulled on the black shirt depicting a dog playing a bass guitar. ”It really shouldn't have surprised me that you'd buy a shirt like this,” Lee said turning around to look at Jay.

He blinked as she laughed upon finding a shirt, and then pulling it on. He could tell it was black, but that didn't help much because he owned quite a few black shirts. Then she turned around and he had to chuckle. The dog playing the bass. Of course she picked that one. He'd bought it a few years ago after noting the irony and thinking it'd be funny if a canine-shifting bassist had a shirt like that.
"And why does it not surprise me that you picked that one?" he said with a chuckle. "Though, as much as I hate to see you clothed already...it looks good on you." He gave another smile, looking over. "Definitely gets my seal of approval," he murmured.
Lee shrugged when Jay asked her a question in return. ”It's not my fault you had this shirt on top,” Lee said as she slowly walked back towards the bed. Then smile knowingly as she continued speaking. ”And I'm glad you approve. But this just means you'll have to undress me again, which I'm guessing you wouldn't object to.
“Or, Lee continued, sitting on the edge of the bed beside Jay. ”We could just talk for a bit first before the undressing happens.”

"True, true," he said with another small chuckle as she sat on the bed beside him. "Well, undressing is half the fun," he murmured, sitting up and turning so he was sitting right next to her. He had to admit, he really did like how his shirt looked on her.
"I'm not against talking," he finally stated, thinking out loud. "You know, I was starting to think you weren't going to show at first," he admitted. "But I was glad to see you walk in. Really the only thing that I was looking forward to about the gig or I probably woulda just no-showed. Though I guess leaving before the last song really wasn't much better though..." He sorta just looked at the far wall, still glad that whole thing turned out a lot better than he thought it might.
Lee grinned when Jay said that undressing was half the fun. That was certainly true at times. Other times, like the other day when she had typed a couple buttons off her shirt… well sometimes clothing just got in the way.
As Jay sat up Lee leaned against him for a moment. If only she hadn't been so out of practice having this much energy coursing through her body.
”Sorry I worried you,” Lee said as she sat straight again and looked over at Jay. ”I had trouble deciding what to wear. My bed is still covered in clothes that I decided against.
“I was serious when I said I didn't want to distract you too much,” Lee grinned at Jay. Then she reached out and grabbed his hand. ”So where are you from? Cause I don't think I've meet anyone who's actually from New York.
“I mean, you don't have to tell me. If I ever ask something you don't want to tell me, let me know. Just no more lies?” As she finished speaking, Lee looked up at Jay, her smile mostly gone at the moment and a small crease between her brows.

"It's okay. You did show up, after all," he murmured as she leaned against him. "I meant what I said too. You were going to distract me no matter what." He laughed, but then bit his lip. No more lies. He could manage that; he supposed, anyway. Well, if honesty meant he'd get more nights like this...he could definitely manage.
"I was born in Georgia. My parents divorced when I was thirteen, and I spent the next several years bouncing from state to state. I graduated high school here in New York, and...never left," he finally said, skipping over some of the important details. After all, the finer details of his past got him emotional, and emotions were a no-go for him. Things like love, trust and relationships were just setting you up to get hurt, after all.
"No more lies." He let his eyes meet hers as he said it. And...he may have actually meant it.
When Jay said that he was from Georgia, Lee shifted slightly on the bed to look at him thoughtfully, her bottom lip pulling between her teeth. While she had been in Canada, Lee hadn't even considered something like this as a possibility, and then she came back to New York, and Jay had essentially been an intruder in her home, yet all this had happened.
As Jay finished describing how he had come to New York, Lee cocked her head to the side. ”What is it with you Southern guys that I find so attractive?” Lee asked softly. Lee didn't expect to actually get an answer, but now she was really station to wonder.
And then Jay agreed to no more lies, and the smile returned to Lee's face as she leaned forward to give Jay a soft kiss. ”Thank you,” Lee said softly, but full of meaning and emotion. ”Lies, and omissions as bad as lies, have put me in too many dangerous situations, and now with Kevin, I can't have that happening.”

