The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

With the kitchen out of the way, Rebecca’s tour was rapidly approaching its end. She led the younger woman into the dormitory wing, turning right toward the girls’ hallway. ”There’s still more ye’ll find th’ langer yer here. There’s an infirmary near th’ offices if ye e’er need tae see uir resident healer, DocProf. We hae a three-story library ye need tae see fur yerself. Jist be respectful ay aithers.” Translation: Do not let a member of the staff catch you in a compromising position in the middle of the library. ”An’ there’s th’ Danger Room. If ye choose tae train yer powers, tha’d be whaur yoo’d dae it.” Despite the intimidating name, the Danger Room was a great resource for both the X-Men and students in need of lessons in power control.
Rebecca looked at the number etched into the key she grabbed from the office, matching it to the door they approached. She turned it in the lock until a soft click could be heard and she pushed the door open. ”Welcome tae haem, sweet haem.”
The room was a comfortable size, more than capable of accommodating two people. There was currently only one of everything in the room: one bed, one desk, and one dresser. Three doors split off from the otherwise empty room. ”Those tois ur closets. Remember ye micht end up bein’ assigned a roommate if th’ need arises, sae Ah’d recommend relying oan ain ay them. An’ tha door’s tae yer washroom.”
Rebecca leaned her back against the doorframe, looking out at the room, which was a carbon copy of her old room. ”It’s bare noo, bit Ah’m sure ye’ll find ways tae make it feel mair ye.” Students often started personalizing their rooms in small ways until they were months into living at the Mansion and the space was unrecognizable to the barren room they walked into on day one.

Kayla looked around her new room in astonishment. It was simple, but the simplicity only helped to get her imagination running. Thoughts of decorations and various personal touches began passing through her mind in quick succession, and she couldn't hold back a smile that would light up the world. The tour of Xavier's had introduced her to several beautiful locales...but none of them compared to her new room because none of the previous locales so deeply proved that her days of being neglected and ordered to live in a dusty attic were over.
Looking back at Miss Grey, Kayla showed her the smile that had appeared on her face. "Thank you," she said and began looking around for herself. 'Thank you' could not come close to expressing the explosive gratitude rising within her, but it was the best she could do.
After a while of looking around, she looked back at Miss Grey with a burdening curiosity. "What...uhm...what should I do now?" It had been a long time since she had a place to really call home, and even longer since she was a part of anything resembling a family. Sure, there was Jack, but he acted more like a caretaker, and his home was confined to the close quarters of a luxury apartment. This left Kayla hurting for some idea as to what to do with herself now that she was, for all intents and purposes, home.

Rebecca loved being there to watch the moment when Kayla really got to see the Mansion as home for the first time. It was one thing to see all the nice things on the campus, but it was very different having a room of her own. A space she could claim and feel safe in away from the world. The way the young woman smiled left Rebecca feeling blessed to, because she was allowed to be part of a moment like that for a girl who deserved it.
Of course, such a major life change was still going to be daunting, and Kayla seemed unsure of what to do with her new life. ”Yer welcome, ay coorse, Kayla. An’ Ah hink whit ye wanna dae is up tae ye,” she said with a friendly pat on the shoulder. ”Gae hae dinner, hang it in th’ loonge, ur jist relax in yer new room an’ start settin’ it up.”
Rebecca walked back toward the doorframe and turned back to Kayla with a wide smile. ”Thes is yer life noo, Kayla. Ye find it whit tae dae wi’ it. Good luck an’ welcome haem.”