"It's the chahm, I'm sure," Jay replied, putting on his best Southern accent as he flashed a charming grin.
He smiled as she kissed him again, sorta enjoying this moment. And then, she spoke again, and this time it made him think. "Yeah...I think I understand. Though I don't have a child or anyone...close to me like that," he said, pondering. "But I can imagine what Kevin means to you. Hell, I only met him once, and I wouldn't want anything to happen to him. Especially not on my part." He gave a sigh, actually feeling a hint of remorse. "I really do apologize for the lying though...I thought it was best at the time."
Damn. It wasn't as good as a Texan accent, Lee honestly wasn't sure if there was anything that could top that, but when she heard Jay speak like that the heat in her gaze increased. ”That must be it,” Lee breathed. Well, the charm and apparently the accents that came along with it.
Jay seemed to understand, and was apologizing again for initially lying about his name. ”Its fine,” Lee said, then shook her head. ”No, not fine, but I understand why, given the situation at the time. I'd probably do the same in a similar situation.”

He nodded, listening as she spoke. He scooted as close to her as he could, leaning against her as best he could; being so much taller than she was.
"I understand our meeting wasn't on the best of terms, but...I'm glad it turned out this way," he said softly. "I just want you to understand...Lying is kind of in my nature. I mean, I'll do my best not to, but if you catch me, it's nothing personal. So just...call me out on it, okay?" he said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, rubbing her shoulder--even if his shirt was in the way.
As she felt Jay leaning against her, Lee snuggled into his side. And smiled as Jay said he was glad that things had turned out how they had. That was a huge change from when they had been laying on her couch.
Lying was in his nature? Though, to be honest, when Lee thought back to when she had been alone, before she had ever come to New York, she hadn't really ever talked to people enough to need to lie to them.
Leaning her head against Jay's shoulder, Lee nodded slightly. ”I'll try not to freak out about it as long as you don't get mad when I do,” Lee negotiated. Because she knew, no matter how much she would mean it if she were to promise not to get mad or freak out about a lie, there was no way to guarantee it.
Rolling her head on Jay's shoulder so she could look up at him, Lee have a one sided smile. ”Apparently, I'm a bit of a worrier.”

"Funny thing about lying...if you're going to do it, you probably shouldn't get mad once you get caught," he said softly. He leaned his head against hers, hand running idly through her hair.
"Well, I wish I could tell you there's nothing to worry about," he said earnestly, "But all things considered...." he let his voice trail off for a spell. "Sometimes, worry is good. It lets you know you still have some common sense left. I never worry. And you found me naked in your kitchen." He gave a chuckle. "That was some damn good yogurt though."
Lee would have nodded when Jay told her why he likely wouldn't get mad at her far catching him lying, except that his head was now resting on hers, his hand running through her hair, and she didn't want him to stop. So instead Lee simply closed her eyes, relaxing at the touch.
But then Jay said that he wished there was nothing to worry about. Lee body tensed, her eyes opening, a worried crease between her eyebrows, but she didn't move. He shifted into a dog, surely what Jay had meant was nothing nearly as serious as her mind automatically jumped to.
As Jay finished speaking, Lee couldn't stop the laugh from bursting out, finally starting to relax again. ”It must have been good with how casually you finished eating it,” Lee said, the laughter still evident in her voice.
The laughter quickly disappeared as her mind kept thinking about what Jay had said before that. Not wanting to break the mood but needing to know, Lee lifted her head and looked over at Jay once more. ”All what considered?” Lee asked slowly. ”Let the expert worrier decide if it's something worth actually worrying about.”

"You know...the way we met. How I spouted lies the day we first met...I mean that would leave me rather untrustworthy, wouldn't it? Therefore, I can't logically tell you not to worry," he explained, snuggling into her a little.
"I mean, we're good now, but you know what they say about first impressions," he added before leaning down and kissing her forehead. "Maybe I just keep beating myself up for that, but...obviously you forgave me," he gave a light chuckle.
